Judge adjourns judgement over 2face’s lawsuit against Blackface

The battle between Blackface and 2face, who were former bandmates of the now defunct Plantashun Boiz, took a new dimension today as it was officially brought before the court earlier today

The Lagos State High Court adjourned the N50M defamation of character suit brought against Blackface by 2face Idibia.

In the case brought before Justice Oyefeso on Wednesday morning, March 20, 2019, TheNewsGuru gathered that the ruling has been adjourned on the case and a new date which has not yet been fixed will be conveyed to both parties within one week.

However, according to a statement released by Blackface’s lawyer, Mani Enajeroh of M.O Enajeroh, he said:”The Copyright system in Nigeria will eventually kill every iota of creativity in Nigerian music, unless someone takes up this issue of royalties.

Even though we don’t have functioning collective societies that doesn’t mean we can’t be fair to one another. Because of speaking out about this Blackface was sued for N50m.

That’s why it’s important that this case must be struck out. The case is a threat to freedom of expression, and intellectual property in general. We are confident that the Court will strike out the case.

This is a copyright issue, no matter how you look at it and it ought to be at the Federal High Court. Look at their court documents, they did not admit anywhere that Blackface wrote “Let somebody love you”. The stories are never consistent.”

TheNewsGuru recalls that following several allegations of copyright theft by Blackface over the songs, ‘African Queen’ and ‘Let Somebody Love You’, 2face and his manager Efe Omorogbe filed a suit against Blackface at the High Court, Ikeja Judicial Division, Lagos in April 2018.

Earlier this week, Blackface unveiled a single ‘War’ which is a diss track attacking his former friend and band mate, 2face Idibia.

In the song, the dancehall singer, re-ignited his age long allegations of copyright theft by 2face and his manager, Efe Omorogbe as well as damning claims suggesting that 2face is gay.

The controversial song has created a stir on social media with many expressing their diverse views on the message.

TheNewsGuru reports that a ruling will be served today at the State High Court, Ikeja on the preliminary objection issued by Blackface’s legal team following the N50M defamation lawsuit served by 2face and manager Efe, Blackface.

In a chat with Pulse, the singer said:”They should also ask what is 2face after too? What is his game plan? What is his plan with Efe Omorogbe his manager, or do you think they don’t have any plan?

“I have given them my conditions. See ‘Let Somebody Love You’ is my song, I told them my conditions that the manager must take his name out.”

“I wrote the song before he became 2face’s manager, so how will a song I have written before he became the manager and you people want to render the song and he did not tell me about me.

“How does that seem to the world? They are just paying people to write rubbish about me, that is what they have been doing all their career.

“There is always a silent killer now, so he is the silent killer in this matter, he is silent and he is the one doing the damage in the matter.

“You guys need to give them the real state of the matter because the thing is going crazy and we are fighting this because of the entertainment industry.”

Blackface also stated that he is tired of people viewing him as the bad guy, but at this point, the fight is bigger than him and he is ready to see it to the very end.

”What I am fighting for now is not just for myself, what I am fighting for is for the future of the Nigerian music industry where people like Efe Omorogbe will not just come from nowhere and put themselves in an artist catalog that they wrote the song.

“Who does that? It has to stop. And the only reason they can do that type of thing is that they feel they have the media to back them up.

So tell the world what those people have done, not for people to be asking what does Blackface really want? What have they done that they are hiding? That is the questions that should be asked.”

Calling 2face gay is a normal thing- Blackface

Nigerian singer, Blackface is currently not ready to relent over his age-long rift with his ex-bandmate, 2face Idibia.

In a recent controversial song titled ‘War,’Blackface called out 2face out over claims of hypocrisy, song theft and went on to call him ‘gay’.

This has sparked different reactions on social media, with many condemning him for describing 2baba in such an unsavoury way.

However in a chat with LIB, the ‘Hard life’ singer said: ”Yes I called him gay, it’s a normal thing in music when you are yabbing someone, people have been doing it for ages. I can abuse his mother and say anything its normal”.

On why he released a controversial despite the fact that they have a pending case in court, Blackface said:”Having a case in court doesn’t stop me from doing music. He has the same case in court and he’s been taking secret shots at me with his ‘Oyi’ and other songs, so it’s not a problem at all.

I have always said it that if and when I want to yab 2face I’ll call him out directly, I’m not like him that’s been taking secret shots at me for ages. Go and listen to ‘Oyi’ he’s taking shots at me but he’s using the Idoma language to confuse you people that its a love song ‘Oyi’ is used to refer to a male in his language. If you also listen to his song ‘Only Me’, the line ‘i no say no be everybody sabi play ball’ line is also directly a shot at me. If he’s bold enough, he should grant an interview to address the issue but he won’t”.

Earlier this year, Tuface gave graphic details of what transpired between him and his former friend and band mate, Blackface, revealing that the latter started attacking him after he made known his intention to go solo to all the members of the defunct musical group, plantashun boiz.

The lyric of the song released by Blackface is filled with direct shots at his former friend and band member 2baba.

Since the breakup of Nigeria’s most prominent boy group ‘Plantashun Boiz’, Blackface and 2baba have been engaged in one of the longest running feuds that the industry has ever witnessed.

  • 2face advised me not to waste my money on cars- Timaya

Nigerian dancehall singer, Enitimi Alfred Odom, better known as Timaya has showered praises on his senior colleague, 2face Idibia.

The 39-year-old singer noted that the African Queen crooner advised him on how to spend his money.

He made this statement while addressing the audience at Trace Live, which Idibia headlined on Thursday, February 21.

Timaya said 2Baba has always being a source of inspiration in the industry.

“Tuface has always been and is still my role model..When I succeeded as Timaya, I used to hang out with him. Anytime I buy new cars, I would want to get a ride with him to show off in front of him.

  • 2face breaks silence over allegations of domestic violence

Nigerian popstar, Innocent Idibia a.k.a 2face has been in the news lately over his recent Twitter meltdown.

Recall that the singer took to his Twitter page to apologize to his wife over an undisclosed offence.

As fans continue to wrap their heads around his Twitter outburst, a fan asked the ‘True love’ crooner If his recent Twitter apology was because he assaulted his wife, Annie.

2baba replied saying: ”I no fit try am”.

He also denied claims that his outburst was a public stunt.

  • Why you should be bothered about 2face

No popstar wakes up on a morning and takes to Twitter to apologize to his wife. If that said popstar happens to bear the name ‘Innocent 2face Idibia’ then there are more reasons to be bothered.

2baba, took to Twitter on Monday morning and tweeted “ I’m sorry to say that I have f*cked up so much. I have f*cked up as a role model as a father and as a husband. Annie im sorry. I know u tried your best.”, a tweet he later deleted.

On the same day, Annie shared an unusual post on her Instagram story saying that the most important lesson is learnt the hard way with an Emoji of’ hands on the face’ .

The posts shared by the one of the most celebrated showbiz couple in Africa isn’t a coincidence. There have been several speculations online that our ‘African Queen’ crooner may have been enmeshed in another ‘woman trouble’.

2face who has long entered the history books as one of the biggest artistes that ever came out of Africa may not have been able to snuff out the fire of his passion for women. It is no longer news that he has 2 children for Annie and five from the other women.

2baba is not one to hide his flaws, he is ever quick to chant one of the favourite statements in his 2004 song:”No body holy pass”.

For someone who is a don in the business of women(with past partners including ex-miss Nigeria Vien Tetsola, Caroline Ekanem and a certain Cathy Taylor ), his fans cannot fathom him being ensnared in yet another ‘woman palava’.

Though he has debunked asking for his wife’s forgiveness, many of his admirers are still thrown in a state of confusion after he sought apology for an undisclosed offence.
