Nigeria in talks with Egypt over possible friendly

Both Egypt and Nigeria have qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Egypt were drawn into Group A with hosts Russia, South American heavyweights Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia. Meanwhile, Nigeria were drawn into Group D with Messi’s Argentina, first timer’s Iceland, and Croatia.

“We’re looking at three countries. We want to play in Abuja. We haven’t finalized, but Egypt is one of them,” Mohamed Sanusi, Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation announced.

President of the NFF Amahu Pinnick has revealed that Nigeria will play a friendly on May 27, but the opposition team has not been revealed.

The Polish National Team have already announced plans to play a friendly against Nigeria on March 23 with the Municipal Stadium the likely venue.

The last time the two teams played one another was in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in Alexandria when Ramadan Sobhi scored the goal to send Egypt to AFCON for the first time in seven years.

Egypt will start their first World Cup in 28 years against Uruguay on June 15, 2018, while Nigeria will face Croatia on June 16, 2018
