  • I started acting at age of ten-Jide Kosoko

I started acting at age of ten-Jide Kosoko

Veteran actor, Jide Kosoko needs no introduction. The ace role interpreter is one of the most revered actors in Nollywood.

Kosoko who has been in the movie industry for over five decades noted that he started acting at the age of ten.

Speaking in a chat with Punch, he said: “This is my fifty-seventh year as an actor. I started acting when I was 10 years old. For my first production with Ifelowo Travelling Theatre (Makanjuola), I played a lead role. For one to stay relevant, one has to be versatile and ready to interpret one’s role to the best of one’s abilities. One also has to constantly evolve and learn new things. Acting requires a lot of brain work because one has to study scripts all the time. It is all about dedication, focus and one’s ability to deliver.

However, the most important factor is God’s grace. There are many talented actors out there, so it takes God’s grace for one to be recognised and celebrated”.

Sharing his opinion about actresses who fight on social media, he said: “Social media caught us unawares and we had no choice but to play along with it. I always say that it is the bad side of things that people usually learn first. If you look at what is happening on social media, a lot of people are getting to understand it is a platform that can be used to promote and showcase one’s skills rather than for quarrelling. But, those who are bad would continue to act that way. We also cannot run away from the fact that there are some people who would intentionally instigate scandals on social media so that they can enjoy the publicity it attracts.

So, correcting things like that could be very hard. But hopefully, those who act negatively on social media would change for good”.

I didn’t study law to stay at home- Kanayo O Kanayo

Popular actor, Kanayo O Kanayo was in the news on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 when he was called to the bar.

TheNewsGuru recalls that Kanayo had studied Law at the University of Abuja before proceeding to the Nigerian Law School

In a recent chat, Kanayo opened up on his reason for becoming a lawyer.

“I have always wanted to be a lawyer. When in 1994, the University of Lagos offered me admission to study Philosophy, I wasn’t happy because it was Law I wanted. However, what I have been doing on TV over the years is what a lawyer does in court. To be a voice for the voiceless and speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. In the world of make-believe, we dramatise injustice and show to people those who perpetrate injustice. And in the course of doing that, people learn. However, now I have another platform to fight for the truth, equity and fairness”, he told Punch.

Asked the aspect of law he intends to focus on, he said:”I intend to practise law though I cannot divulge which area of practice I would go into. I didn’t study Law to stay at home. I did it to serve humanity and I can do that in several areas. But, some people (erroneously) think that when one reads Law, one must appear in court every day.”
