2022 UTME: 1.4 million candidate sat for examination – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said about 1.4 million candidates have so far sat for its 2022 exercise across the country and their results would soon be released.

The board revealed this in its Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar on Tuesday, in Abuja.

JAMB said the results for its ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) were undergoing a form of scrutiny before being released to candidates.

” About 1.4 million candidates have so far taken the examination across the country with some examination towns and centres completing their own allotted number of candidates for the year.

” The results of sessions already taken will be released soon.

” However, the release of these results is with the caveat that after previewing the CCTV footage of the conduct of the examination, the result of any candidate found wanting would be withdrawn if already released.

” If not yet released, such result would be witheld.”

Thenewsguru.com reports that over 1. 7 million candidates registered for the 2022 exercise and were expected to sit for the ongoing exercise across the country.

JAMB also said that it had no significant concerns as the exercise progressed, adding that the reports coming in from the states established the veracity of the reports earlier received from its centre teams.

It, however, reiterated its zero tolerance for examination infractions and urged candidates to conduct themselves properly, while following the its rules.

Similarly, the board warned Computer Based Tests (CBT) centre owners not to engage in any form of infraction against its operational code that might negatively impact on the exercise.

JAMB said: “The board is not here to subordinate the interest of Nigeria to any other interests. JAMB would, therefore, not tolerate any infraction, no matter how small.

” If the tempo of JAMB activities is too high for any centre, they are to, at liberty, seek other areas of engagement as there are so many things people can do outside partnering with JAMB.”

It further urged centre owners to ensure full compliance with extant rules and regulations in their dealings with the board as there would be no hiding place for any wrongdoer.

The 2022 exercise commenced on May 6 and is scheduled to end on May 16.

JAMB releases 2022 UTME mock results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Monday released the results of the 2022 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted on April 9.

JAMB made this known in its Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar in Abuja.

“Consequently, candidates who sat for the examination are to visit www.jamb.gov.ng and click on ‘2022 Mock Result Checking’ and input their UTME registration number to access their results,” it stated.

Not less than 175, 000 candidates sat for the examination at JAMB’s 757 centres nationwide.

The Registrar of the board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, who spoke to NAN after the Saturday exercise, had expressed satisfaction over the conduct of the exercise nationwide.

Oloyede said that the 175,000 candidates, who wrote the mock examination, were limited to only one session which started between from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

He also assured that the board and all the Computer Based Tests (CBT) centres were ready for the conduct of the 2022 main examination coming up from May 6 to May 16.

A total of 1.8 million candidates were registered for this year’s main UTME.

JAMB delists Brain Point CBT centre from 2022 UTME examination, as 175,000 candidates sat for mock examination

Brain Point CBT centre in Oko-Oba, Lagos State, was delisted from participating in the 2022 UTME examination for system failure, just as 175,000 candidates sat for its mock examination.

This was disclosed by the Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, on Saturday.

According to him, Brain Point Computer-Based Centre (CBT) was delisted for allegedly violating the requirement for the conduct of an effective examination.

“I have done sample inspection in Lagos and Ogun. The turn-out was impressive and we are satisfied with the level of performance.

“In the process, a centre, Brain Point CBT centre in Oko-Oba, Lagos State which could not sustain their generator set is automatically delisted.

“I have given an instruction that the candidates in this should be refunded their full money,” he said.

He said the conduct of the examination was impressive and satisfactory.

Oloyede, who said that the CBT centres were allowed to collect up to N1,000 from candidates instead of the earlier N700, added that they needed to give their best in the conduct of the examination.

The JAMB boss called on some tertiary institutions on the need to maintain their facilities, saying of some their facilities were substandard, and hence needed upgrading.

He however expressed satisfaction with the examinations in all the states of the federation, saying he had gotten reports from officials on the field across the country of a well-conducted examination.

“We are happy with the general performance of the examination and we urge all students to make sure that they learn from the lessons of the mock examination which is to test their ability.

“This is because, it does not follow that when you pass the mock examination; then you automatically pass the main examination.

”The mock examination is just testing so the students should read so that they will have all it takes to pass their examination,” he added.

Oloyede also said that the 175,000 candidates who wrote the mock examination were limited to allowing for only one session which started between 8 a.m. to 10 a.m.

He assured that the board and all the CBT centres were ready for the conduct of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) coming up from May 6 to May 16.

Mock UTME are ready for printout – JAMB tells candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Monday said notification slips for its 2022 mock Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are ready for printout.

The printout was said to contain candidates examination centres.

The board made this known in its Weekly Bulletin from the Office of the Registrar in Abuja.

The board scheduled the mock exercise for April 9.

According to bulletin, “the notification slips can be printed anywhere at the candidates’ convenience by visiting the board’s website at www.jamb.gov.ng.

“The examination slips contain the venue, time, date and other necessary instructions for the examination.”

JAMB said that candidates were expected to pay N1,000 to the Computer Based Tests (CBT) centres where they would sit for the examination as service charge.

It said that, while the service charge was for candidates’ use of the private facilities deployed for the examination at the centres, those posted to JAMB CBT centres would not be required to pay for these services.

The board explained that the increase from the initial N600 to N1, 000 service charges for the mock was due to the prevailing high cost of diesel and other consumables needed to host the exercise.

“The board has thought this through and instead of cancelling the mock UTME, which has improved the confidence of candidates when sitting for the examinations, it is better to increase the service charge.

“This, we believe will make the exercise worthwhile to participating centres,” the bulletin stated.

JAMB had scheduled its 2022 UTME to hold from May 6 to May 16.

2022 UTME: JAMB shifts mock exam, sets new date

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mock examination will now hold on April 9, and not April 16 as earlier scheduled.

The board made this known in its Weekly Bulletin of the Office of the Registrar on Monday in Abuja.

JAMB said that the change was due to the realisation that April 16, earlier scheduled, was an Easter Saturday; a holy Saturday, celebrated by Christians to mark the end of the Lent period before Easter Sunday.

The board also noted that the date for the exercise had been affected also by the shift in date for the registration of the UTME and Direct Entry (DE), which was earlier scheduled for Feb.12, but later commenced on Feb.19.

It, however, urged all candidates who registered and would want to sit for the mock exercise to note the change of date and be prepared.

The 2022 registration commenced on Saturday, Feb.19 and is expected to end on March 26.

The UTME however has been scheduled by JAMB to hold from May 6 to May 16.

In a similar development, JAMB said that it had made significant progress in the ongoing registration of candidates for the 2022 exercise.

According to the board, it has successfully registered over 236,000 candidates on Feb. 26, eight days after the commencement of the registration on Feb.19.

The board, while comparing the statistics with its 2021 exercise, said that it registered only 102,221 candidates within same period of eight days in the 2021 exercise.

JAMB attributed the improvement to its partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), while adding that the seamless process had yielded the desired results.

  • 2022 UTME: JAMB goes cashless with CBT fee

2022 UTME: JAMB goes cashless with CBT fee

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) is set to go totally cashless in its registration process beginning with the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

This was contained in the JAMB’s weekly news magazine, JAMBULLETIN published on Monday.

With the adoption of a new system, JAMB would be collecting the approved N700 registration fee on behalf of the various Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres along with its UTME registration fees.

In its weekly bulletin, issued on Monday and obtained, the examination body said the money due to each registration centre would be remitted to relevant bank accounts on a weekly basis or any timeframe acceptable to the centre owners.

JAMB said its decision to go cashless in the UTME registration exercise would put an end to some of the fraudulent activities of some CBT centres, who charge candidates above stipulated fee.

“This laudable step was borne out of a painstaking review of the entire UTME registration process which has revealed some unethical and unacceptable practices by many Computer-Based Testing (CBT) centres,” the bulletin reads in part.

JAMB had said it has remitted the sum of N3.51b to the national treasury, as part of its 2021 operating surplus. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB Spokesperson made this disclosure on Tuesday, November 2, in Abuja.

The 2021 remittance was part of Prof. Ishaq Oloyede’s avowed commitment to prudent management of public resources. The Board as led by Prof Ishaq Oloyede would continue to prune down the cost of governance and release resources for other needy national prioritized areas.

Similarly, the examination body on Monday, November 8, defended the remittance of its operating surplus to the federal government accounts.

The board said it will continue to remit its excesses in line with global best practices to the federal government. JAMB in a statement signed by its head of public affairs, Fabian Benjamin, said its action to remit proportion of its operational surplus is also line with the extant government’s directive on the remittances.
