[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Increase comes from God

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Praying all kinds of prayer (1)

Read: Luke 18:1-8

Meditation verse:

“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the spirit and watching  thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints” (Ephesians 6:18).

Prayer is an intimate two-way communication between you and God. It is you  talking to your Father as well as listening to Him speak to you. There are different  types of prayers highlighted in the bible that you can pray for different  situations.

PRAYER OF FAITH: This is a prayer you say, asking God for a specific lack or need.  James 1:5-7 says “if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all  liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. But let him ask in faith,  with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed  by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the  Lord”. This makes it clear that a prayer of faith should only be said once for a  particular need, because if you asked in faith and you believe that God has heard  you, then there is no need to repeat the same request, as this would amount to  doubting. All you need to do is to keep thanking God for granting your request.

PRAYER OF AGREEMENT: Prayer said by two or more people, concerning a  specific request. Mathew 18:19 says if two of you agree on earth concerning  anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. This is  a powerful type of prayer for a husband and wife who are in right standing with  God and living in harmony with each other.

PRAYER OF INTERCESSION: Intercession is standing in the gap in prayer for a  person or persons who have invoked judgement upon themselves through their  wrongdoing. You can pray this prayer for unsaved loved ones, backslidden  Christians as well as for nations. Psalm 106: 23 says “therefore he said that He  would destroy them, had not Moses, his chosen one stood before Him in the  breach, to turn away His wrath, lest He destroy them”.

PRAYER OF SUPPLICATION: This is a humble, earnest heartfelt request made to  God for your needs as well as those of others. You can make supplications for all  men. 1 Timothy 2:1 says “therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications,  prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men”.
