2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Why we drew 1-1 with Lesotho in Uyo – Peseiro

Super Eagles Portuguese gaffer, Jose Peseiro has said that his team drew 1-1 with less fancied Crocodile of Lesotho due to ill luck.

The Super Eagles were tipped to defeat Lesotho in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, but were left frustrated as the visitors , who put up a resolute performance at the Godswill Akpabio stadium in Uyo.

Although, Nigerian boys put up a spirited performance but  failed to convert some of the chances they created in the match.

Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho had a free kick saved in the first half and hit the woodwork in the second half.

Ademola Lookman also missed another chance before the break.

Peseiro stated that it was a bad day in office for his side.

“We had 76% of the ball possession against 24% (by Lesotho), the opponents only had two chances to score and scored a goal,” he said after the game.

“We had many chances to score. It was bad luck.”

The Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe in their next game on Tuesday in Kigali.
