  • Rivers United win Nigeria Professional Football League

    Rivers United Football club have emerged champions of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) making it the first time the Rivers based football club will be winning the title.

    Rivers united have won the title with four games to spare in the current season NPFL season.

    Their emergence as champions comes after second placed Plateau United suffered a 2-1 loss to Akwa United in Uyo ending their mathematical hopes of winning the NPFL title.

    The defeat was Plateau’s fifth consecutive away defeat this season.

    Akwa United took an early lead in the 12th minute from David Onovo’s finish to Adam Yakubu’s assist. Five minutes after conceding, Plateau United blew up a chance from Andrew Ikefe to restore parity after he failed to connect from Haggai Katoh’s set-piece.

    Plateau United eventually got an equaliser in the second half from Jesse Akila’s effort in the 52nd minute.

    But when the visitors must have thought they had secured a draw, Leo Ezekiel scored from Akpesiri’s pass in the third minute of added time.

    Akwa United stays in seventh place with 51 points while Plateau United maintain their second spot with 61 points.

    Rivers United Football Club is a professional football club based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State that participates in the Nigerian Professional Football League, the highest level of domestic Nigerian football. The club was formed by the merger of Sharks F.C. and Dolphins F.C. in 2016

    Liverpool Football club have beaten Villareal at the El Madrigal to complete a double over Villareal in this season’s UEFA champions League

    The result means Liverpool will play in the final for the third time in Five years.

    The Reds beat Villarreal 3-2 in Spain on Tuesday and 5-2 on aggregate to zoom into the final

    The Reds now await the winner of Real Madrid of Spain to set up an all England final or Spain versus England final. The match is set to hold on the 29th of May in Paris.

    YABATECH approves cut-off marks for 2021/2022 admission

    The Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) has approved the cut-off marks for the 2021/2022 Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME) for its National Diploma programme.

    The Deputy Registrar of the college, Mr Joe Ejiofor, disclosed this in an interview on Friday in Lagos.

    Ejiofor said that the admission cut-off marks were released by the Admission Committee after its meeting on Thursday.

    He said that about 9,000 candidates took part in the Post-UTME held online in February.

    “The Admission Committee had a meeting and the outcome is the release of the cut-off marks for those who sat for the Post-UTME in February for ND programme in the college.

    According to him, the cut-off marks have been uploaded to the college portal.

    Ejiofor explained that the cut-off marks superseded the different cut-off marks which had been circulating online purported to be those of the college.

    He, therefore, advised candidates who sat for the Post-UTME to visit the college portal to check their scores.

    Ejiofor said that ND Science Laboratory Technology had the highest score of 62.62 followed by Computer Science with 60.87.

    He also listed some of the departments and their cut-off marks as; Electrical Electronics Engineering, 60.67, Public Administration 60.65 and Accountancy 60.62, among others.
