How Arsenal from 1-0 down took 3 points against West Ham

Arsenal on Boxing Day put their title credentials on display, netting thrice in the second half to overcome a 1-0 deficit and take all three points against West Ham.

Said Benrahma’s opener from the spot after 27 minutes stood as the only goal for another half-hour, when Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka combined to drag the Gunners back level.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Gabriel Martinelli would capitalise on the momentum and dispatch a near-post finish past Lukasz Fabianski just five minutes later, to give Mikel Arteta’s side a first lead of the day.

The defence would hold resolutely from there, preventing Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen from combining as effectively as they did in the first period to prevent David Moyes from snatching his first ever win at Emirates Stadium.

Eddie Nketiah would add the cherry on top with a lovely finish after rolling his defender to give Arsenal a well-deserved third goal that put the result beyond doubt. The three points put Arsenal seven clear of second-place Newcastle, while West Ham stay 16th.

Arsenal are in action again on December 31, when they travel to play Brighton and Hove Albion. West Ham return home on December 30 to host Brentford.

Whatever happens, Arsenal will end 2022 top of the Premier League.
