Transfer: Mbeumo to undergo Man Utd medical

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Brentford to sign forward Bryan Mbeumo who will complete his medical this weekend.

United have had two offers rejected by Brentford, the second for more than £60M, before coming to an agreement with the Bees on Friday afternoon in a deal that could rise to £70m with £5m of add-ons.

Now, as reported by journalist David Ornstein, Mbeumo will complete his medical this weekend before being announced as a United player much to the delight of fans who have been crying out for reinforcements in attack.

“Bryan Mbeumo expected to undergo medical this weekend ahead of completing transfer from Brentford to Manchester United. Agreement reached between #MUFC & #BrentfordFC today after weeks of negotiations – deal for 25yo worth maximum of £71m.”

he club have their first pre-season friendly against Leeds United in Stockholm on Saturday and Mbeumo is likely to be announced after the game either in the afternoon or on the day after on Sunday.

The 25-year-old is set to become United’s third signing of the summer after completing deals for Wolves striker Matheus Cunha and teenage full-back Diego Leon as the club continues to buy despite the need to sell many of their unwanted assets.

Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia are currently in what is being called the “bomb squad” who have been kicked out by Amorim as the club attempt to sell them before the season begins. After signing Cunha, Mbeumo and Leon the side must sell some of these unwanted players first or risk going against financial rules.
