Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Virgil van Dijk will battle it out to lift the coveted 2019 Ballon d’Or trophy in Paris on Monday night. Messi, the Barcelona and Argentina star, is favourite to take the prize for a record sixth time but Liverpool’s Dutch defender Van Dijk is expected to provide strong competition. Van Dijk has been guaranteed a place in the top 10 along with Reds team-mates Sadio Mane, goalkeeper Alisson Becker and Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah. The other six confirmed in the top 10 are Messi, ,Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski, Manchester City pair Riyad Mahrez and Bernardo Silva, PSG forward Kylian Mbappe and Juventus sensation Cristiano Ronaldo.
