Port Harcourt based side, Rivers United recorded a 1-0 win over visiting Algerian side, USM Alger in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final clash at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo on Sunday.
Augustine Ojejepha scored the only goal of the match in the 10th minute of the first half and all efforts by the home team to score more goals proved abortive.

The hosts wasted several other chances to double their lead in the game and will face a massive task in their bid to scale through it to the semi-final of the competition against the Algerian side in the reverse fixture.
The reverse fixture will hold in Algiers on Sunday evening.
It would be recalled that Rivers United got eliminated at the same stage of the competition last year by Young Africans of Tanzania.
The Nigerian side face a herculean task against the competition’s defending champions in Algiers and must now do everything possible to avoid defeat in Algeria to stand any chance of making it through.
