Mr Israel Gometi, who was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease, needs immediate financial intervention to help him seek proper medical treatment for his worsening health condition.
Mr Gometi was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease about a year at the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH), Nigeria, and needs to get a kidney transplant if he must stay alive.
Before he was diagnosed with end-stage kidney disease, last year, Gometi was full of life and was eagerly looking forward to accomplishing some of his set out goals.
Gometi, who was a Math and Physics Instructor at Our Lady of Apostles Premier College (OLAPC), never had the slightest inkling of what fate had in stock for him.
The once bubbling instructor, who also hustled as a disc jockey (DJ), is now fast becoming a shadow of himself due to the end-stage kidney failure, which has rendered him completely incapacitated.
Today, 34-year-old Gometi hardly do anything on his own without assistance from family members, with the unwanted visitor turning the family’s joy into anguish and misery.
Meanwhile, Gometi’s friends have set up a GoFundMe fundraiser for him. A visit to the GoFundMe fundraiser page showed that $2,657 has so far been raised from a target of $37,000.
“I grew up with Israel who has always been such a humble and compassionate friend towards me. Israel is a 34 years old. He teaches physics and does DJ on the side. Israel was diagnosed with kidney failure.
“From this diagnosis, he has been on dialysis three times a week and weekly erythropoietin injections since January 2020. After hearing this devastating news I decided to create this account to help raise funds for Israel.
“In order for Israel to live and be in a healthier state, he will need a kidney transplant. The cost of the transplant is about $40,000, depending on where the operation is done. Israel will also need medications to keep the transplanted kidney working, which is about $1500 per year.
“Israel is a good and honest soul who needs a helping hand to live. Please review my friends story and donate as to anything can help. Thank you and stay blessed,” Best Asagba wrote on the GoFundMe fundraiser set up for Gometi.
Also, Gometi in a WhatsApp group chat revealed that he has received the sum of N5.4 million in his account. He operates the account number: 3020808823 with First Bank of Nigeria, where donations can be directed to.
