#Otoge: Like Kwarans did Saraki, Lagosians want fall of Tinubu’s dynasty

Following the success of the #Otoge campaign propelled by the people of Kwara in ending the long reign of the ‘Saraki’s dynasty, Lagosians too have borrowed the historic feat to demand freedom from the hold of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, dubbed by his supporters as the Lion of Bourdillon.

Popularised by Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, the Tsunami of ‘OTOGE’ a Yoruba word that can best be expressed in English as ‘Enough is Enough’ has now landed on the doorstep of Tinubu who has been at the helm of affairs of the state for about 20 years.

#OtogeLagos is now trending heavily on the internet – Lagosians among other netizens who are on the #OtegeLagos thread, are saying they are tired of Lagos being totally in the pocket of Tinubu, therefore have started a movement to take his grip off Africa’s commercial hub.

However, there is an argument that the movement(Otoge Lagos) is being championed mainly by Igbos in Lagos – and not by the majority of Lagosians – because of their ‘hatred’ for the former Lagos governor.

Some critics have also argued that Lagosians, they are really serious about ending Tinubu godfatherism, must go off social media, and start a door-to-door sensitisation to enlighten people not merely by trending a hashtag on Twitter.
