“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before  you, life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life, that both you  and your descendants may live” (Deuteronomy 30:19).

I had done a lovely hairstyle in preparation for a photoshoot. The problem was  that I did not realize at the point of making the hair that the style I chose would  prevent me from sleeping comfortably at night. After two restless nights, I got  up whilst it was barely dawn and took off the attachments on my head. The relief  I got afterwards made me ponder on the impact of my choice. Why did I allow  myself to go through such pain for that length of time? I had the free will to  choose not to go through what I went through.

In pretty much everything in life, we have the free will to make our decisions  and choices. Our creator is the Almighty God who owns and controls all things, but He has given us the free will to choose for ourselves. You have the free will  to decide how you want to live your life whilst on earth. But remember that your  choices will determine where you spend eternity. Moses told the children of  Israel:

See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, 16 in that I  command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and  to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you  may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land  which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not  hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I  announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong  your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess.  I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set  before you, life, and death, blessing and cursing; therefore, choose life,  that both you and your descendants may live.  -Deuteronomy 30:15-19

As you make decisions and choices each day, remember to choose life in all that  you do. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of  death” (Proverbs 14:12).
