Constitute c’ttees to reconcile aggrieved APC members, Speaker Abbas urges Ganduje

    …seeks support for party’s structures

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has urged the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to constitute reconciliation committees that would unite the members of the party nationwide.

Speaker Abbas noted that some members of the APC were aggrieved, which was why there was the need to reconcile and make peace with them.

Speaking at the APC stakeholders’ meeting for the Northwest in Kaduna on Sunday, the Speaker said such action would bring more successes to the APC as one big political family.

He said, “I want to call on the National Chairman and our party Executive to ensure peaceful coexistence among all party members. As previous speakers have said, we are bedeviled with many issues in different states, in every local government.

“It is time to draw a line. Elections are over; this is time for governance. We should forget what has happened; let’s forgive one another; let’s embrace one another.

“I want to suggest to the National Chairman, and by extension the National Vice Chairman, to, as a matter of urgency, constitute reconciliation committees for the zone and for every state to constitute the same reconciliation committees so that we can make peace and bring those that we may have offended back to the party.”

Speaker Abbas also urged Ganduje to use his position in addressing the high turnover rate of members of the National Assembly, saying APC members that perform well should be given the opportunity to return in 2027.

“On the issue of the high turnover of members of the National Assembly, this is a golden opportunity under your tenure to ensure that you do everything humanly possible for current (APC) members of the National Assembly and States Houses of Assembly to return in 2027.

“Some people may say there are others waiting. But I need to emphatically mention that the National Assembly is an institution where the older you are in the system, the better you become.

“Today, the Northwest, based on the 2023 elections, is worse off. That is the reason, perhaps, we did not get the kind of prominence we should have gotten. So, let’s ensure that only the worst of us do not get reelected. We should give the competent ones the opportunity to return to the National Assembly.”

Speaker Abbas commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving some key positions to the Northwest, saying the zone should appreciate him by redoubling its efforts in 2027.

“We thank Mr. President for finding the Northwest worthy of many important positions. This is the first time that we have the Speaker, the Deputy President of the Senate and the National Chairman of our party emerging from the zone.

“To whom much is given, much is expected. It is our turn to appreciate Mr. President, to appreciate our party by ensuring that we do everything humanly possible to bring dividends of democracy to our people; to ensure that the insecurity that has bedeviled our zone is brought to its logical conclusion; to also ensure that in 2027, we redouble our efforts for the APC to do better in every ward, every local government, every state and the country as a whole.”

He called on party leaders at different levels to support the party structures, saying “What I observed is that attention is given to the party when elections are near. After elections, nothing moves, nothing happens.

“I want to implore us, the leaders, to support our party not only during elections but at all times. That’s the only way we can guarantee success for our party.

“On our part at the National Assembly, we’ll sit with the leadership of the party in the Northwest to come up with some measures of support. I’ve already briefed the National Chairman during our last meeting that we would reach out to every member to ensure that every month, something is sent to the party to support it. We expect that all members of state caucuses will replicate the same.”

On the ongoing constitution amendment by the National Assembly, Speaker Abbas said, “This is an opportunity for us in the Northwest to sit down and bring up the areas that we can do better as a country.

“We want to see if we can replicate what we did in the 8th Assembly by empowering all our senators and Honourable members to go back to their constituencies on an appointed date to interact with the people, giving them the areas of priority so that by the time we come back, every member will vote based on the mandate given by his people.”

He said some of the critical areas that the National Assembly identified in the constitution review were state police, local government autonomy, women inclusion in politics and governance, and the role of the traditional institutions.

He assured the women that Tinubu was very sensitive to issues of women which explained female inclusivity in his government.

Ganduje assured that more appointments would be made by the government to open more employment opportunities for women.

“We have had your grievances and we will see how we can make more direct contacts to see how we can carry more women along.

“We will continue to use you as the party’s pillars in the states, especially as we begin electronic registration of our members across the federation,”Ganduje said.

He said the party would ensure training of its women in political mobilisation to make them stronger politically in its proposed Democratic Institute.

“We have heard your complaint and will work to change the narrative,” the APC national chairman said.

  • Why Tinubu will remain President beyond 2027 – Ganduje

Why Tinubu will remain President beyond 2027 – Ganduje

Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says President Bola Tinubu will remain in office beyond 2027.

Ganduje said this on Monday in Abuja at the party’s national secretariat when he addressed a crowd of supporters who paid a solidarity visit to him.

He said the opposition parties were afraid of defeat, having been defeated in the 2023 general election.

“The NNPP is already foreseeing another defeat  in 2027 hence its recent propaganda against the leadership of the APC.

“They are so afraid because we are consolidating, they are so afraid all over the country because we are receiving new entrants into our party.

“That is creating fears in their minds, they are already eyeing 2027, but that time, there is no vacancy in the presidency, only our President Bola Tinubu will, Insh-Allah, continue as President of Nigeria,” Ganduje said.

He urged APC supporters to ignore the antics of the opposition parties and to remain focused.

“We urge you to be committed to our party so that we will continue to forge ahead, we have seen your commitment and heard your speeches, and we understand your mission.

“Our eyes are on those who are diverting our attention through political propaganda against the APC, but we will not allow them to continue that way.

“We understand what they are doing, it is a political drama, it is African magic drama to convey a failed programm and projects by failed politicians, we will not allow them continue.

“They are also sponsoring pockets of diffident protest from all over the country and spending huge amount of money for people to demonstrate against the leadership of our party,” Ganduje said.

He added that from what the APC had seen across the country,  the action was a complete failure, saying the opposition party in Kano State was sharply divided because it was a mixture of failed politicians.

“If you follow what is happening in that party, you will find out that it is sharply divided between authentic and fake members, lacking leadership qualities,” he said.

Speaking, Prof. Salihu Alizaga, the Convener of the solidarity visit said it was to show support for the APC national chairman.

“We are here to tell the world that APC is one united family, devoid of rancor as being erroneously portrayed and speculated by few individuals under the obvious sponsorship of opposition political parties.

“We advise those who wish to be APC National Chairman after Ganduje to wait till the next elective convention where everyone will be allowed to test their popularity at the convention.

“The National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great party has elected Ganduje as national chairman, and he has a tenure of office to complete, there is no ambiguity at all.

“As faithful party men and women, we unequivocally pass a vote of absolute confidence on President Tinubu and Ganduje for jobs well done, our support for them is 100 per cent,” Alizaga said.

Ganduje finally breaks silence on his suspension from APC

Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says his purported suspension from the party, by individuals masquerading as executives of his ward, is just like an African drama.

Ganduje said this when he received members of Forum of the States APC Chairman in Abuja on Tuesday.

“This is African drama, and it is not leading political parties to anywhere, there is no doubt that what happened was a distraction but we assure you that our party cannot be distracted or diverted.

“We are focused, we know where we are heading to, we know our objectives and we know how to achieve them.

“That is why we have the President, more state governors, and more senators in our party, and more are coming into our fold,” he said.

He charged the state chairmen to remain focus, saying the party under his leadership had introduced a innovations to make it a strong institution.

Earlier, Mr Alphonsus Okadigbo, the Secretary of the Forum of APC State Chairmen,   said the visit was to identify with Ganduje and to affirm their support for him.

“We are here to show loyalty and solidarity to your leadership and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) and to tell members of the public that we are solidly behind you.

“We are sure that you are on course on the steps you have taken to reposition our party and to take it to greater heights,” he said.

He added that the chairmen would be delighted if they were given a formal meeting day where they could discuss their perspective on how to grow and make the party better.

Also speaking, Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, the Lagos State APC Chairman and the forum’s Acting chairman, described the purported suspension of Ganduje as unfortunate.

He said the party’s state chairmen were saddened by the development, adding that such should not be encouraged in the party, because there were Constitutional provisions before such decisions could be taken.

“Although the coup has failed, we want to assure you that we are  behind you, we pray that the good Lord will give you the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to continue to lead us,” he said.

  • We have not received order to suspend Ganduje – APC

We have not received order to suspend Ganduje – APC

Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, the National Leader Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) says the party has yet to be served with the order of the Kano State High Court suspending Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, the Chairman of the party from office.

Kana said this when he spoke with newsmen at the party’s National Secretariat on Wednesday in Abuja.
He said that the judgement was faulty in many ways.

“We heard this afternoon, but we have not seen any court order, they used the same fraudulent document in court.

“But whatever kind of order that will emanate from such judgement is an unlawful order because it is obtained by fraud.

“The individuals who are behind this are not APC members and not members of the Kano State executive of our party, we don’t know them,” Kana said.

He added the real executives of Dawakin Tofa ward of the party had since disassociated themselves from the purported suspension of Ganduje from the party.

He said the executives were working on plans to petition the National Judicial Council (NJC) over the order, adding that the party’s leadership had also petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take action on the matter.

Earlier, some executives of the party from Dawakin Tofa visited Ganduje to expressed their dissatisfaction over the matter.

APC kicks agains court order that affirmed Ganduje’s suspension

The National Working Committee, (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) has described the court order that affirmed the suspension of the party’s national chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, as unlawful.

TheNewsGuru.com earlier reported that Kano State High Court affirmed the suspension of Ganduje following an ex parte order restraining him from further parading himself as a member of APC.

The order was granted by Justice Usman Na’abba following an ex parte motion filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani.

However, addressing a press conference at the APC Abuja National Secretariat on Wednesday, the National Legal Adviser of the party, Professor Abdulkarim Kana insisted that the court order was a nullity.

The press conference followed a courtesy visit to the national chairman by the Ganduje Ward and Local Government exco.

“We’re also hearing this afternoon that they used the same document to go to court to obtain an order of the court. We haven’t seen the order, but we have heard about it.

“Whatever order that will emanate from such a document, and all of us know – even a 100 level law student will tell you that an order obtained by fraud is an unlawful order – it will not be enforceable, and it will not be recognised and it will not be respected.”

BREAKING: APC National Chairman, Ganduje suspended

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje has been suspended from the party.

TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports Ganduje was suspended by the executives of Ganduje Ward in Dawakin-Tofa local government area of Kano State.

The former Kano Governor was suspended over alleged corruption, including allegations of bribery levelled against him by the Kano State Government.

The legal adviser of the ward, Halliru Gwanzo, addressed journalists on the suspension on Monday.

Gwanzo explained that the decision to suspend Ganduje from the party was due to the bribery and misappropriation of funds allegations levelled against him by the Kano State Government.

He said that the suspension of the party national chairman was a unanimous decision of the members of the ward.

He said Ganduje could not clear his name amid corruption allegations that followed his 8-year administration.

“The members decided to suspend the national chairman’s membership after a vote of no confidence was passed on him due to his inability to clear his name from various allegations of corruption against him, that range from the circulated dollar videos where he was allegedly collecting bribe from contractors,” he added.

  • Ganduje: Gov Yusuf challenges EFCC to release forensic report on dollar Video

Ganduje: Gov Yusuf challenges EFCC to release forensic report on dollar Video

Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf has responded to the allegation by his predecessor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje that his administration has failed in its eight months period of governing the state.

Governor Yusuf, reacting to the assertion, said that Ganduje’s 8-year tenure was characterised by maladministration, massive records of corruption, diversion of public funds and sale of government properties.

Yusuf, in a statement on Sunday by his spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, regretted that Ganduje “shamelessly spoke about non-existent failure in the present administration, instead of facing the nemesis of corruption and political violence hanging around his neck.”

The Governor emphasised that he would leave no stone unturned in pursuing the alleged scandal surrounding a dollar video, to a logical conclusion.

Governor Yusuf then charged the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFFC) to release the forensic investigation it conducted on the “Gandollar saga” in 2018, for public consumption.

The Kano State governor advised the immediate-past governor of the state, to “rather buckle up in defence of his already battered image at the court, instead of further exposing his impunity on the media space.”

The statement reminded the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on “how his alleged gross penchant for corruption has brought shame and disgrace to the good people of Kano, insisting that no amount of media campaign would hinder the process of bringing him to book on what he called the glaring cases of corruption filed against him.”

Part of the statement reads: “Our eight months in office has remarkably outweighed Ganduje’s eight wasted years of political caricature and maladministration by all standards.

“We wish to reaffirm the present administration’s resolve and readiness to make anyone found guilty of corruption to face the full wrath of the law for thier intentional wrong doings,” the statement added.

Governor Yusuf, however, maintained that “his administration is multifacetedly inclined, prioritising focus and attention on socio-economic and physical infrastructure developments for the overall well-being of Kano and the good people of Kano State.”

He said the assumption by some people that efforts by the government to unravel corruption charges against Ganduje and members of his immediate family was an attempt to cover up, clearly means that such category of people were either under false illusion or being economical with the truth.

“For whatever option, Kano state government would advise the former Governor to show cause why his name, that of his family, and the entire people of Kano should permanently erase from the global embarrassment that the dollar video has generated,” Governor Yusuf said.

On the allegations of poor governance despite increased federal allocation to the state, Governor Yusuf revealed that his administration is still struggling to recover from the state of bankruptcy that Ganduje plunged the state in his last eight years.

Yusuf said apart from inheriting liability and debt running into over N300 billion from the Ganduje’s administration, he alleged further that the immediate past APC government in the state sold almost all the property and assets to Ganduje, members of his family, and his cronies.
