Edo 2020: Delete Oshiomhole’s image from Ize-Iyamu, Obaseki will gallantly lose on Sept 19 – Edolites

…say we’ll vote according to our conscience

The larger than life image of former All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole on Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s guber ambition may make him lose Edo 2020 guber polls.

TheNewsGuru.com, TNG, reports that the active participation of Oshiomhole in Ize-Iyamu’s campaign may deny the Redeemed Christian Church of God pastor victory on September 19.

Most Edolites who spoke on the forthcoming elections simply gave the victory to Ize-Iyamu because of his massive grassroots connection across the state.

But quickly added that with Oshiomhole standing with him his chances of emerging governor of the state is very slim.

One of the Edolites, a prominent son of Edo South who spoke under the condition of anonymity said:

“Look my son, if you delete Osho from POI, the election will heavily tilt in his favor because he has always been there for us.

“Every Christmas and Easter festivities, POI for several years must send bags of rice to us despite the fact that we know that he is not holding any Political office.

“This has been his tradition and such a man cannot come to me for his vote then I will look the other way, it’s impossible.

Another prominent leader told TNG that”in Edo South, POI is the ultimate if not for the manner Osho de-marketed him in our last guber election.

“You don’t expect me to raise the hands of the pastor that has been painted in the image of a monster before my people, it will dwindle my personality.

“I think I am bigger than that because it was Osho who decided on his own to rubbish us APC members.

“There’s apathy in Edo over the manner Obaseki was disqualified from the primaries in the first place.

“In a civilised clime, Obaseki would have been allowed to participate in the primaries, if he loses, well and good we will understand.

“But for Oshiomhole under his watch as APC Chairman to allow Obaseki to be disqualified for obvious reasons cannot really be deciphered.

“On election day, we’ll vote according to our conscience and I will add that if not for Osho, POI would have coasted to victory without stress.

The grassroots network of POI has been his major weapon in the forthcoming guber election slated for September 19.

He has maintained this network over the years and this may just be the tonic that may open the gate of Denis Osadebey Government House for him.

…says I have informants in his house

…Edo can’t be Lagos because here we are warriors

…warns that if care is not taken Edo will be centre of revolution in Nigeria if…

Barely one month to the Edo State guber polls, the deputy Governor of Edo State, Hon Phillip Shaibu has raised an alarm that the former governor, Adams Oshiomhole has started stockpiling arms.

Shaibu made this startling revelation in a national television programme on Monday declaring that Oshiomhole should be brought under control by law enforcement agencies.

He noted that” remember Oshiomhole is my father and before now I was living in his house each time I visit the village.

“I have informants in his house who give me updates on a daily basis on happenings in his house.

“The way things are going if care is not taken Edo State will be the center of revolution in this country.

On whether what happened in Lagos can be replicated in Edo, the deputy Governor said:

“Edo cannot be Lagos because here we are warriors and is going to be one man one vote nothing more nothing less.

APC chieftain identifies ‘fifth columnist’ within party rank

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Commissioner for Special Projects in Imo State, Comrade Simon Ebegbulem has described the Director-General of the Progressives Governors Forum, Salihu Lukeman as a fifth columnist.

Ebegbulem said Lukeman was playing a hatchet man’s job to scuttle the expected victory of the APC candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in the September 19, governorship election in Edo State.

In a statement made available to journalists, Ebegbulem who also is a member of the APC media Committee in the forthcoming election urged Lukeman to defect to the PDP rather than remaining in the APC and hiding under the guise of his hatred for the immediate past national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole to perpetuate his anti-party activities.

According to the statement: “It is now incontrovertible that the Director General (DG) of the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Dr Salihu Lukeman is a fifth columnist, playing the hatchet man’s job from the inside.

“For one, it is no longer news that Governor Godwin Obaseki, haven defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is in vain, trying to curry the support of selected All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, to endorse his re-election bid on the platform of the opposition party.

“To all self-respecting and loyal members of our party, the APC, this should be seen as an aberration, but not so for Dr Lukeman, who continues to display a wanton disregard for the party’s efforts at consolidating on its electoral gains.

“His hatchet man’s job right under the able leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari comes in the guise of picking on the immediate past National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole. Dr Lukeman has remained a paid hireling of the enemies of our great party.

“All can testify as to the patriotic disposition of Oshiomhole, following the recent events that led to the constitution of a caretaker Exco for the APC, and his unequivocal submission to all the decisions of the hierarchy, including the president’s admonitions. Oshiomhole not only withdrew all cases in courts; but thereafter proceeded to Edo State, where he served as a two-term governor, to face the work at hand.

“But, hear Lukeman’s last assault on the sensibility of all party faithful, in one of his most recent encounters with a daily newspaper, as published on August 11, 2020

“He went ahead throwing tantrums, as to undermine the party’s efforts ahead of the Edo State Governorship Election of September 19, 2020.

“Lukeman is better advised to go contest for councillorship if he wants to politic, and refrain from hauling insults on Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, a two-term former governor and immediate past National Chairman of the APC.

“Oshiomhole’s achievements, including his stewardship at the helm of affairs of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), remains a reference point till date, and it beats the imagination of anybody, why a Director-General of the Progressives Governors Forum, will lend himself to being used by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

“Here is a man that was accused by the EFCC for squandering the Nyanya Bomb victims’ relief fund that was donated by the governors, to assist the victims of bomb Nyanya bomb blast in 2015. He remains under the EFCC investigation. Yet he has the temerity to run his mouth against Oshiomhole.

“A man who was rejected by his people in his native Kaduna State when he vied for the senate is the one talking against Oshiomhole who is a winning machine. He is still lamenting because he wanted Oshiomhole to impose him as a senatorial candidate in the last general election and the man refused so he is angry.

“Whether Dr Lukeman likes it or not, Oshiomhole will lead the APC to victory in Edo State, and then, he will be ashamed of himself, by which time he will forever shut up in his mindless pursuit of trying to denigrate the efforts of those working round the clock for positive results.”

  • Edo 2020: I’m ashamed of my father, Oshiomhole, says Shaibu

Edo 2020: I’m ashamed of my father, Oshiomhole, says Shaibu

The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu has described the former acting National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole as not just his former boss but as his father, but that he is ashamed of how the former acting National Chairman is fooling himself around.

According to Shaibu, “Actually comrade Adams Oshiomhole is not my former boss but my father and I am ashamed, I am ashamed that Adams Oshiomhole who is my father will be fooling himself like he’s doing.

“I am really ashamed but I want to apologise to Nigerians, you know there’s a certain age you get to law of diminishing return sets in, I think that’s what is affecting my father but we’d take care of him as a good child, we’d take him to where they can check him medically properly so that he can return to the era where he was wearing khaki. Now he’s putting on safari, I think it has changed his mentality.

“But I want to talk about what he said just now, and I also want to agree with him that the proper name of my boss the governor of Edo state Godwin Obaseki will be reaffirmed on the 19th of September 2020.

“That is ‘his name is Godwin and God will definitely win in this election, so I want to join him to agree that the proper name of my governor will be reaffirmed on the 19th of September”.

The Deputy Governor, who spoke on Channels Television “Politics Today” and monitored by his Senior Special Assistant on Media, Benjamin Atu said “I also want to join to agree with Oshiomhole when he was prophesying those days when he was wearing khaki, when he said nobody can challenge God, and that we must also check the name we give to our children and he attributed to the fact that God bless my governor’s parents for giving him the name Godwin. And that is why God will win as any man that stands in the way of God that God will punish the person. So I want to agree with him (Oshiomhole) that if he Oshiomhole does not support that God will win then the prayer he prayed will follow him.

While speaking on the ongoing tension and events happening in the State, the Deputy Governor said, “if I must go back to what is happening in Edo state, he’s talking about certificate. I don’t want to go to history but if I must go to history very soon we will know why somebody will be a governor and ministry of education will be burnt down when tribunal is sitting. We’d go back there. Somebody that does not have a certificate can not talk about a man that he alluded to the fact and he waved his immunity and swear to God that this man went to school.”

“Not only that he went to UI, he even went America, and he helped to set up banks, that he was his brain box and without him he wouldn’t have succeeded for 8years. The same man now is talking the other way.”

I think the lesson here is that we should try not to allow the younger ones to hear what comrade said before and what he is saying now because we would not be sending a good message to our younger ones because they would see him as a role model, and that role model is not something we should sell to our children where you speak from both sides of your mouth.”

The Deputy Governor maintained that “As far as am concerned, in Edo state governor Godwin Obaseki has overwhelming support, because he’s not a man that speaks anyhow.”

He earned the name wake and see Governor because people sleep at night and wake up to see a project in their environment. OBASEKI has serve the people not Oshiomhole, let the people speak and not Oshiomhole. You can see they are spending money on propaganda.

Oshiomhole is not contesting an election, Oshiomhole got to Abuja to be National chairman of the APC, from 36 states they reduced to 18 states. That is not the Oshiomhole that we know, the Oshiomhole that we know was the one that will have Godwin Obaseki behind him as a brain box, that will have Oge ( the Edo State SSG)behind him as his CPU and have Edo people support him to succeed. But the Oshiomhole we have today is different so Seun, the election of Edo state is already won by my governor because people of Edo state are with him.

Clearing the air on the issue of the governor’s certificate raised by Oshiomhole saying PDP were the first to take up the certificate issue to court:

“Yes, the candidate Ize-iyamu raised the issue in court and court affirms that actually the case was dismissed because those credentials were original. And recently, University of Ibadan is just a stone throw from here and they also affirm that the certificate was not false, they are original and that they issued those certificate.

I think this is clear distraction. Like i earlier said I’ve apologized to Nigerians for my Father’s new attitude, but we’d take care of that. Even my certificate is being questioned by the same Adams Oshiomhole and his cohorts. They’ve gone to court on my own certificate also that there were also issues of litigation in case I won. Even my recent MBA certificate is also in court. Like i said earlier, they’re just trying to distract us and we refused to be distracted”

On keeping fate with campaign promises, the Deputy Governor said ” We promise we’re going to take good governance to the next level and that next level was to improve on what we achieved under comrade Adams Oshiomhole. Because the brain box was the governor who was the head of the economic team, I was the majority leader in the Edo state House of Assembly that speaks for the executive in the house of Assembly. So our collective work for 8 years which comrade also testified to was what we are going to take to the next level.

What was this next level? Some of these roads that were being constructed to forest areas, we have converted them to an Algerian area now, that’s the next level we are preaching about.

Speaking on the achievements of the Obaseki’s administration Philip Shaibu said, Is it in the area of Edo job or in the area of Education? For instance, in education under Oshiomhole which the governor was the chairman of economic team and I was majority leader in the Edo state house of Assembly, he built red roofs but those red roofs does not translate to what we wanted it to be in terms of educational policy now those red roofs were just buildings. Now what makes it a school? We have taken it to another level, digital learning is now in our Edo best program where teachers no longer use their hands to write their lesson notes.

Nobody wants to be a begger, what the people want is for government to create an enabling environment for them to be able to do their businesses, provide security, put infrastructure in place and open up the economy.

“On the creation of the 200,000 job comrade Philip Shaibu said “As at today I can vividly tell you that we have surpassed the 200,000 jobs because I just told you just a business day on his own not even from our own data, on his own chart by November last year, we have it on record that on their own check we’ve created 176,000 jobs. It was published, widely published. And by our own calculations, as at that time we have created 196,000 jobs.

On the issue of Federal might in the forth coming September Governorship election the Deputy Governor said ” As far as am concerned I believe that as Oshiomhole said there are no federal might but local might, our people are ready, they won’t be intimidated. They want to harass us because they know they are losing the election. But I can tell you that, just like the governor has said, we have told our people to be peaceful and I want to rely on comrade’s philosophy that we must vote and defend our votes and we must stand by one man one vote. One Oshiomhole one vote, one governor Obaseki one vote, one Philip Shaibu one vote, that principle is what we’d stand on, and we are going to i

We are not weakling, we don’t look for trouble but when trouble come we don’t run. As far as this election is concerned our people have made up their mind that Obaseki will return and by the grace of God I can assure you Seun that we would be very peaceful and we’d not be intimidated and we’d win the election by the grace of God.

  • Alleged indictment: Court fixes date to hear Oshiomhole’s suit

The Federal High Court, Abuja, has adjourned untill June 29, hearing in a preliminary objection filed by Mr Adams Oshiomhole challenging the court’s jurisdiction to entertain the fundamental rights enforcement suit he instituted against the Edo government.
Justice Ahmed Mohammed on Wednesday, adjourned the matter after taking arguments from parties in the suit.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a judicial committee of inquiry set up by Gov.Godwin Obaseki of Edo, to investigate ithe construction of the Edo Specialist Hospital, indicted Oshiomhole for alleged breach of the public procurement act.
The Justice James Oyomire-led committee recommended the arrest and prosecution of Oshiomhole.
The former governor, who was also recently suspended as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), thereafter, sought an ex-parte order from the court to stop his arrest and prosecution on account of the indictment by the investigative panel.
Justice Mohammed had, on June 1, ruled that the state government stayed action pending the determination of the matter.
Oshiomhole named the Attorney- General and Commissioner for Justice, Justice Oyomire, Inspector-General of Police and the Department of State Services as respondents in the suit.
At the resumed sitting on Wednesday, counsel to the defendants told the court that since they had just been served the court’s processes by the applicant, they pleaded for time to study the documents and respond and sought for adjournment .
The judge then adjourned hearing until till June 29.(
  • Edo APC Crisis: The Appeal Court legal titbits that nailed Oshiomhole

Edo APC Crisis: The Appeal Court legal titbits that nailed Oshiomhole

    By Prof N. O. Obiaraeri

Here are nine titbits and simplified analysis of the legal implications of the latest Court of Appeal judgment upholding the order of the FCT High Court Abuja for the suspension of Adams Oshiomole as APC National Chairman.

    ■ 1. The unanimous Court of Appeal judgment shows that OSHIOMOLE is in big trouble both with his membership of APC and or his continued stay in office as Chairman of the ruling party, APC.

    ■ 2. The jurisprudence of the recent Court of Appeal judgment against Oshiomole in the appeal he lodged is deep as that judgment restated that membership of a political party like APC is at the ward level.

    ■ 3 The Court of Appeal judgment further restates that if you are suspended or lose your party membership at the ward level, you are ineligible to hold party office or position whether at the Ward, Local Government, State or National levels.

■4. The Court of Appeal affirmed that the suspension of Oshiomole from his Ward 10 of Etsako Local Government of Edo State was variously ratified at the Ward, Local Government and State Government levels as required by law (APC Constitution) and the identity of those who suspended Oshiomole from the party was not in doubt because in their unchallenged affidavit they made it clear that they were party members and officers of the party, therefore the appeal lacks merit.

    ■ 5. By reason of the latest Court of Appeal judgment therefore, Oshiomole is not of good standing as a member of APC as he had been suspended in his ward and cannot continue to function as National Chairman or othet officer of the party, APC.

    ■ 6. The Court of Appeal judgment means again that the Kano Court order and all preservative orders earlier made by the Court of Appeal on which Oshiomole was clinging to operate as National Chairman has been violently uprooted and consigned to the dustbin of legal history.

    ■ 7. The order of the FCT High Court Abuja for the suspension of Oshiomole as APC National Chairman duly upheld by a unanimous judgment of the Court of Appeal is a heavy yoke on the political neck of Oshiomole who will henceforth cease to function as National Chairman of APC.

    ■ 8. The question whether Oshiomole can upturn the unfavourable decision of the FCT High Court upheld by the unanimous judgment of the three man Court of Appeal in the Supreme Court does not arise as it is outside the scope of this brief elucidation.

    ■ 9. In the interim and conclusively, following the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Oshiomole is restrained from parading himself as the National Chairman of the APC until he gets a reprieve or otherwise from the Supreme Court, (if he duly enters an appeal to the Supreme Court) as the apex and final court of law and justice in the land.

This is the law and nothing more pretentious.

    A new normal is possible!

Confusion reigns supreme in APC as four chairmen lay claim to position

…Ajimobi led APC reverses Giadom’s cancellation of screening C’ttee report

… as implosion stares ruling party

There are confusing signals from the All Progressives Congress, APC as four chairmen lay claim to the chairmanship position.

As it’s now, APC has four chairmen, Adams Oshiomhole, Victor Giadom, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and Shaibu Lawal.

The suspended chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole on one hand has declared that he’s still the substantive chairman until the apex court finally gives a verdict on his matter.

On the other hand, Senator Abiola Ajimobi who is said to be allegedly ill was announced late Tuesday evening by the Publicity Secretary, of APC Issa Onilu as the acting National chairman of the party.

Few hours after his announcement, Victor Giadom armed with a court injunction declared himself acting National chairman.

Just as Nigerians were still brooding over the next line of action from the ailing APC, Shaibu Lawal declared that he’s the authentic acting chairman.

Just a few hours ago the Abiola Ajimobi-led faction of the All Progressives Congress, APC has reversed the cancellation of the Edo state Gubernatorial screening exercise cancelled by acting APC national chairman, Victor Giadom.

The ruling party is currently embroiled in a serious crisis as it is now has four national chairmen, Giadom, OshiomholeLawal and Ajimobi.

Deputy Vice-Chairman (South-South), Hillary Eta, who addressed the media in the absence of the ailing Ajimobi, announced the reversal of the cancellation of the screening.

The Ajimobi-led APC faction has subsequently appointed Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as the Chairman of its Edo State Governorship Primary election.

The APC National Working Committee said Victor Giadom, who earlier took over as Acting National Chairman of the party, is not a member of the National Working Committee of the party having resigned his position to contest as Rivers Deputy Governor in 2019.

It’s confusion galore in APC barely 24hours after Governor Godwin Obaseki, his deputy, 14 lawmakers and 18 local government chairmen dumped APC for yet to be disclosed party.

  • Edo 2020: Stop blaming Oshiomhole over Obaseki’s disqualification-Edo APC chieftain

Edo 2020: Stop blaming Oshiomhole over Obaseki’s disqualification-Edo APC chieftain

…says he’s simply avoiding Bayelsa legal debacle

…he’s still having sllepless nights on that issue

A top chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Edo state has pleaded with Edolites to stop blaming Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over the disqualification of Edo state Governor, Godwin Obaseki as he is simply trying to avoid the Bayelsa legal debacle.

The APC chieftain who spoke under the condition of anonymity to Thenewsguru. com said:

“We should stop blaming the comrade over Obaseki’s disqualification because the Bayelsa legal debacle is still haunting him till date.

“He received all the blames as the chairman of APC because it was largely believed the party didn’t do a proper screening which made us lose the state to opposition.

“As a right thinking party loyalist do you expect him to fall into the same legal pitfall that made APC to lose a Niger Delta state.

The chieftain explained that ” all the documents submitted by Obaseki had question marks and some critics felt it should be overlooked a second time.

“If he allows it and the opposition this time around decide to apply the Bayelsa formula through the courts, who will receive the highest blame, is it not the comrade, he wondered.

“The affidavits he submitted were not in tandem with his credentials, for his HSC he simply attached a testimonial from Institute of Continuing Education, ICE and you want the party to overlook all these discrepancies.

“We can’t continue to progress in error as the party cannot afford to lose Edo to the opposition and remember it’s only the state we have in this region.

“At this stage, caution is the torchlight the comrade is holding to avoid embarrassing legal pitfalls because the party would hold him responsible.

Recall that another party chieftain, former Governor of Edo state, Senator Oserheimen Osunbor had recently told party members in a statement to with caution to avoid legal pitfalls that could rubbish the party.

Osunbor had advised all the warring party men to embrace peace before the primaries scheduled for June 22.

The Professor of Law who is also a member of the APC national Caucus explained that:

“The crisis in Edo State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) which has simmered for about two years now threatens to boil over as we draw closer to the Party’s Gubernatorial primaries on June 22. This portends disastrous consequences for the Party and the people of Edo State unless it is resolved promptly before the primaries.

“Given my position in the Party I have made efforts outside of public glare towards bringing about reconciliation by speaking to the two leading protagonists, the National Chairman Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and His Excellency the Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki as well as some of their supporters.

“I also tried to rally some elders of the Party from the State to broker peace. It is common knowledge that our revered royal father, His Royal Majesty the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II made his own efforts including appealing to our President Mohammadu Buhari to help broker peace among these two illustrious sons of Edo State.

” It is also believed that their mutual friend Dr. Aliko Dangote made repeated efforts at reconciliation to no avail. So did a number of others that I know.

When therefore the National Caucus of the party resolved at its meeting of 21 November 2019 to institute a National Reconciliation Committee to address the crises in various states of the Federation, which resolution was upheld by a decision of the National Executive Committee of the party the following day, there seemed to be light at the end of the tunnel.

” However, this has not happened till date as the National Reconciliation Committee which was reconstituted in February 2020 has not yet completed its assignment.

“There is now a chance that the Committee may be confronted with a fait accompli and overtaken by events if the Edo primaries (and guber elections) are held before it concludes its assignment.

“That would be tantamount to medicine after death. It will be extremely risky and ill-advised for the party to conduct its primaries, talk less of going into the governorship election bitterly divided; hence it has become urgent and compelling to hasten the process of reconciliation of all aggrieved persons without further delay.

“The reason that reconciliation is imperative is that if the Party conducts rancorous primaries and goes into the governorship elections divided, winning will become more difficult than it should be ordinarily, given the weakness of the opposition in the State.

“Even if the APC candidate wins the election the victory will be tenuous because of the threat of litigation that is almost certain to follow. This is why we must as a party tread with caution.

  • Edo 2020: Oshiomole’s silence a dangerous signal to Obaseki’s camp

Edo 2020: Oshiomole’s silence a dangerous signal to Obaseki’s camp

…as PDP like a vulture patiently waits

    …Oyegun spits fire

The comrade Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC , Adams Oshiomhole has never been this silent in his entire political career.

Definitely this silence is capable of rattling any camp that knows the antecedents of the comrade.

He is a fire brand that spits fire like the mythical dragon in cartoon series because once dared he emits fire from all cylinders.

His silence is also capable of making all permutations misfire as Edo politics today is laced to comrade’s groins.

In the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP there’s no visible sign that the party has any serious contender.

The political stalwarts there are patiently waiting for the comrade’s miscalculation to latch on.

If the APC primaries fail to produce a Godwin Obaseki as its flag bearer and he moves over the challenge to win the election will be gangantuan for the administrator.

Akinwunmi Ambode dared the Asiwaju of Lagos the results are all over Nigeria for all to see.

The Asiwaju simply told supporters of his APC”Ambode is a good administrator but not a good government man and chikena the matter was rested.

For sometime now, the comrade of Nigeria has not spoken but his body language and signals from all those that matters in Edo politics point to the fact that it’s not going to be a rosy affair for Obaseki in APC.

Edo may follow the path of Lagos as Obaseki maybe Ambodenised.

    Oyegun’s piece of mind:

The former chairman of APC and governor of Edo State Chief Odigie Oyegun has never his anger over how a state he once nurtured is being turned into a mine- field and battle ground.

Apparently peeved by this development, the elder statesman has made it clear that on no account should any leader should be involved in the conduct of the party’s primaries scheduled for June 22.

Oyegun in a veiled message directed to Oshiomhole said “some persons in the leadership of the party (APC) are part of the contrived crisis in Edo state and must not be allowed to plan , participate or supervise the primary election in the state.”

Oshiomhole in his new style of observing the law of silence has remained mum clearly sending another dangerous signal that all is not well in Edo APC.

The ambodenisation of Obaseki is gradually unfolding as 22nd of June lurks around the corner.
