[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Increase comes from God

[Devotional] IN HIS PRESENCE: Write down the vision (1)

READ: HABAKKUK 3:17-19

MEDITATION VERSE

“Then the Lord answered me and said: “Write the vision and make it plain on  tablets, that he may run who reads it” (Habakkuk 2:2).

According to P.K. Bernard, “a man without a vision is a man without a future.  And a man without a future will always return to his past”. A vision is a picture of the future. Your vision is a picture of what living out your dream will entail,  and it can be written as a statement. After God told Habakkuk to write down the  vision, Habakkuk did not question God again. With the vision came  understanding. He now had a picture of what the future would look like, and he  was ready to wait for its manifestation, irrespective of how long it may take.  Habakkuk ends with a declaration of faith: “Though the fig tree may not  blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; though the labor of the olive may fail, and  the fields yield no food…, yet I will rejoice in the Lord…”. This is the power of  vision. When the times are tough, your vision will enable you to keep going. “But  where there is no vision, people will cast out restraint. (Proverbs 29:18).

Your vision is not about your current reality. Though the present may not be as  you desire, write down what you want to accomplish in life, make it plain and  post it on a dream wall as a memorial. It will give you hope and build your faith.  Your dream wall could be a journal you carry around, it could also be a piece of  paper that you place in a conspicuous corner. If you write down your vision, it  becomes easier to develop a plan or series of plans to actualize it. If you follow  through with your plans, you will achieve your vision.

Visit your dream wall daily and verbally affirm your vision. The power of positive  confession is real. The bible says “death and life are in the power of the tongue.  And those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21). Never limit your  confession to the level of your current circumstance or ability. “We fix our eyes  not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but  what is unseen is eternal (2 Corinthians 4:18, NIV).
