Chelsea vs Westham: Owen castigates referee Madley for ruling out cornet’s equalizer

Former Three Lions and  Liverpool striker, Michael Owen, has hit out at the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for chalking off Maxwell Cornet’s goal against Chelsea on Saturday.

Cornet had scored from a loose ball to put tally at 2-2 but referee ruled it out for a foul on Mendy.

However, the VAR officials on duty asked referee Andrew Madley to check the pitchside monitor.

Owen tweeted after the match: “The decision to rule out that West Ham goal is an absolute shocker.

“The GK dives at his feet, what’s he meant to do?”

Chelsea went down to Antonio’s goal before fighting back to win 2-1, thanks to goals from Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz.
