The General Overseer Worldwide of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, today recounted the civil war experience of a certain Igbo girl, whom he said once lived with him.
Pastor Adeboye speaking on an Independence Day special message he titled “Freedom for all,” urged Nigerians not to talk of war but pray for peace, stressing that the effects of war are detrimental.
“You must not stop praying for Nigeria. Keep praying that there would be no war. The only fellow, who should be talking about war, is somebody who has never seen war,” he said.
Recounting the ordeal of the Igbo girl, whom the revered man God did not mentioned her name, he said it took more than human efforts to restore the girl back to normal.
“During the civil, I was working in Ondo state, and so we were very close to Ore. And of course those of you who are old enough to remember, the toughest battle of the civil war was fought in Ore, and for months after the war was over, there were still skeletons scattered all over in the bush.
“After the war, we took in an Igbo girl; she was supposed to come and be a house help; but we spent three months nursing her back to health, because she was so weak, she couldn’t even carry a bottle of coke.
“After we nursed her back to health, physically, we had to nurse her back to mental health. We had to keep on reminding her that the war is over, but she would wake up at night shaking asking “where am I?” “Which side is the army coming from?”
“We had to spend time to tell her stop chasing lizards, because towards the end of the war, they were, according to her, no lizards left in the east, because they were used for food.
“Please, don’t talk about war. I don’t want war. I don’t want war in Nigeria,” he narrated.
Pastor Adeboye went further to congratulate Nigerians on the 57th Independence Anniversary celebrations, and stressed “If the home is not free, the city is a jungle”.
“If there is no freedom in your home, forget independence in the country. There are many many demonic people who are occupying high positions of authority. There are people who control big money, and they are themselves controlled by demons. You must pray God to restore the glory of Nigeria,” he stated.
Adeboye also narrated how he acquired the Redemption Camp land of the RCCG for only N6, 000.
