Barely 72hours after Senator Magnus Abe dumped APC, another top shot, a former campaign coordinator of Atiku’s presidency in 1999, Dr. Silva Opusunju,
has decamped from the party .
TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports this was contained in a letter to his ward chairman,
Dr. Opusunju noted that his disengagement from the party was on a personal basis.
However, it has not been difficult for political observers to connect that like the
current Rivers State governorship PDP standard bearer, Sim Fubara, Opusunju is
from Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area in Rivers South East Senatorial
District.
It is unlikely Opusunju would feel out of place in the Peoples Democratic
Party since he had at one point (2014 to be precise) aspired to the same position
under the aegis of the People’s Democratic Party where he lost the primaries to
Governor Nyesom Wike.
As PDP prepares to welcome Opusunju back to the fold,
it will be another political blow to Rivers State APC as Dr. Opusunju is known to be and respected as a man of integrity and substance not only in his senatorial district, but across the breath of Rivers state; and his political value to the PDP
especially as regards the riverine, cannot be overemphasized.
