    Nothing can stop Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 – Jandor

Dr Abdul-Azeez Adediran (Jandor), the 2023 PDP Governorship Candidate in Lagos State  and Lead Visioner of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, says his assignment presently is working towards  the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

Adediran  said this during a rally to announce his return to the  APC in Ojo area of Lagos  on  Friday.

Recall that Adediran had on March 3 resigned from the PDP and  announced his return to his former party, APC.

Addressing his supporters at the rally, Adediran said with the positive  results of  Tinubu’s people-centred reforms and recent defections into the party, nothing could stop the President’s re-election in 2027.

He said: “Our conviction to come back home is as a result of the reforms that Mr President is doing.

“Removal of fuel subsidy makes Tinubu a selfless President because he would have ordinarily allowed the status quo to remain to secure  second term in office.

“The President is poised about doing what is best for the country and the reforms are yielding results for the country now.

“That is why we are going to do everything humanly possible to make sure we work for his re-election.

“Our priority is to ensure that we see to how this man will return in 2027 to give to further reposition the country, “,he said.

Adediran, who noted that though he did not  win as  PDP candidate in 2023, his struggle however opened up political opportunities for people of Badagry division in APC .

Appreciating APC for warmly receiving him into the party , Adediran urged his followers to start work in earnest for the President’s re-election in 2027.

In his response, the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, who noted that the party was proud to have Adediran and his team back, urged the leaders to accommodate the team.

Urging APC members to keep working hard for the progress of the party, Ojelabi said that Tinubu would always reward hardworking loyalists.

“Put in your best. Let your best be known to all of us. We are there to recognise you. We are going to do everything possible to integrate you.

“Let us come together. We are going to use our own votes as investment to be able to negotiate for involvement in the government,” he said.

He said that Adediran would contribute his quota to the  growth of  the party.

Meanwhile, Mr Olushola Idowu, the Chairman of Ojo Local Government, described the return of Adediran as a good addition to APC, especially in Ojo Local Government, urging party members to welcome him and his followers with open arms.

Also speaking, Mr Kayode Robert,  Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, commended Adediran for his courage to return to the ruling party.

Hundreds of Adediran’s loyalists from the Lagos4Lagos Movement and PDP were present at the rally.

Among dignitaries at the rally were the Lagos State APC Chairman, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi: former Deputy Governor, Sarah Sosan,  federal and state lawmakers and other party leaders.

  • We are ready to take over power in 2027 – SDP

We are ready to take over power in 2027 – SDP

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Thursday declared its readiness to take over power in Nigeria in 2027.

Abubakar Dogara, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the North-Central Zone, made the statement during the SDP North-Central Zonal Caucus meeting in Nasarawa State.

Dogara described the SDP as “the new bride of Nigeria,” claiming that the party’s membership is growing rapidly across the country.

“We are holding meetings at the zonal, national, ward, state, and local government levels.

“It’s all part of our preparations. Our membership cards are consistently exhausted at the state level,” he said.

He added that the party was building strong grassroots structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“So, we are preparing to take over the leadership of the country come 2027, by the grace of God. I believe SDP is now the bride of the nation,” Dogara said.

He urged Nigerians to join the party at their respective wards and support its candidates to transform the country’s political narrative.

Also speaking at the meeting, Idoko Idoto, the Benue State Chairman of the SDP, expressed confidence in the party’s chances in the next elections.

“Come 2027, I assure you, SDP is coming with full force. SDP will take over Benue State and Nigeria.

“We’ll win all the senatorial seats, House of Representatives, and the State Assembly will not be left out,” he said.

Idoto also recalled that the party had once governed Benue State, affirming that it had a solid foundation to build upon for future success.

  • Primate Ayodele reveals prophecies on 2027 elections, security threats

Primate Ayodele reveals prophecies on 2027 elections, security threats

As the 2027 general elections draw closer, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has released a new wave of prophecies warning of political turbulence, heightened insecurity, and divine revelations that could reshape Nigeria’s future.

In an exclusive interview with Sunday Tribune, the renowned cleric, known for past predictions that have reportedly come to pass, declared that President Bola Tinubu’s return in 2027 is far from guaranteed. According to Ayodele, God has revealed three individuals who, if they enter the presidential race, could end Tinubu’s political reign.

“I will not mention their names now,” Ayodele said. “But when the time comes, I’ll point them out boldly. If any one of them contests, Tinubu will not return.”

While warning against electing former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Labour Party’s Peter Obi — saying both would lead Nigeria to “tragedy” or “collapse” — Ayodele surprisingly stated that Tinubu remains the best option under current circumstances. However, he insisted that Tinubu’s future depends on critical decisions and divine alignment.

    SECURITY WARNING AND PRESIDENCY ALERT
Ayodele issued a serious security warning, claiming President Tinubu’s safety has been compromised. He specifically mentioned a threat of poisoning within the Presidential Villa and called for heightened protection for First Lady Remi Tinubu.

“There is a poisoning threat. The cooks must be changed. A gunshot incident may even occur inside the Villa if care is not taken,” he warned.

He also urged the replacement of the Inspector General of Police, stating that the country’s current security architecture is vulnerable to escalating threats, including the emergence of a new terrorist group.

    STATE-BY-STATE POLITICAL FORECAST
The cleric offered extensive insight into state-level political dynamics. In Rivers State, he confirmed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s feud with his predecessor Nyesom Wike was divinely foretold. He also predicted turbulence in states such as Imo, Delta, Abia, Oyo, and Adamawa.

In Delta, he forecast political cracks within the APC and warned of a potential bombing attempt. In Oyo, he spoke of religious tensions and the rising influence of political blocs from the Oke-Ogun region.

    NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL OUTLOOK
Ayodele prophesied future international tensions, including a warning against allowing France to set up a military base in Nigeria — an act he believes would bring “disaster.” He also forecast major natural disasters such as flooding across multiple Nigerian states and predicted temporary telecom shutdowns affecting Glo, MTN, and Airtel.

On the global stage, he reiterated earlier warnings about political developments in the U.S., Ghana, and other African nations, noting that many of his previous prophecies have already come true.

    HEALTH WARNINGS AND PUBLIC FIGURES
The spiritual leader also called for prayers for several notable personalities, including former Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson, Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, and Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi. He warned of potential health scares and advised caution for judges and politicians alike.

Despite the ominous tone of many of his predictions, Primate Ayodele expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, saying the country would eventually see a revival in oil wealth, global respect for its passport, and even a national rebranding symbolized by a change in its flag.

“Nigeria has a great future,” he declared. “But only if her leaders heed the signs.”

  • 2027: Rehearsing an Unlikely Coronation – By Chidi Amuta

2027: Rehearsing an Unlikely Coronation – By Chidi Amuta

The Tinubu presidency has shown utter disrespect for Nigerians. It is above all insensitive to the suffering and hardship of most Nigerians. Instead of rendering a sensible mid term account of its mandate, the administration is celebrating the onset of the 2027 presidential election race.  A clear two years to the end of its tenure, major political voices in the ruling party are already predicting a sweeping Tinubu re -election victory and his coronation as the king hereafter.

The administration has cornered public opinion and its vulnerable opponents into a mindset that the most urgent national challenge of the moment is the 2027 election. The central question of the polity is being recast as: who succeeds Tinubu? Of course, there is a trusm that groundless optimism is the most common disease of political animals. Show me a politicians that is not optimistic of victory at the next election and I will point at a platoon of wise fools!

We are at the mid term of a tenure that promised Nigerians nearly every opposite of the Buhari interregnum. Mr. Buhari, easily the most disastrous leader of modern Nigeria before the Tinubu catastrophe, had run the nation literally aground before tenure expiration saved him from himself  and rescued the nation from what was clearly the world’s most tragic instance of bad governance. Mounting debts, incoherent policies, perennial absenteeism of the leader,  disastrous elocution, embarrassing aloofness and industrial scale corruption were the hallmarks of the Buhari era. In the history of Nigeria, never had a Central Bank Governor been charged with the magnitude of treasury looting as Buhari’s Godwin Emefelie.

Then came Tinubu on the wagon of one of the most disgraceful elections in national history. A mandate secured on a razor thin majority of less than 30% of registered voters ushered in what has so far turned out to be Nigeria’s most clueless dispensations. Tinubu promised nothing. He said little that any one found coherent. No one recalls making sense of his campaign gibberish, They said he promised to  right the wrongs of the Buhari era even though he was running on the same party ticket as his Daura friend. In all fairness, no one remembers what exactly Tinubu said he was going to do with power. His only mission was to pack into a rent free Aso Villa. But two years after, here we are with a presidency that has turned our lives into two years in purgatory. The only Nigerians who now harbor any hope of a reprieve from hell are the few partakers in the feast of pork and patronage in Abuja.

Nearly every indicator of hardship is on digital display in today’s Nigeria. The majority can ill afford the next meal. Hunger has emerged as a national epidemic for the first time in our history. Access to electric  power has shrunk to the extent that even the Presidential Lodge in Abuja can hardly afford to pay its power bills and now has to install a solar panel to save costs.

Insecurity  has enveloped the entire national space, compelling informed people to suggest that the Ministry of Defense should be scrapped and replaced with an omnibus  Ministry of  Internal Security as all available security infrastructure and personnel all over the country have been deployed to joint internal security operations with hardly any tangible results.

Bandits, kidnappers, serial abductors and sundry gun men and women rule the highways and streets while official security personnel have since been outgunned by non -state agents and vigilantes of unknown nomenclature. A supposedly modern Nigerian state with well funded armed forces and over decorated officers is now shamelessly enlisting the services of native hunters, medicine men and charmers to stave off the forces of insecurity across the land.

It is this myriad of afflictions and failures that threaten the existence of the Nigerian state. It is these threats to national existence and the integrity of the Nigerian state that those who voted in 2023 are demanding that Tinubu and his gang should account for. At this mid term hour, Nigerians are asking for affordable food, essential drugs, affordable building materials, access to affordable education in schools without leaky roofs and guarantee of basic safety in their daily lives. It is accountability for these pressing basic needs and problems that demand urgent attention as the Tinubu government marks two years in office. National political offices that were meant to go round and give us all a sense of belonging to one nation have been cornered into one corner of our commonwealth.

To ignore these basic needs of the people and shunt public attention to the 2027 succession political battle is the height of insincerity and political deceit. To jump from that fraud to speculation as to why Tinubu deserves a second term in office is worse than mass deceit. It can only be that the administration is investing more energy  in mass deceit and amnesia than the real grind of governance. The efforts of the government  seem to be geared more towards succession politics than real time governance on a daily basis.

The obstacle to this deceptive politics is perhaps the possibility of an opposition coalition to challenge the APC in 2027. To counter this obstacle, whatever fickle opposition there is in the political space is being squeezed into a survival mode. The Peoples Democratic Party and its mascot, Mr. Atiku Abubakar, have been reduced to an unsettled chaotic herd. No one knows which executive now runs the party as conflicting factions engage each other in either fisticuffs  or silly litigations in various courts across the land. Corrupt judges that have to adjudicate in these cases are having a ball with their bankers. The special squad of destabilizers led by the ubiquitous FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, are having a busy time disorganizing the PDP all over the country. If indeed the PDP survives between now and the eve of 2027, it will be a ghost of its former robust self.

The Tinubu task force on political ‘realignment’ is leaving nothing to chance. It recognizes the potential danger posed by the Peter Obi –led Labour Party. An increasingly popular political movement led by a charismatic political ‘good man’ cannot be ignored. Obi’s Labour Party and its back -up Obidient Movement presented a veritable threat to Tinubu’s ascendancy in 2023. Therefore, two active factions of  demolishers are at work on the Labour Party.

One faction of thugs led by one Lamidi Apapa has been busy challenging both the legitimacy and very existence of the party in court. A slightly more targeted attack is being led from within by Mr. Abure who ordinarily would be the Chairman of the party. In a recent move, Mr. Abure and his fellow travelers have suspended a slew of high level party members including a senator and the only state governor on the ticket of the party, Mr. Alex Otti of Abia state.

Beyond these party based destabilization antics, the incumbent government and ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has unleashed squads of recruiters all over the country who are busy attracting defectors and converts from other parties into the ruling party. So far, the results have been impressive. The most spectacular outcome has been recorded in Delta state where the incumbent governor and his immediate predecessor have defected to the APC. In addition, these political leaders decamped from the PDP with all their local government leaders. It is significant that Dr. Okowa, the immediate past governor of the state was also the vice presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 election. The Delta defection is therefore an arrow in the heart of the PDP in the strategic Niger Delta region.

There have been numerous other defections into the APC from other parties and political formations across the country. There is now a palpable fear in the political space that if the rate continues, the vast majority of politicians in the country would by the eve of the 2027 election be in the APC.

Fears have been expressed about the possibility of Nigeria ending up as a one -party democracy with other parties ending up as fringe minority parties. Former president Goodluck Jonathan has added his voice to those of opposition politicians like Atiku Abubakar in this regard. But some key opposition politicians have waved this possibility off, insisting that what is going on is the result of a political herd mentality.

Politicians are trooping to the ruling party where they think the bulk of patronage is flowing. Nigerian politics is principally about instant pork and patronage. Very few Nigerian politicians want to be left out in the cold of political wilderness.  The APC hasdeployed poverty to attract membership.

There is however an overriding political curiosity and worry about the gale of defections and mass migration into the APC in particular. At a time of grave national disquiet about worsening social and economic conditions throughout the country, it is curious that the mass of political followers should be tempted to join the very political party whose leadership has literally run the country aground. Clearly, there must be forces beyond naked political sentiments driving the entire movement.

The consequences are many and could be dire. An early start of campaigns for elections that are two years away  could lead to a vast dissipation of resources and political energy that would in fact make the fledgling opposition forces more attractive. The gathering of divergent political interests and tendencies in one inchoate ruling party could inject disequilibrium into the mechanism of the ruling party and lead to a pre-election implosion. A very large political party could prove difficult to manage and therefore come apart on its own weight.

This is not to under estimate the optimistic projections of Mr. Tinubu’s strategists and planners. On the more optimistic side, it is quite possible that what APC strategists are planning is for a 2027 race with little or no significant internal or external opposition movement. If most political voices were to be drowned inside one party, the choice of candidates, especially the presidential candidate, would be a serial ritual endorsement. In a more or less one party configuration, Mr. Tinubu would literally be returned unopposed as his party’s candidate at every party primary convention and be elected with minimal opposition. In line with that simplistic line of thought, Mr. Tinubu could head effortlessly to a coronation at Eagle Square.

There is a lazy trait in this line of thinking that conforms to Mr. Tinubu’s authoritarian mode of politics and leadership. He has railroaded the National Assembly into becoming a glorified rubber stamp conclave with literally no opposition on vital legislations like the reversion to the old National Anthem,  tax bills, successive national budgets etc.

More worrisomely, Mr. Tinubu has carried on more like an emperor than a democratically elected president. He identifies his interests in the system. He then gets people to convert these interests into legislative bills or projects. He then proceeds to procure a National Assembly rubber stamp or Executive Council approval. It is popularly speculated that each approval sought by the president has a price tag and once the transactional details are fine tuned, the road is clear either to railroad an unpopular legislation or the award of yet another Lagos to Calabar Alaskan highway contract.

The road to a second term coronation for the Tinubu presidency is however strewn with booby traps and political land mines. The assumption that all politically minded Nigerians will end up in the APC by the eve of 2027 is naïve and even a bit foolish. The vast majority of voting Nigerians will hardly become card carrying members of any party.

Irrespective of who is in the parties, the solid majority  of ordinary Nigerians remain the victims of the incompetence of this government. They are not about to join any parties and do notneed to doso to reject an unpopular government at the polls. The greater the level of incompetence of the government, the higher their demand for voters cards and the greater their hunger to vote out the fraudulent bunch. We had a foretaste of this in 2023. The combined population of voters for both the Labour Party and the PDP overwhelmed the minority that voted for the APC.

It was the instrumentality of INEC’s dubious complicity and the division in the votes of the PDP and Labour Party that saved the APC thinly from deserved humiliation.

What is likely to abort the infantile projection of a Tinubu coronation in 2027 is therefore the continued rejection of the APC by the majority of the poor, deprived and angry Nigerians who do not care about formal party membership. The challenge of the next election is for INEC to expand its voter portal to accommodate all those who want to vote in 2027. And for the majority of Nigerians, the challenge of 2027 is not the mass migration of members into the APC. Party members are always a negligible variable in voter turnout. It is the mass of non- partisan voters that troop out to make their voice heard that matter most. They will decide who succeeds Tinubu, not the unthinking herd of “follow follow” party migrants.

Ultimately, then, the political destiny of the country still rests with the caliber of opposition coalition that the incompetence of the APC forces into existence. That opposition coalition must be everything that the APC has failed to be. We desire and deserve a credible, competent and coherent opposition with a clear national outlook. It must consist of persons of character with proven records. Above all else, we need a social democratic coalition that can carry the majority of Nigerians along a populist path to create and distribute Nigeria’s wealth for the good of all.

  • INEC chairman, commissioners should not write election results – Atiku

INEC chairman, commissioners should not write election results – Atiku

Giving an instance of the recent presidential election in Turkey, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has called for a new Electoral Act that allows for electronic collation of election results.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Atiku made the call on Friday in Abuja at the inauguration and conference of a political movement known as Nigerian Youths for Atiku (NYFA).

Speaking at the event, the former Vice President called on Nigerian youths to confront the challenges facing the country’s electoral process, including the manual collation of election results.

The 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate urged the youths to pressurise the National Assembly to amend the electoral law to allow for electronic collation of election results.

According to him, it is doubtful if the current National Assembly will facilitate a new Electoral Act that allows for electronic collation of election results to be successful.

He said that political leaders always did not want to improve the electoral process because they wanted to explore the loopholes in the process for their own advantage. He said that such would only continue if the youth allowed it.

“I remember the last Turkish presidential elections. I was sitting and watching the results coming electronically. By the Turkish constitution, you must score 50 per cent to be elected as a president.

“The current president scored 49.5 per cent. There  was no manual collation but they said he didn’t score 50 per cent,” he said.

He further said: “We all know that in our arithmetic or mathematics we say if you get 49.5 you round it up to 50, not so?

“That was what we were taught in school. They didn’t round it up to 50. Instead they ordered another round of election.

“The guy who came third with about 4 per cent now endorsed the first candidate, and when the results were ccounted it came out exactly 49.5 plus 4 per cent and Erdogan was declared winner.”

The former vice president noted that the collation was done all electronically, with no room for a manual coalition at the ward, at the local government, at the state.

“No INEC chairman, commissioners writing result. There was absolutely nothing like manual collation. So, we really have a long way to go.

“There are challenges but you must dedicate yourselves to confronting those challenges. If you don’t dedicate yourself to confronting those challenges you have no future,’’ he said.

Abubakar, who said he had been in politics since his student days because he wanted a better future for Nigerian youth, urged them to rise up and defend their future.

He emphasised that the youth must rise up and protect their future, saying their future was now in their hands.

“At my time, what we wanted to see was a return to democracy. We fought the military. I was nearly killed. I went on exile. There is nothing they did not do to me.

“What I wanted to see was a return to democracy. We have seen a return to democracy. But has democracy provided us what we were expecting it to provide us? No.

“That now becomes your own responsibility. Ours is to guide you and give you the necessary leadership,’’ he said.

Abubakar commended the leadership and members of NYFA for the honour done him, adding that the association was not just about him, but the advancement of Nigeria’s democracy.

He urged the association to continue to contribute to the development of Nigeria’s democracy, particularly improving Nigeria’s electoral process.

“This organisation is dedicated to the development of our youth, who are the future leaders of our country.

“Don’t just see yourselves as youths but see yourselves as the leaders of this country in the future.

“Commit and dedicate yourselves to the promotion and advancement of our democratic processes that will lead us to a much more united and prosperous country,’’ he said.

In her remarks, NYFA President, Prof. Gold Emmanuel, described the NYFA, which birthed in 2024 after the 2023 general elections, as a way forward to shaping the future of the youth and generations to come.

The Guest Speaker, Prof. Kolapo Eleka, a former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, urged Nigerian youth to push for electoral reforms now, not after election malpractices had occurred.

“For example, we must push for direct transmission of resources at polling units to curb and prevalent, dubious conditions at higher levels,’’ Eleka said.

He also stressed the need for statutory backing for technology introduced to improve the Nigerian election process, especially electronic transmission of election result.

Emmanuel, a Senior Special Assistant to Abubakar on Communications and Intelligence, pledged the association’s commitment to supporting the vision of Abubakar.

“Today marks a significant milestone in our journey to mobilise, empower and amplify the voices of Nigerian youths in the political process.

“We gather at a time when our nation is at the crossroads, facing numerous challenges that require the energy, creativity and idealism of our generation.

“As NYFA, we are committed to supporting the vision of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“He is a leader who has consistently demonstrated leadership, provide the necessary platform for us to realize our aspiration and build a better future for ourselves and our nation,’’ she said.

Emmanuel urged NYFA members to remain committed to their core values of inclusivity, social justice, and democratic participation.

She also urged them to work together to build a movement that was truly representative of the diversity, talent, and resilience of Nigerian youths.

Also, NYFA Director of Communications, Mr Dare Dada, described Atiku Abubakar as a lover of youth worthy of emulation.

Dare said the aim of NYFA movement was to galvanise Nigerian youth and make them to see that the future belonged to them.

“What we are doing in NYFA is to bring the youth together, orientate them on their political strengthens, the need for them to come together and take the future in their hands in 2027,’’ Dare said.

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of NYFA executives and state coordinators.

2027: Jonathan told to contest against Tinubu

Dr Jibril Mustapha, President of the Nigeria Rescue Mission Organisation and former President of Buhari Youth Organisation (BYO), on Sunday urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest 2027 presidential election.

Mustapha, who made this call in a statement on Sunday in Lagos, said Jonathan should heed the call to run for the office of the president again.

“As the nation prepares for the 2027 elections, the Nigeria Rescue Mission Organisation believes that now is the time for all stakeholders to come together and support a candidate who can genuinely represent the interests of all Nigerians.

“We urge former President Goodluck Jonathan to consider this call and to step forward as a candidate who can unite our country and lead us towards a brighter future.

“This appeal comes in light of the numerous challenges currently facing Nigeria, including economic hardship, insecurity, unemployment, and rampant banditry,” Mustapha said.

According to him, there is the urgent need for a leader who embodies integrity, inclusivity, and a commitment to national unity.

Mustapha added: “Nigeria is at a crossroads. We are grappling with significant issues that threaten our stability and progress.

“We need a leader who can bring all Nigerians together, regardless of their background.”

He said that the former Nigerian leader, during his tenure, demonstrated a commitment to democratic values and governance that prioritised the welfare of all citizens.

According to him, the group believes Jonathan has the vision and experience necessary lead Nigeria

“His leadership style is one that fosters inclusivity and economic advancement, which is exactly what our nation needs at this critical juncture.

“Under Jonathan’s leadership, we can work towards restoring Nigeria’s lost glory on the international stage and within our own borders”.

BYO is a youth-based supporters of former President Muhammadu Buhari. Jonathan lost his second term ambition to Buhari in 2015 presidential election.

Recall amidst the debate on whether Jonathan was eligible to run again or not, having taken  oath of office twice as President, the Federal High Court in Bayelsa had in 2022 ruled that Jonathan could still contest the presidential election.

The presiding judge, Justice Isa  Dashen, who gave the judgement, held that Jonathan’s right could not be stopped by any retroactive law.

According to him, the 2007 general election produced the late Umaru Yar’Adua as president and not Jonathan, stressing that Section 137 could not have a retroactive effect to stop him from contesting for presidency.

Dashen ruled that there was no presidential election conducted in the country in 2010 and Jonathan could not be deemed to have been sworn into the office of the president that year.

2027 poll: Abuja too important to be left in opposition – Ganduje

Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said  the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is too important to be left in the hands of opposition political parties.

Ganduje said this on Thursday in Abuja while receiving some members of the opposition political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) who defected to its fold.

The decampees were led by the Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Chris Maikalangu, at the Abuja old parade ground.

Ganduje said that the development was a confirmation that the FCT electorate was pleased with the APC and would vote en masse for it to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

He noted that Abuja should not be left in the hands of the opposition parties as the seat of power and the city that served as the rallying point of Nigerians.

Ganduje, while speaking on how Tinubu appointed Abuja indigenes as members of his cabinet and other appointments, said the gale of defection of opposition members to the APC was a testament of its achievements over the years.

He said it also spoke of the level of the party’s acceptability in the FCT and other parts of the country.

The Minister of Special Duties, Zephaniah Jisalo, who addressed the crowd at the event tagged “Abuja Unity rally” ,lauded Tinubu for living up to his campaign promises to carry along Abuja indigenes in his administration.

Jisalo, who is an indigene of the FCT, testified to Tinubu’s commitment to the empowerment of Abuja people.

The Minister of State FCT, Hajia Mariya Bunkure, urged the FCT electorate to sustain their support for the APC-led administration, saying it was leaving no stone unturned in uplifting their well being.

Dignitaries that graced the event include the Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello, FCT Area Council Chairmen, councillors and stalwarts from across the country.

  • 2027: CPC bloc reiterates support for APC, Tinubu

2027: CPC bloc reiterates support for APC, Tinubu

Leaders of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) have reiterated their loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.

In a press statement on Wednesday in Abuja, the leaders dismissed recent claims and media reports suggesting that they were defecting to opposition political parties.

The statement, signed by Sen. Umaru Al-Makura, Aminu Masari, Sen. Mustafa Salihu, Farouk Adamu, Almajiri Geidam, Waziri Bulama and Dr Nasiru Ladan.

It described such claims and media reports as baseless and mischievous.

Recall CPC was one of the major political parties that merged to  form the APC in February 2013 ahead of the 2015 presidential election.

The statement reiterated the commitment of the leaders to playing a responsible role in the APC’s growth and Nigeria’s progress, saying they stood firmly with the APC.

“We categorically state that we have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave. The CPC bloc remains one of the APC’s foundational pillars.

“We are resolute in our commitment to the party and its progressive ideals. We endorse President Tinubu’s economic and governance reforms,” the statement said.

It called for patience and collective support for the administration as the benefits of its reforms unfolds.

“We fully endorse the economic and governance reforms led by Tinubu, while these policies may present challenges, they are crucial steps toward rebuilding our economy and securing a prosperous future for all Nigerians,” the statement said.

It called for enhanced engagement and communication within the APC to foster inclusiveness, reduced tensions, and promote unity, urging its leadership to increase engagement with members at all levels.

“Strengthening internal communication will foster inclusiveness, reduce tensions, and enhance support for the party’s programmes,” the statement said.

It advised members of the party with grievances to seek redress through constitutional channels within it rather than resorting to public agitation or hasty exits.

“We acknowledge that some members may feel sidelined, but such concerns are not unique to any one bloc.

“We encourage those affected to seek redress through established constitutional channels within the party,” the statement said.

2027: Atiku Abubakar gives condition to run for president

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said he does not know if he will run for president again but hinted that if there is a viable platform, he might have a change of mind.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Atiku said this in an exclusive interview with Arise TV’s correspondent, Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie, aired on Wednesday.

“I don’t know,” Atiku said when asked if he was going to run for president in 2027, adding: “there has to be first of all a viable platform”.

He went further to say: “More than any other time in the political history of this country, particularly since the return of democracy, I have not seen Nigeria in dire need of an experience and credible leadership than this time”.

TNG reports the former presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who has run for the presidency a record six times, also spoke on the recent formation of a coalition of opposition leaders to wrest power from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

“We had a similar, you know, what would I say, merger in 2014. About four of us or is it three? We all ran for president and one of us emerged, and we all supported the one who emerged, and he won,” Atiku said.

Why I rejected Okonjo-Iweala, Soludo as running mate in 2019, picked Okowa over Wike in 2023 – Atiku

Speaking further, the former Vice President disclosed he did not pick Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala or Prof. Charles Soludo as running mate in 2019 because they were not members of the PDP.

For 2023, Atiku said the decision to pick Dr Ifeanyi Okowa over Mr Nyesom Wike and Mr Udom Emmanuel was decided by a committee set up by the party.

“In 2019 when I won the ticket in Port Harcourt, and I came back here, then went straight to Abeokuta to meet my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

“I told him, Mr President, I have bought the ticket. He asked me, from where is your running mate going to come from. I said of course it is either South-East or South West.

“He said no, leave South West, because I was there for 8 years. Go to South East. Okay sir, do you have anybody in mind? He said yes.

“The first person he suggested was Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. So, I told him Ngozi was not a member of our party. I believed if I forwarded the name to the party, they will reject.

“He said okay. He said what about Soludo? I said Soludo too is not a member of our party. They will not accept. He now said what about Peter Obi? I said Peter Obi is a member of the party. He said okay take him. I said okay sir. And that was it.

“I came back here, I summoned a meeting of the party leaders, then was headed by Uche Secondus and others, including Wike himself, Tambuwal, I remember about 7 of them.

“I said I have been to my boss and then this is what he said. Do you have any objection? You are leaders of the party and leaders of the Governors Forum. They said no, we don’t have objection. I said okay, go and announce.

“Now, I came under a lot of criticism after that. They said I did not consult with the party enough,” Atiku said.

Speaking further, he said: “So, in 2023, I threw the whole thing to the party. I said okay, set up a committee and recommend three people for me to pick as running mate.

“And they set up a committee and they came with a recommendation number 1, number 2 and number 3. So, I picked number 1. Number 1 was Okowa, number 2 was Wike and number 3 was Udom Emmanuel”.

2027: North has no moral right to contest for presidency – Group

A group known as the Northern Minority Alliance for Balanced Leadership (NOMIBAL) has said the north has no moral right to contest for presidency in 2027.

Mr Alhamdu Pane, the Acting Secretary and Spokesperson of the group,  said this at a news conference on Thursday in Abuja.

“The north has no moral right to seek power so soon after holding presidency, especially when there is an unwritten pact that power should rotate between the North and South.

“This principle has ensured national stability, and as President Bola Tinubu is only in his first term, fairness dictates that he should be allowed to complete a second term,” he said.

Pane said that democratic fairness must be upheld and  distanced  NOMIBAL from any plan to unseat  Tinubu in 2027.

He said that Tinubu’s  administration has taken steps to include northern minorities in governance.

“We firmly believe that Nigeria is on the right path under the leadership of Tinubu and as we look ahead to 2027, we must consolidate on these gains.

“We pledge to mobilised, organise and work tirelessly to ensure his second term. We believe that his administration is the best chance we have to cement the inclusion of the Northern minorities in Nigeria’ governance,” he said.

Pane commended the Federal Government, under the leadership of Tinubu for the steps taken to develop the northern minority communities.

He said the approval of the dualisation of Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi- Gombe road, and the establishment of the North Central Development Commission were major areas  that have  impacted on  minority communities in the north.

Pane said that the northern minorities have also benefited with  the establishment of the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kaduna State.

He said the group was not out to  praise sing  but to ensure that leaders were held accountable  to the people.
