Four Chinese kidnapped in Nigeria regains freedom

The Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Naval Forward Operating Base have rescued four Chinese who were abducted on Friday by suspected sea pirates.

They were freed after a shooting with their kidnappers in Ilaje area of Ondo state, Southwest Nigeria.

The expatriates were reportedly abducted while on their way from Lagos through Ayeton Creeks to Ogooluayo community along Ebute when they were kidnapped by a gang of sea pirates.

Some of the Chinese were hurt by their kidnappers and are receiving treatment at a local hospital, said spokesman for the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Barracks, Akure, Major Ojo Adelegan.

He further said one of the kidnappers has been arrested.
