Former Rivers state Governor and Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has resigned his appointment with immediate effect.
Amaechi resigned his appointment as the Minister of Transportation following President Buhari’s order that all cabinet members who have shown interest in any elective position for 2023 should resign before the 16th of May.
TheNewsGuru.com recalls that the trio of Godswill Akpabio (Niger Delta), Ogbonnaya Onu (Science and Technology) and Emeka Nwajiuba (Education) had earlier resigned from the Federal Government to pursue their interest in the 2023 elections.
The President’s directive was made known on Wednesday, at the end of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting in Abuja.
Amaechi confirmed his resignation via a tweet on the All Progressive Congress Twitter United Kingdom handle.
The tweet reads “Nigeria’s Minister of #Transportation, HM Chibuike R. Amaechi [@ChibuikeAmaechi] has resigned from the Federal Executive Council (FEC) to focus on his Presidential Campaign.
“Thank you for your service to Nigeria.”
Meanwhile Amaechi hasn’t communicated his resignation officially , his media team is yet to pen an official statement concerning his resignation.
