The Former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan did not show up for screening ahead of the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential primary election.
Jonathan who is in far away Italy didn’t return to appear before the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun panel on Monday and Tuesday, the two days set aside for the screening in Abuja.
Jonathan who arrived Italian lakeside resort near Milan at the weekend attended this year’s high level advisory board meeting of the European corporate council on Africa and the Middle East, ECAM Council.
Recall that at the weekend, the National Vice Chairman, North-West of All Progressives Congress, Salihu Lukman, said former President is not a member of the party and that the question of him being a presidential candidate has no leg to stand.
Despite speculations that Jonathan may have submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms and might be screened, he was not anywhere close to the venue of the exercise.
All these has put an end to speculations that the Bayelsa born politician could be joining the race using the platform of the APC.
It was gathered that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Gov. Yahaya Bello, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, former House Speaker Dimeji Bankole, Gov. Kayode Fayemi, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu were the remaining aspirants screened on Tuesday by the party.
TheNewsGuru.com reports that president Buhari in his address pleaded with all APC governors to allow him pick his successor.
Buhari made this request during a consultative meeting with the APC governors at the presidential Villa in Abuja.
