Presidency in desperate move to clarify Buhari's 'my wife belongs to the kitchen' comment

Death threats to ballot box snatchers: Aisha hails Buhari, calls him ‘The General…’

First Lady and wife of the President, Aisha Buhari has, Monday, countered the narratives by critics who had taken to the micro-blogging site, twitter, to criticise her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari for threatening ballot box snatchers.

President Buhari while addressing members at a meeting of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Caucus in Abuja, had threatened that any thug who may try to snatch ballot boxes during the rescheduled general elections will pay with his or her life.

According to Buhari, “Anybody who decides to snatch ballot boxes or lead thugs to disturb it, maybe this is the last lawful action you will take. “I really gave the military and the police (order) to be ruthless. We are not going to be blamed that we want to rig election. I want Nigerians to be respected. Let them vote whoever they want across the parties.”

“I am going to warn anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his locality to lead a body of thugs or to disturb the voting system, he will do it at the expense of his own life.”

Soon after the president’s statement, some Nigerians took to the media to lambast the president over the statement.

Those who went on social media noted that the democratically elected President Buhari whom Nigerians know has dusted and brought forward his old ‘Boot and gun’ attributes as a military general of years back.

Trending under the harshtag, “General Buhari is back,” the critics recounted what they described as the ordeals Nigerians went through while “General Buhari” made his first coming as head of military government in Nigeria.

But countering their narratives, Aisha Buhari, like the good woman and helper that she is, sprang into defence with a video tweet of her husband, saying the General is not only back but is taking Nigeria to the next level.

Recall that “Taking Nigeria to the next level” has been the campaign takeaway of the APC during the electioneering period leading to coming Saturday’s election. President Buhari and the APC have been prodding Nigerians to give them their votes this Saturday so they would take Nigerians to the next level of abundance, prosperity, economic growth and even total end to corruption.

Aisha Buhari tweeted, “#ThisIsGMB taking Nigeria to the #NextLevel.”
