After recording an emphatic 2-0 win over Senegal in its first game of the Mundial, Netherlands today settled for a 1-1 draw with South American side Ecuador.

Netherlands drew the first blood so early in the encounter when Davy Klassen capitalizes on some loose play from Ecuador outside the box. He taps it forward then sends a diagonal pass to  Cody Gakpo.

Gakpo needed just One touch to control before taking aim with his left foot and rocketing the ball past Hernan Galindez for the Dutch’s first inside five minutes.

Upon resumption of the second half, Moises Caicedo won possession and fed Pervis Estupinan with a pass. His drive is well saved by Andries Noppert but Enner Valencia shows his striker’s instincts to tap in the rebound  to equalize for  Ecuador.

The Ecuador players celebrate on the floor in a circle while the Dutch defenders appeal for an offside flag that ain’t coming.

Enner Valencia  has scored all Ecuador’s goals in the encounter and tops the goal scorer’s chart at the moment.
