Spain and Barcelona defender, Gerard Pique has announced his retirement from football at the age of 35.
Pique will play his last home game for the Catalan giant on Sunday at home in Camp Nou before going to play his last game away to Almeria.
Recall that all European football leagues will go on break from November 12 and will only resume back in January 2023.
A social media message from the Spaniard said: “I’ve always said that there would be no other team after Barcelona and that’s how it will be.”
“This Saturday’s game will be my last at Camp Nou.
“I will become another fan and support the team and pass my love for Barcelona onto my kids as my parents did for me.”
Gerard Piqué Bernabeu is a Spanish professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for La Liga club Barcelona. He is considered one of the best defenders of his generation.
Originally one of the most promising students at La Masia, Piqué joined Manchester United in 2004.
