Madrid president to make contract offer to Messi

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is prepared to make a sensational move for Lionel Messi this summer.

The Barcelona superstar is weighing up his future after a trophyless season and their 8-2 Champions League humiliation at the hands of Bayern Munich.

There has been claims of Messi informing Barca directors on the weekend that he wished to leave before the start of next season.

And El Chiringuito’s Josep Pedrerol says among the European giants monitoring the situation is Real Madrid and Florentino.

Pedrerol insists should Messi be granted a free transfer that Florentino will “try his luck” by making a contract offer to the Argentine.

In his current deal, which has less than a year to run, Messi’s buyout clause is set at €700m.
