2023: Obi remains best presidential candidate among all – Prof Utomi

…vows LP will beat daylight out of other candidates

Professor Pat Utomi the convener of the Big Tent Support Group for Obi/Datti on Wednesday said Peter Obi remains the best presidential candidate among all the presidential candidates eyeing President Muhamadu Buhari’s job in 2023.

TheNewsGuru.com, (TNG) reports the Professor of Business disclosed this at a press briefing in Abuja chronicling the laid down procedures to achieve massive landmarks at the forthcoming polls.

He said :”An umbrella contain thrust, which is a campaign council which includes leaders of all the support groups, includes the leaders of the various political parties including the APCs of this world, the ARP, all of those are in this big tent.
And each will deploy, just like the Dr Gana and his group, they campaign across northern Nigeria, jingles and advertisement with Kannywood stars in Hausa, Kannywood stars they broke across the country, this one group that is what they are doing.

“They have people on ground in every states of the federation and this is just one part of the movement. We can take the same thing from the labour movement particularly from Labour Party, you can add Labour Party, you can add these other parties, what they are trying therefore to do is to create a college of actors.

“And so we described the structure as an organic bulb of complex redundancy. What is an organic bulb, if you look at the onion, the onion is an organic bulb and you have layers that you can peel away.

“So if something goes wrong at one level, the next level catches it and you have a failsafe system. I draw from two disciplines to illustrate complex redundancy, one is engineering. Take aviation for example, every going jet has like three or four fallbacks.

“Now if you look at it statistically, a Boeing Aircraft does not fall to a fallback up to 1 percent of the time, so why do you have a second and a third fallback because the culture of engineering it to ensure safety at whatever cost.

“Now as a professor of business, I can tell you that this constantly brings fight between finance people and the engineering people because finance people will say this is a waste of money, why do we need fallbacks.

“But if you go to political science, this same phenomenon exist, I was trying to justify why for example, if there is a law to be made on banking, it first goes to the floor of the US Congress, where it is read, discussed and debated and it is sent down to the finance committee where it is discussed, debated and position taken and it is further sent down to the banking subcommittee who then have public hearing and after all these, work the process back again and within this process is complex redundancy which is why laws when it comes out of that system, are very free and tight and serve the people better because it takes in the inputs of the experts, the stakeholders, everybody through that process.

“The campaign structure is deploying a campaign structure of the organic bulb of complex redundancy and we know, we don’t think, we know that with this structure, we are going to beat daylight out of these fellows at the polls next year.

“Amongst the many organs of this process, is for example, what we call a policy review and future….. Now what is that? That is a standing body of people who have specific focal interest whether it is housing, manufacturing, whatever activity area of government, these people who are in this team are supported by what we call the deep dive teams. These are going to be like 16 on average group of experts drawn from Nigerians all over the world.

“For example healthcare, we have Nigerian doctors, administrators from all over the world, a lot of who are in this deep dive team. From their deep dives they present positions to the focal persons for health in the future view policy team who then come to the team and make presentations of what we should be doing about healthcare.

“Three or four weeks ago, we took that of healthcare. We meet every week on Wednesdays just like the Nigerian cabinet meets, so we will have a meeting this evening of this team.

“And the team takes its position on issues which is then first of all uses to advice the candidate that represents the Labour Party Peter Gregory Obi and Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed, then take a brief view of what has come through this and they can use it to speak to issues.

“In addition to that, we use it to create an atmosphere of public conversation around those issues because unless we have an enlightened electorates, we don’t have democracy.

“One of the best thinker on democracy in the world today, he is still alive is the German Yourghen Kebamas. He is the philosopher of modernity and of the public sphere and he said that democracy in modernity is about rational public conversation, that is what we lack in Nigeria.

“If we have rational public conversation, 80 percent of the people who represents us, will not be in public office because they lack the capacity to engage in rational public conservation.

“So this struggle is about getting rid of these kinds of people who are supposed to be our representatives and getting people who have knowledge, who have compassion for the people, to step forward and serve the people.

“The reward of public life is not the size of your bank account, it is not in the motorcade that escorts you. The British Prime Minister, the day that he leaves office, he walks with his bag away on foot or on his bicycle. And eve as prime minister, he has just two cars, he is on car, one car in front, that’s all.

“But here we have to intimidate Nigerians, push them off the roads so that they know we are big men and government causes…..to run. We must cut the cost of governing to be barest minimum because the resources that are required to improve the lives of Nigerians are currently being used by politicians to make themselves look, I don’t know what to use to describe them; it is undemocratic, it is inhuman, whatever language I will now add to it, but they don’t recognize it because they don’t have the sense of it because they are not democrats because they are just agent to the people, in service to the people and yet what it is, is that they become lords over the people, that is not what democracy is all about.

“And the campaign is about returning us to democracy, it is about taking our country back. And all of us have a duty to educate the people to this essence of why we are here.

“The Nigerian people have spoken, they have said they are tired of this old order, they will wait for us to release our manifesto then they will copy it, add some things and come out and shout this is our manifesto but in their heads, they have no plans to implement them.

“They have all the monies they have taken from our treasury, they will use it to make flash of all of these things.

“I wrote the last one and I am saying to you that they didn’t implement the things we wrote. In fact at point they said who said we promised that, we didn’t promise it, it is some people who wrote it and called it our manifesto, we must hold people accountable.

“All those who failed us yesterday we must indeed I say to you that if we have a sense of shame in this country, there should be many rallies about APC but they should be rallies of apologies, sorry we failed you.

“Now they are saying for example, get rid of insecurity in 6months, they’ve said it before, what kind of broken record is this? Is this an insult to the Nigerian people? You and I know better.

“I will close with this, there was a group of young people who thought they will demystify a sage. So they came to the sage, they had a small bird in their hand behind them, they said great sage, if you are so wise, tell us, this bird we are holding, is it dead or is it alive.

“And the sage smiled and he said young people, if I say the bird is dead, you will release it and it will fly off. If I say it is alive, you will squeeze it to death and say here is a dead bird.

“Young people, the life of that bird is in your hands. The future of Nigeria is in your hands

Exposed: How Tinubu allegedly bribed Afenifere leaders to get endorsed for 2023 – Adebanjo

Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Chief Ayo Adebanjo has alleged that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu of bribed some members of the group to cause division within, ahead of the 2023 general election.

Adebanjo, who made the allegation while speaking on Sunday with an online medium said he’s not ready to engage Tinubu, whom he accused of inducing a few members of Afenifere to curry favour in his preparation for the polls.

He insisted that Afenifere had already endorsed Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) for the next year’s election based on principle.

“Tinubu bribed some people with little money to put up a show that there’s a division in Afenifere. I won’t engage him and those he gave money to because we have already made our position clear that Peter Obi is our candidate. Peter Obi as president will serve our interest better than Tinubu,”.

This reaction from Adebanjo is coming after Tinubu’s visit to Reuben Fasoranti, a foremost leader of Afenifere, at his hometown of Akure, Ondo capital, on Sunday.

Adebanjo, who took over as the leader of the Afenifere in March 2021 after Fasoranti, 96, stepped down from the leadership of the pan-Yoruba group during a meeting held at his residence, had consistently expressed his disavowal to Tinubu’s presidential bid.

Tinubu had stormed Fasoranti’s residence in the company of Bisi Akande, a former interim chairman of the APC; Iyiola Omisore, APC National Secretary; Pius Akinyelure, a Former National Vice Chairman of the APC South-West Zone; Dayo Adeyeye, National Chairman, Southwest Agenda for Tinubu 2023 presidential ambition (SWAGA), among others.

The APC presidential candidate shortly after his arrival immediately went into a close door meeting with Fasoranti where he received the “blessing” of the Afenifere leader.

However, some members of the pan-Yoruba group, which included Adebanjo and the Secretary-General, Sola Ebiseni, completely stayed away from the meeting held inside the compound of Fasoranti.

During the visit, Tinubu was endorsed for the 2023 presidency by the leaders of the Afenifere, who attended the meeting amid the division in the pan-Yoruba group.

The leaders of the group, who were from the six South-West states including Kwara and Kogi, said that the APC presidential candidate remained the best choice for Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the Afenifere leaders, Sehinde Arogbofa, the group’s former General Secretary, said Tinubu is a true son of Yoruba land, hence their support for him in the 2023 election.

Arogbofa told Tinubu to address the issue of insecurity and restructuring with all seriousness if elected the next president of Nigeria.

He also pleaded with the APC presidential candidate to be a leader that will unite Nigeria and work for the progress and development of the country.

“You are not just a Yoruba man but a Nigerian. When you become President, consider Nigeria in all you do but never forget home.

“Our demands are what you know already. Restructuring, security, and fixing the economy. Our country is no longer safe. We want state police so that the country will be safe,” the Afenifere leader said.

While presenting his manifesto tagged “Renewed Hope” to the Afenifere leaders, Tinubu said he has continued to receive massive support for his presidential ambition from the North adding that he would be fair to all regions if elected.

He added that his ambition was to turn things around for the better in the country, boasting that he would win the 2023 election.

“So, anybody that would defeat me in the race shall sweat,” Mr Tinubu added.
