The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday rewarded ace musician Innocent Idibia popularly called 2baba with an award for helping to mobilise youths to register for the 2019 general elections.

At an election summit where the award was given to 2baba in Abuja on Tuesday, INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu said the 2019 general elections will be for young people who constitute 81 per cent of registered voters.

Also among those given awards was Ambassador Ketil Karlson, Head of European Union to Nigeria and ECOWAS.

The Nigerian political system has more criminals- 2face

Nigerian pop star, Innocent Idibia aka 2face has over the years gained the reputation for speaking his mind when it comes to issues of national development.

The singer who has been at the fore front of mobilizing young Nigerians for the 2019 elections has declared derisively that Nigeria has a political system with more criminals.

In his words: ”Nigeria is where it is today because from government to the people, they have failed to coordinate themselves.”

“We have also not been able to psyche ourselves up, stand up and use the actual potential we have to the benefit of the country. We have not been able to do that, and I always talk about it. It boils down to the fact that we have a political system that has more criminals than those that have the interest of the country at heart. And that’s the reason we are where we are today”, he told Vanguard

When asked to give a scorecard about how he fared in 2018, he said:”I will describe my 2018 as life. Every year has its ups and downs, every year has its high and low points. I definitely had my low and high points. But in all, majority of what we set out to achieve, we achieved them last year. All the mistakes we made last year, we have learnt from them as well. In fact, last year was cool,” he continued. “But for Nigeria, I don’t know whether last year was good or bad. Honestly, I don’t understand what’s happening in Nigeria . I see the news from different directions. But one thing I made out from last year was that for the past three years, we haven’t really known what’s going on in the country. That’s my standpoint. I don’t know whether the government is working or not. I don’t just know and I’m also sure that many Nigerians share that sentiment. One thing we share in common is the increasing rate of hardship in the land. For me, we faced a lot of hardships last year.”

The mother of two noted that she fancies the idea of a woman with strength but not so much the idea of feminism which she does not subscribe to.

Annie made this known when she hosted Rapid Fire Question, a show by 234 Star News.

When asked her take on feminism, she said: “No, not really. But I believe in women power. I believe that men are still kings and women are queens. I don’t believe a woman is a king,” Annie Idibia shares while responding to a question.

Idibia’s take on feminism is a strange contrast to how Chimamanda defines feminism.

Adichie admits in a 2018 interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour how she became a feminist.

I don’t feel a connection to me. It’s not my story. I became a feminist because I grew up in Nigeria and I observed the world.

Why were women judged more harshly? Why were the cultural practices that had prestige only for men? It didn’t make any sense to me.”

“Everyone knows he is taking care of his kids. He’s a doting father and very much involved in raising all of them. And he remains friends with their mothers. But there’s no way he’s going tolet all that drama drag him down again. Not now, not tomorrow, not ever’

Don’t get it wrong’ he says, he’s still friend with them all, and they talk from time to time. In fact, he still saw Pero last time he went to the US. And they’ve attended several events together. he spends time with Annie and gets on well with Sunmbo. But as concerns romance, he’s moved on. Meaning even though he’s very much in a positive relationship with all of them, and they talk from time to time, it’s not like the romance is still on, or he’s planning to settle down with any of them
