Read: Joshua 3: 1-17
Meditation verse:
“And they commanded the people, saying, “When you see the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, and the priests, the Levites, bearing it, then you shall set out from your place and go after it (Joshua 3:3).
The children of Israel were about to cross the Jordan into the Promised Land after forty years of wandering. The officers went through the camp instructing the people to move only when they saw the priests carrying the ark of the covenant. The ark represented God’s presence, strength, and power. They were not to step forward without it, for the ark would show them the way to go.
Today, you do not have a physical ark or Levites carrying it, but you carry the presence of God within you through the Holy Spirit. You are a bearer of His presence. Too often, we rush ahead with our plans without “waiting to see the ark,” and when things don’t work out, frustration and disappointment set in.
Waiting to see the ark means seeking God’s presence and direction before making decisions. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
It also means immersing yourself in God’s Word. His Word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Often, the Spirit will highlight a scripture that gives you clarity.
Additionally, God places “ark bearers” around you—men and women anointed to provide godly counsel and intercession. As Proverbs 11:14 teaches, “in the multitude of counselors there is safety.”
So, before you take your next step, pause. Seek His presence, His Word, and His counsel. When you wait to see the ark, you will hear that gentle voice behind you saying, “This is the way, walk in it” (Isaiah 30:21).
