Song thank fans, Cameroon govt. after recovering from stroke

Former Liverpool star Rigobert Song has been pictured for the first time since suffering a stroke nine weeks ago.

The 40-year-old, Cameroonian legend, fell into a coma for two days back in October after having a cerebral aneurysm at his home in the Odza neighbourhood in Yaounde, Cameroon.

Song was flown to France for further treatment after waking and is said to be ‘recovering steadily.’

Cameroon’s government spared no expense in making sure the ex-defender, received the finest treatment available, reportedly spending £78,000 on his treatment.

Song recently came out to thank them and the fans for their support during the traumatic ideal.

‘I feel good right now,’ he said. ‘I was aware of a lot of things, thanks to the support that our government gave me in this matter.

‘I have to thank them; Cameroon President Paul Biya and his wife first lady Chantal Biya.

‘I also felt the support of the people of Cameroon, which gave me positive energy and gave me courage to get better.’
