    Angry professor apologises to 2face

Prof. Akindele Adetoye who had earlier called 2face an illiterate has finally apologized to the pop star after a myriad of backlash on social media.

He took to his Facebook page expressing regret over his statements.

He puts it this way “Good day brethren, I put up an update yesterday that incurred the wrath of some of my friends and the population at large for what some considered its harshness to another member of the Nigerian community.

“In hindsight, I believe I was indeed harsh. I believe I am wrong to have come at him in the manner in which I did. He’s in love with our nation like I am and like the rest of us.

“It was in finding a lasting remedy to our national malaise that I believe my passion took the best of me, and it was in that regard that I erred.

“I apologize for that and I apologize to those whom my update affected in any manner. I was wrong and I am sorry.

“Thank you and God bless you all.”

  • Adesina slams 2face, says “Those calling for protests are aggravated losers”

Femi Adesina, Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity in a recent interview reacted to the February 6th proposed protest spearheaded by pop star, 2face Idibia.

According to him, those calling for the protest are still in election mode. Adesina made this statement in an interview with Lagos Talk 91.3fm .

He puts it this way:” This is a country of about 180 million people. It is impossible for 180 million people to think the same way. Yoruba has a saying that is you all sleep and put your head in the same direction, then you are all foolish because you would be breathing in one another’s mouth and lungs. Don’t forget the last election and how it went. Somebody scored 12.5 million votes, another scored about 15 million votes. There are some people who are still in that election mode. They have not gotten out of it and till today, they are still living and “romaticizing” about the past.

“What they don’t know is that that past is gone and gone forever. Majority of those calling for the protest are still in election mode. Majority of them are people that have resolved not to see anything good in this administration simply because the man they wanted lost at the polls” he added

  • [Video]:”We are still poor and desperate “-2face laments over the state of the nation

It is no longer news that 2face Idibia and other well-meaning Nigerians will stage a protest on February 6th demanding that all saboteurs of good government policies should hands off. Though some Nigerians entertainers like Funke Adesiyan and Bovi have stated that they won’t be part of the protest, the Africa Queen singer insists that the protest will happen against all odds

Earlier today 31st of January, the award -winning singer took to Facebook live streaming platform, to address Nigerians on the motive of the purported protest.

    Read his statements below

Since the idea of a nationwide march was first mentioned, the need for urgent solutions to the challenges facing Nigerians has become very clear. The people have hoped for a better Nigeria since 1999 but things are not getting any better for the majority. We are still where we are – poor and desperate. I will be no longer be quiet.

I want to thank EiE, The 2face Foundation, numerous colleagues and countless fellow Nigerians for stepping up to partner with me. I am just a musician with a point of view and the ear of my fans.

I have dedicated my time and resources to peace building, voter education towards peaceful elections and youth engagement in governance in Nigeria. This time around, my partners, colleagues and I have come together to present a platform for real Nigerians to communicate their real pains to government at all levels in a peaceful and articulate manner with a view to getting lasting solutions to our problems.

This march is about demanding that all saboteurs of good government policies should hands off.

This march is about encouraging positive minded Nigerians to continue to work without intimidation.

We have a system that is clearly designed not to work for the majority.

What is this march not about?

It is not a platform for politicians of any party to manipulate. I know you will still spin it but for one second leave your battles aside and just listen to people without trying to score cheap political points against one another. It is not a point scoring exercise. It is certainly not personal.

It is not an organized labour platform. With all due respect to our comrades who have done much for Nigeria, this march is for the unrepresented.

It is not a ‘my religion or tribe is better than yours’ matter. All our blood is red.

I, Innocent Idibia, am a living example of a Nigerian who owes their success to Nigerians of every tribe and religion. None ask what religion or tribe I am before supporting me. I am grateful.

Therefore, it is with every sense of humility that I say that with this march, I want:

    1) Security

All Nigerians’ lives MUST matter. My religion, ethnicity or what part of the country I live shouldn’t determine the type of protection I get from my government.

According to the Constitution, ‘the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.’

    2) Education

To develop beyond oil, we have to invest in our human capital. Every child must have access to quality education. If our teachers are not paid, how will we raise the next generation to lead the country and run our businesses?

    3) Health

Health is wealth. People die daily from lack of basic, affordable health care. We can definitely do better.

    4) Power

Government needs to make it easier to generate power at the state and local government level so everything is not tied to the center. We need electricity to be productive. The cost of generating our own power is crippling.

    5) Unemployment

Poor education plus a struggling economy means a lot of people are unemployed. Unemployed people are hungry and angry.

    6) High cost of living

Food, transportation, medicine, everything is 3 times, 4 times more expensive but our salaries haven’t increased. What do we do???

    7) Social Justice

According to the Constitution, ‘The Federal Republic of Nigeria shall be a State based on the principles of democracy and social justice.’

There cannot be one set of rules for the poor and another set for the rich.

    8) Transparency

The best way to kill corruption is to increase transparency. Government finances and contracts must be open and available to all. Who got the money, to do what and by when?

    9) Cost of government

Our governance is TOO expensive – federal, state, local – cars, housing, allowances. We must reduce the cost of maintaining our public officials

    10) Patriotism

I stand with Nigeria. There is enough in Nigeria for all of us to ‘chop belleful’. Enough is enough. We must put Nigeria first and keep all the greedy & selfish people away from leadership.

  • “You had sex without condoms”- Professor slams 2face

Mixed reactions have trailed 2face ‘s purported February protest against the Federal Government. Funke Adesiyan, a Nollywood actress condemned the purported protest, Bovi also revealed that he won’t be part of the protest.

Though the likes of Davido and Burna Boy have pledged their support, some people believe the African Queen singer lacks the credibility to spearhead such a protest. One of such persons is Professor Akindele Adetoye, who took to his Facebook page to lambast the pop star.

According to him: “You are a bloody illiterate. You had sex with all manners of girls without using condoms. You impregnated them and made babies all over the place. You now want to lead protest against the government because of lack of governance! Have you governed your own personal life? Charity, they say begins at home. Nonsense!”

What do you think? Is 2face credible enough to lead such a protest?

  • 2face Idibia to protest against FG

    Says:”You have failed us”

Nigerian revered pop star, 2face Idibia is angry at the moment. The African Queen singer is dissatisfied with the state of the nation.

He took to his Instagram page to express his anger and also announce that he is set to protest alongside well meaning Nigerians on the 5th of February.

According to him:” A call for good governance.
A call for urgent explanation into the reckless economic downturn nationwide.
A call for nationwide protests as we say No to the Executive, No to legislatures, No to judiciary… You have all failed us.

We the people are tired. We can no longer continue with all of you. All your excuses and mistakes are not funny. We do not wish to continue with a system and government that is not working but afflicting the people. We the people of this country not living under the privileges of government allowances and remuneration have now accepted to take the bull by the horn to come out and protest this obnoxious and baseless policies and excusesof the government of the day.

Where are the recovered looted funds?
Why do we still have the executive arms and legislatures still enjoying their salaries and allowances while we hear there’s no money to pay workers?
Why do we still see ceaseless power failures with no explanation and hope of getting out of it unlike before?

Why do we keep seeing peace talks in Niger Delta, fulani heardsmen and ipob without any solutions being reached, while the strategies keeps aggravating the people involved as political leaders stage forums to extort funds in the name of addressing their subjects?
Why did we have petrol price rise to 145 for the sake of global oil price crash and removal of subsidy but such price is still being maintained despite significant re-awakening of the oil price from $30/barrel to $56/barrel?

Who is to be held accountable for the sudden and continuous hike in price of commodities in the market, where for the first time in history, Nigeria is suddenly selling kerosene at 400 naira per litre as against 50 naira per litre, diesel at 300 naira per litre as against 100 naira per litre and petrol from 87 naira to 145 naira? Yet maintaining the same systems, environment and maybe a lesser money spending government.

There’s need for Nigerians to rise against what is happening in this country having waited patiently for the legislatures that were elected to represent the people all to no avail.”
