  • 9ice dreams of Grammies after 9 years of waiting

Abolore Akande a.k.a 9ice bragged nine years ago that he will bring home the Grammy. In his hit song titled Street Credibility featuring 2face, the Gongo Aso singer crooned:

“Categorically I’m the best mentally, no gainsaying I’m the cutest physically. Don’t doubt me. I go bring home Grammy. Incredible, remarkable, unbeatable, palatable, reliable”

The song was released in 2008; surprisingly 9ice is yet to live up to his promise. After his Gongo Aso album, 9ice has found it difficult to remain on the stop spot in the Nigerian music industry. In an industry where the likes of Davido , Wizkid, Tekno, Mr Eazi are holding sway,9ice is unfortunately missing in action.

The singer is however still passionate about winning the Grammy. He puts it this way: “Rírò ntènìyàn, ṣíṣe ni t’lorun,” in Yoruba proverb this means Man proposes, God disposes.

“That is what I wish for myself, ‘Grammy, I believe I can still get it” he said

The likes of King Sunny Ade, Femi Kuti and Wizkid have been nominated for the Grammies in time past.
