“There is a need for a leaders that would give the citizens a bright future and prepare them for “the great harvest“.

“Nigerians should begin to think of a new leader who has demonstrated selflessness and passion for the people,’’ he advised.

2023: Accord party presidential candidate, Prof. Imumolen replies Afe Babalola

Accord Party (AP) presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Imumolen has openly disagreed with senior lawyer, Afe Babalola (SAN) that only candidates with bags of money to spend will win the 2023 election.

TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports that Afe Babalola noted that the best candidate may not necessarily win the election as the country’s politician moneybags will spend money to win the elections.

However, Imumolen has now  openly opposed the position of elder statesman, Chief Afe Babalola about the role money would play in determining the winner.

The country’s youngest presidential candidate issued a statement at the weekend in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti capital.

“The 2023 presidential elections is not going to be won by one who thinks he can make the difference. Neither will it be the person with the right age, health, education or patriotism.

“Rather, it will be the person who has made money in this country, the person with the deepest pocket that will win the elections,” Babalola said.

Reacting on Channels TV Talkshow, ‘Politics Today’, Imumolen criticised Babalola’s claims, citing several instances to support his opinion.

“With all due respect, I disagree with our most learned elder statesman, Afe Babalola on his claims that the person with the deepest pocket in this year’s presidential race will ultimately win the elections.

“There are several instances, particularly since the advent of the 4th Republic in 1999 where money was never the determining factor in whom became Nigeria’s president.

“Let’s start with the 1999 presidential elections between Chief Olusegun Obasanjo of the PDP and Chief Olu Falae of the then AD.

“Obasanjo, if we’d recall, won that elections despite not having bags of money to throw around. Infact, he had just returned from prison where he had no money or played any active politics before the elections.

“Then, came his successor Umar Yar’Adua. Yar’Adua, we also know had just finished his tenure as Katsina State governor and wasn’t one you could refer to as someone who could, solely on the strength of his wealth, win the country’s presidency.

“Even then, we had more people in the race who could have beaten him hands down were cash the sole determinant of who clinched the presidency. But at the end, he won.

“Never mind that he said the system that ushered him into power was flawed. The truth is that he won.

“Again, let’s look at current president, Muhammadu Buhari. We all know that if it came to who had the most cash to throw around, it would have been Dr Goodluck Jonathan who was then the incumbent president.

“Yet, against all odds, Buhari stormed to victory and he is just about completing his eight-year tenure as Nigeria’s president.

“So, these examples tell us that it is not necessarily the man with the deepest pocket who always ends up as Nigeria’s president.

“In this year’s presidential race, I think the people’s genuine wish to see a change from the old ways of doing things to a new one could prove the determining factor, rather than the now outdated method of trying to buy people’s conscience through prodigal spending”, the AP flagbearer added.

INEC has fixed February 2023 for the presidential election and National election day, while Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections would hold on March 12th, 2023.

Osun Guber poll: Accord Party candidate, Ogunbiyi laments slow process

The governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Osun State, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, has frowned at the Independent National Electoral Commission over the slow process of the ongoing governorship election in the state.

However, the Accord party candidate stated that he would win the election.

“I am not entertaining any fear because I have done my homework and highlighted the programmes I have for the good people of Osun State. I will win this election convincingly, no doubt about it.

“But I discovered that the exercise here is too slow. The INEC officials here told me that only 35 persons have voted as at past 10.30am and we have over 500 eligible voters in this unit.

“They need to step up the process. We don’t want to start hearing that voting will stop by 3:00pm thereby disenfranchising so many voters. They need to put in more efforts and be fast about it.

“The reports I got from across the state showed massive turn out of voters and that the exercise is peaceful, orderly and without violence as of this morning.”

Peller said the party has shown an unwavering commitment to the yearnings of the people of Oke-Ogun.

“In Oyo State, the Accord Party is a force to reckon with, its internal democracy mechanism is intact, a component lacking in other parties. Accord Party is also strategic as it concerns balloting.

“On the ballot paper, Accord comes first before the two major parties. With Accord as our party, voting sensitization becomes easier for us to do.

“Today, I would like to inform the general public that I am now with the Accord party. The logo of the Accord constantly reminds me and other well-meaning Nigerians of their civic responsibility – to vote for credible leaders.

“In Oke-Ogun, Oyo North Senatorial District and Oyo State at large, Accord Party is our strength, its logo is our thumb – it’s our power and we shall make it count”, he added.

  • 2023 election may end electoral fraud and monetary inducement- Accord chairman

Accord Party Chairman, Chief Bartho Igwedibia, has disclosed that the outcome of the 2023 general election might end the era of electoral fraud and monetary inducement in Nigeria’s political struggle, he further stressed that politicians banking on vote-buying and electoral malpractices will get disappointed.

“With the recent amendment in the Electoral Act, it is now clear that results shall be transmitted electronically from the polling units to central collation point, and this will end manipulation of results,” he said.

Igwedibia attributed the recent surge in the number of people seeking to obtain the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to the fact that votes will count in next year’s elections.

“After considering that votes will count in next year’s elections, Accord leadership resolved that candidates to fly our flags must have sterling qualities which Nigerians most desired now.

” The choice of our presidential candidate, Prof. Chris Imumolen, shows that it was a painstaking exercise that we did to get youth with high leadership qualities and he will spring a surprise in next presidential election,” he said.

Igwedibia noted that Accord resolved to field Imumolen, 39 years of age and an educationist because education was the bedrock upon which every development occurred.

“Most of the bigger political parties were ignorant of this fact that a lot of Nigerians are now informed and will desire a new order in her leadership structures.

“Most bigger parties presented old men as presidential candidates, but we scored a heart trick by making sure that we presented a youth full of potential,” he said.

According to him, “Nigeria is presently having a mirage of challenges due to recycling of old men as political leaders most of whom no longer fit into the digital world.

“We need a sound-minded and experienced youthful leader capable of tackling the challenges of insecurity, unemployment, hunger and poor funding of our universities amongst others,” he said.

Igwedibia said that Accord had already drawn action plans to ensure that its candidates, especially the presidential candidate, emerged winner of the 2023 election.
