  • I have no hand in Oshiomhole’s ordeal – Amosun

Gov. Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has dismissed rumours that he and Gov. Rochas Okorocha of Imo are behind the alleged detention and grilling of All Progressives Congress(APC) National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole.

Oshiomhole was reportedly detained and questioned on Nov. 4 by the Department of State Services (DSS) over the fallout of the APC primaries.

Speaking with State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Amosun said he did not have such capacity.

“I think you are giving me an oversight role.

“I am not a security person; so, clearly, that question will probably not be for me.

“I don’t hide under a finger and fight; if there is need for me to put my views across, you know by now, I will do it.”

The governor, who sounded evasive, said that all that needed to be said about the APC crisis had been said; hence no need to sound like `a broken gammaphone’.

He said it was not true that he was having problem with the leadership of the party.

It would be realled that three APC governors — Okorocha, Amosun and Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara have been at loggerheads with Oshiomhole over the outcome of the party’s primaries.

  • PDP urges NIA, DSS, Interpol to track down ‘on-the-run’ Oshiomhole

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and INTERPOL to track down “National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, believed to be on the run outside the country since his reported interrogation by the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged corruption charges”.

TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports PDP National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in a statement said, “Oshiomhole’s swift flight out of the country, at the heat of the investigation, is suspect and goes to confirm allegations that the Muhammadu Buhari Presidency is shielding him from prosecution for fear that his investigation would implicate certain interests at the Presidency and the APC”.

“It is ludicrous that the APC, in its lying proclivities, believes that by dismissing Oshiomhole’s arrest as a rumour and aiding him to momentarily flee the country, it would succeed in getting him off the DSS hook as well as sweeping the matter out of public discourse with its famished broom.

“No! Nigerians are already aware that Oshiomhole has not denied his investigation including his reported confession that the Presidency was in the loop of all his actions.

“The PDP had always cautioned Adams Oshiomhole of his unbridled arrogance, lust for power and alleged embezzlement of public funds for which he must surely have his day in the hands of the law.

“The PDP therefore demands that APC and the Buhari Presidency must immediately produce Adams Oshiomhole to face investigation and prosecution in our courts,” Ologbondiyan stated.

  • Delta APC primaries crisis: Court issues contempt notice on Oshiomhole

The Federal High Court sitting at Asaba has issued a contempt notice on the National chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole for disobeying its order not to submit list of Delta APC candidates to INEC and on the Chairman of INEC for disobeying its order not to receive and publish such candidates names from Delta State for the 2019 general elections until the resolution of the case.

The court noted that despite its order dated October 17, 2018, Comrade Oshiomole still went ahead to submit names of purported NASS candidates from Delta APC to INEC and that INEC also went ahead to receive and publish such names even when the order directed both parties in the case not to do so but to maintain “status quo.”

It would be recalled that Chief Cyril Ogodo led executive of the APC in Delta State, had dragged the APC, Oshiomhole, INEC and 1 other to court in a suit, with Suit No: FA/ASB/CS/76/2018, over the issue of the authentic list of candidates that emerged from the parallel primaries conducted in the state through the two contending State Executives in the state. The primary of the Chief Cyril Ogodo led Exco produced Prof Pat Utomi and Olorogun O’tega Emerhor as Governorship and Senatorial candidates respectively while that of the Prophet Jones Erue led Exco produced Chief Great Ogboru and Senator Ovie Omo-Agege as Governorship and Senatorial candidates respectively. The fourth defendant in the suit is Prophet Jones Erue and his parallel Executives.

The court in its sitting, Thursday, 1st November 2018, issued against Comrade Oshiomole and the INEC Chairman Form 48, notice of Consequence of Disobedience to court order, and warned that: “Take notice that unless you obey the direction contained in the order, you will be guilty of contempt and you will be liable to prison.”

Earlier at the court, the defendants failed to file their responses claiming they were not given the statutory time and that the Judge should first rule on their motion on notice challenging the Jurisdiction of the court. Maintaining her previous order on all parties to maintain the status quo, the judge affirmed she will not rule separately on Jurisdiction but shall take all motions together with the main issues. She subsequently adjourned the matter to November 13th to give extended time to the defendants to file their responses. She also pre-warned that she would proceed either way with the case on the adjourned date if the defendants still failed to file their responses.

  • Oshiomhole attacks Saraki, says APC more cohesive ever

Oshiomhole attacks Saraki, says APC more cohesive ever

Mr Adams Oshiomhole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, says the party has become stronger and more cohesive since Bukola Saraki and others defected to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP).

He said on Thursday in Abuja at the party’s 6th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, that Saraki and others who left the APC were migrant politicians who had no political address.

‘Our party is stronger, smarter, more cohesive and there is no better evidence than the fact that we have won all the major elections after they left the party.

“We have seen people who go back to their communities to decamp and we see uncommon defectors,” the APC national chairman said.

He, however, noted that while the party leadership made efforts to reconcile genuine aggrieved members, some of those who defected to opposition political parties were determined to leave.

According to Oshiomhole, such persons left the party to pursue their personal ambition which they believed they cannot realise in the APC.

“Though they were not denied the opportunity to try out that ambition, they arrived at the conclusion that the only way they can realise their ambitions was to relocate and they relocated.

“Of course, for a distant observer, he would think that this was a huge blow to our party,” he noted.

Oshiomhole said those who defected from the APC had no political address, because they kept moving from one party to another every season for the purpose of contesting elections.

He further said that such politicians were migrant politicians whose political addresses could not be identified, restating that he would never lose sleep over them.

The APC national chairman stressed that the party’s change agenda meant a move from a political order that services only the political elite at the expense of the poor.

He added that since the change would not allow business as usual, the conservatives had to leave on their own.

According to him, the party has done a lot to reconcile aggrieved members and will continue doing so to ensure peace and unity in all its chapters.

Oshiomhole attributed the party’s electoral victory in Ekiti to the support from President Muhammadu Buhari and the party’s governors.

The APC national chairman specifically thanked President Buhari for supporting the party’s executives, adding that he was indebted to all the party leaders and members.

“We are very proud to say that upon our assumption of office, we have won nearly all the elections that have taken place, particularly the ones at the states, Senatorial and House of Representatives.

“The first task before us was the election in Ekiti and under your leadership, as they say when the righteous rules, the people rejoice.

“The party won the election in Ekiti and your own former Minister who your excellency graciously relieved of his appointment to enable him go back to his state to serve his people, was elected.

“Mr President, you played a huge role in the electioneering campaign leading to that election,” Oshiomhole said.

  • Oshiomhole, DG DSS, 30 APC Senators meet on how to impeach Saraki, Says Timi Frank

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, has accused the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DG – DSS), Lawan Daura and 30 APC Senators – led by the Senate Leader Ahmad Lawan, of spearheading a fresh plot to illegally impeach the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki.

Frank who raised the alarm in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday morning, said the group met last night in Abuja to perfect strategies on how to carry out the plot.

He said that he has reliable information that the meeting was at the instance of Oshiomhole who is currently pressurizing President Muhammadu Buhari to accept his proposal of using “crude tactics” to topple Saraki and his Deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu.

He said according reliable information emanating from the meeting, National Vice Chairman (Southwest) of the APC, Chief Adeniyi Adebayo, joined Oshiomhole in pushing for the illegality while some APC Senators and House of Representatives members at the meeting kicked against the plot saying any “forceful removal of Saraki without due process will not fly with Nigerians.”

The lawmakers, according to Frank, were said to have further alerted Oshiomhole and the APC leadership that they only have 30 Senators on ground which will fall short of the 73 Senators required to lawfully impeach Saraki.

According to them, while other APC Senators have since travelled out of the country on vacation, a proposal to appoint Senator Lawan from Yobe State as Saraki’s replacement would be a direct violation of the Federal Character Principle since the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara is from Bauchi in the Northeast zone like Lawan.

Following the red flag raised by some of the APC Senators who warn of the consequences of the proposed illegality, according to Frank, the meeting was said to have been rescheduled to reconvene by 11am this morning to enable Oshiomhole to call Mr. President in London at 9am this morning to brief him on the progress made so far.

It was further learnt that Oshiomhole is expected to present the candidature of both Senators Lawan and George Akume to the President to make his choice during his proposed telephone conversation with Mr. President by 9am.

He added that the Presidency through the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has increased the $400,000 it is already offering to lure individual lawmakers to support the plot to illegally impeach Saraki to $500,000. He said the lawmakers are also being wooed with offers to drop all corruption charges against them by the Federal Government.

He insisted that Saraki’s life and personal safety is at stake while appealing to Nigerians and leaders of the international community to urgently speak out to protect the President of the Senate, Saraki, and safeguard democracy in Nigeria.

He said that the illegal plot to break into the Senate Chambers to illegally impeach Saraki, if allowed to happen, could lead to chaos and anarchy of unimaginable proportion in the country, capable of burying the nation’s democracy apart from the danger it portents for the lives, security and safety of Nigerians.

  • Governorship aspirant sweet-talks Oshiomhole’s APC leadership

Governorship aspirant sweet-talks Oshiomhole’s APC leadership

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has expressed the hope that the party is now better positioned and poised to overcome its challenges following the emergence of former Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as its new National Chairman.

Abe stated this while speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt shortly after his arrival from Bera, his hometown in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State where a mammoth crowd of supporters were on hand to receive him at a reception organized in his honour.

He expressed joy that the APC can now boast of a national leadership that is committed to the ideals and core values of the party where members will find a common ground to work together ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Abe, who is also the Senator representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, commended members of the APC in Rivers State for the enthusiasm and commitment they displayed during the convention, despite the challenges facing the party in the state.

He said, “I am very happy to be home after the convention and I want to use this opportunity to appreciate all members of the All Progressives Congress for their enthusiasm and commitment to the party despite the challenges facing our great party in Rivers State.

“They were in Abuja in their numbers; I am happy the convention is over and we have a brand new executive of the party that is committed to the ideals and core values of the APC.

“We believe that all members of the party will find common ground and work together so that we can begin to face the challenges before the party in the coming months.

“The new leadership of the party has said that they will be committed to truth, justice and inclusion to make sure that all members of the party have an opportunity to fully participate in the programmes of the party. The national chairman said so.

“And I think that is what this new executive is committed to. They will not humiliate somebody to please another. As far as I am concerned, Rivers State is ripe”.

Abe, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA), reiterated his resolve to contest the 2019 governorship election in Rivers State on the platform of the APC.

He said, “Let me say it now; what I have said as often as the issue has come up, I am going to contest the primaries of the governorship of Rivers State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

“My dream and vision is that we must be in a position to offer Rivers people a chance to choose between choices.”

  • Steer clear of Taraba, Delta, PDP cautions Oshiomhole

Steer clear of Taraba, Delta, PDP cautions Oshiomhole

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has told the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, to wake up from his pipe dream of thinking that his anti-people party can forcefully take over Taraba and Delta States in 2019.

The party said Oshiomhole should concentrate his energies on saving his APC from imminent collapse rather than attempting to bully and override the people of Delta and Taraba states ahead of 2019 elections.

Perhaps Oshiomhole mistook Delta and Taraba states 2019 elections for the APC 2018 national convention where President Muhammadu Buhari bullied and intimidated delegates to foist him as National Chairman, without proper election.

Nigerians know that Delta and Taraba states are major strongholds of the PDP for which we clearly won the 2015 governorship and presidential elections in the states.

The PDP, in 2015, enjoyed overwhelming followership which has now tripled in the last three years, signposting our inevitable victory in 2019, particularly due to the sterling performance of Governors Ifeanyi Okowa and Darius Ishaku in delivering good governance and development to the people.

Furthermore, it is an unpardonable assault on the sensibilities of the people of these states for Oshiomhole to mute that they will vote for the same APC, which has failed to protect their lives and has continued to play helpless while marauders slaughter their brothers and sisters and ravage their communities.

We are however not unaware of Oshiomhole’s pattern of deploying false assertions, propaganda and instigating confusion, but we assure him that such cannot work in Delta and Taraba states, no matter the machination, as the people are solidly behind the PDP in our quest with majority of Nigerians to rescue our nation from the clutches of the APC.

Instead of wasting his time fixating on PDP states, we advice Oshiomhole to direct his energy on how to save his crumbling party from the misfortune of being stuck with an unpopular candidate in President Buhari, who has become the fixed omen of inescapable electoral humiliation of the APC in 2019.

Even Oshiomhole, who by now ought to have surrendered himself to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of humongous corruption and stealing of public funds hanging on his neck, knows that he is a derelict salesman of a very bad product, but had to believably take up the job to save himself from prosecution.

We know that Oshiomhole, in the excitement of his prosecution cover, would do everything to please his benefactor, but rather than seeking to distract our governors, who are busy delivering and commissioning projects, he should direct attention to President Buhari and APC governors who cannot boast of any serious achievement upon which they can campaign in 2019.

The PDP cautions the APC to perish the thoughts of muzzling the electoral process at any level in 2019, as such will be stiffly resisted by Nigerians across the country.

  • Oshiomhole declares for Chairman ahead of NC

Oshiomhole declares for Chairman ahead of NC

Immediate past governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole will, on Thursday, officially declare intention to run for position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

TheNewsGuru reports this is ahead of the party’s National Convention (NC) scheduled to hold in June this year.

Oshiomhole, confirming his decision to formally announce his intention, said he was joining the chairmanship race with a view to contributing his quota to the growth of the APC.

“It is true that I intend to make my ambition known to our party members and Nigerians. I strongly believe that with the experience I have gathered in my public life, haven served as President of the NLC, governor of Edo State, I have what it takes to take our dear party, the ruling party to the next level,” he said.

The aspiration of the Edo former governor to replace the outgoing chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun got a boost after he was endorsed by President Muhammadu Buhari.‎

The declaration ceremony, which will hold in Abuja, is expected to be attended by APC chieftains, including the chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, Senate President Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, APC Governors and National Assembly members.

  • Oshiomhole talks tough against looters

The former governor of Edo, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government, to adopt a “ruthless” measure against alleged looters of the nation’s treasury.

Oshiomhole, who disclosed this on Sunday in Benin, described as mindless the stealing by the then Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led Federal Government.

The former governor noted that it was the right of Nigerians to know the level of rot that transpired in former President Goodluck Jonathan’s government.

“I think that if other Nigerians don’t understand the power of transparency, the right to know, the media should uphold that right and defend it.

“What was stolen was not from private purse; the house that was destroyed was not a private residence.

“We are talking of resources, which if it is distributed on basis of equality, divide by 180 million people you will be a lot richer.

“I think my only complaint is that the Federal Government should be more ruthless because there are lot of people who should be in court who are not there.

“When I was still in the office and I said the kind of money they stole was huge in dollars they paid hired writers to ask how I knew.

“I have interacted with power vertically and horizontally. I know that we cannot be lamenting today without understanding that the treasury was burgled yesterday.

“I think the promise of democracy is that good or bad, the people have the right to know and that is the starting point and particularly important.

“I think the people have the right to know and if any of them think that what has being said is not true, they can go to court.

“All of them who are involved and those who they are looking for, they should put everything in public domain and that is the promise of democracy and it is about you.

“Just by virtue of being in a winning party they helped themselves so much.

“One of the acting chairmen of PDP, Ahmed Makarfi, I used to respect him so much, I heard him saying that the reason they did not indict Diezani was that the money missing and everything that was done, Goodluck approved.

“If President approved the money, should it be stolen and not go into the federation account or used for the intended purpose.

“Jonathan may have immunity against prosecution but he doesn’t have power to appropriate what the national assembly have not done.

“Right now, they are now saying the national assembly should not approve the $1 billion the Federal Government is going to spend on security.

‘’This is a party that spent well above that without going to the national assembly at all.”
