The race for the highest goals scorer of the 2022 FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar is hotting up pretty well.
The Qatar 2022 World Cup has reached the quarter-final stage proper and here are the major contenders for the golden boot.
Kylian Mbappe
The French talisman and man of the moment at the World Cup, Kyllian Mbappe leads the pack with five goals to his credit and still counting.
The Young chap scored three goals in the group stage of the tournament, one against Australia and two against Denmark.
He scored another brace again in France’s 3-0 thumping of Poland in the second round game to take his tally to five.
Should Mbappe remain fit in the remainder of the competition, he’s been dubbed the favourite for the golden boot award of the 2022 Mundial.
Goncalo Ramos
Coming behind Mbappe is wonderboy, Concalo Ramos after he scored a hattrick against Switzerland in the last second round fixture on Tuesday.
The Youngman replaced Ronaldo in that game and shone like a million stars by helping Portugal demolish Switzerland 6-1 to progress to the quarter-final stage.
Gonçalo Matias Ramos is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays as a forward for Primeira Liga club Benfica.
Ramos came through Benfica’s youth academy. He began playing for Benfica B in 2019 and was promoted to the first team a year later.
Should he continue his blistering form, Ramos will give Mbappe a run for his money.
Lionel Messi
Old war horse, Lionel Messi has also shown the qualities he’s made off. The Paris Saint Germain forward has three goals already to his credit and great intent of scoring more goals in the competition.
Apparently, his last Mundial, Messi is doing everything possible to end on a high, the Argentine is looking forward to winning silverware at the Mundial to end his World Cup career on a high.
Alvaro Morata
Alvaro Morata is another Player who gave a hot pursuit for the Golden boot award but unfortunately, it suffered a dim when he got booted out alongside his teammates by Morocco in the second round of the Mundial in Qatar.
Apparently, his dream may have been short-lived with his three goals at the competition but he remains on course for silverware too if things work out for him.
