David de Gea says signing a new long-term deal is proof enough how happy he is with Fiorentina.
De Gea, after penning an initial 12 month deal last summer, has recently inked a new three-year contract to 2028.
In England with Fiorentina for their preseason training camp, De Gea told gathered reporters: “I signed a three-year contract, and that shows I’m happy in Fiorentina.
“I like the fans, the team, and the city, which is incredible. I’m happy here and I think we can have a great season together.
“Being here from day one is better for me, I know all the players and it’s easier than arriving late in the transfer window. It’s wonderful to train in this weather, it’s perfect.”
During their tour, Fiorentina will meet De Gea’s former club Manchester United next week.
The Spaniard added, “The match against Manchester will be very special for me. I played in England for many years and I’m happy to be able to play against English teams and obviously against Manchester.”
