[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Increase comes from God

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Better is the end of a thing

Read: 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Meditation verse:

“The end of a thing is better than its beginning; the patient in spirit is better than  the proud in spirit” (Ecclesiastes 7:8).

As a ministry, we have in the past two years, put out “IN HIS PRESENCE” devotional, as a daily resource to empower people to live more fulfilling lives in  their walk with God; a task made possible only by the special grace of God. We often receive messages and testimonials from our global audience, on the  impact we were making and how much of a blessing our devotional was. Some days back, I received a personal message from an old school mate and dear  brother in the Lord, applauding our work. His message read: “You are doing  well…In these things, remain focused, better is the end of a thing. His grace is  sufficient”.

I strongly believed that his message was inspired by God, because lately, I had  been feeling overwhelmed. The work of ministry can sometimes feel onerous,  but God used my brother to remind me that His grace was always sufficient and  that a reward awaits those who continue to the end. Ministry is a lifelong commitment. No matter how tough it gets, quitting is not an option.

I believe also that God wants someone to hear this word today. Whatever the  Lord has committed into your hands, do it with all your might. Keep up with the  work, do not be discouraged by the seeming slow pace of growth or the lack of  reward. Whatever God is involved in is already a success. Ecclesiastes 7:8-10 says  “the end of a thing is better than its beginning; the patient in spirit is better than  the proud in spirit… Do not say, ‘why were the former days better than these?  For you do not inquire wisely concerning this”. Zechariah 4:10 says “do not  despise the day of small beginnings.

Keep going. God is not unjust to forget your labour of love. A crown of  righteousness awaits you. And someday soon, you would declare like Apostle  did “I have fought a good fight, I finished the race”. Indeed, better is the end of  a thing than its beginning.
