The Vice Presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Peter Obi has decried the high number of poor people living in Nigeria as compared to other countries in the world.
Obi made the remarks during the ongoing Vice Presidential debate at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.
He said Nigeria the highest number of poor people in the world, In Terrorism we are number three from seven, inequality, worsening misery index, poor economy. SMEs are not well supported in contrast to China.
His words: “Our country today has the highest number of out of school students, we have moved from seven to number three behind Iran and Afghanistan, our indexes have worsened.
“There is a strong link between SME’s and growing your economy. SME is contributing 60% of employment in China…China today is guaranteeing 10 million jobs annually. But just this year alone Nigeria lost four million jobs.
“We need to create jobs, once we don’t solve this we will have crisis – and that is why we have challenges with insecurity…and I know Atiku Abubaka, Peter Obi candidacy can save Nigeria.
Other Vice Presidential candidates at the ongoing debate include, Yemi Osinbajo of the All Progressives Congress; Peter Obi of Peoples Democratic Party [PDP]; Umar Getso of the Young Progressives Party (YPP);Alhaji Abdulganiyu Galadima Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, (ACPN);Khadijah Abdullahi-Iya of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN).
