We’ll show Atiku,Aregbesola, Amaechi, others the gate out of ADC in 2027 – Hon Abejide

    .. they’re all hijackers

Leke Abejide, House of Representatives member representing the Yagba East/Yagba West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency of Kogi State, has warned that coalition leaders like Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, David Mark, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi will be sent out of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Abejide said the Atiku-backed coalition is not in control of the ADC and he would prove it soon.

The opposition coalition recently adopted the ADC as its official political party.

Following the adoption, Mark was appointed as ADC’s Interim National Chairman, and Aregbesola as Interim National Secretary.

There are permutations that Atiku, Obi, and Amaechi are likely contenders for the party’s presidential ticket.

Dismissing their grip of the party, Abejide said ADC’s constitution stipulates that one can only occupy national office after two years in the party.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Customs and Excise disclosed this while appearing on the Mic On podcast on Saturday.

He also spoke about the ADC’s leadership crisis in Kogi State.

Abejide said: “Ogah and co are being sponsored by the coalition people, the coalition people are those that came from Labour, PDP, and a fraction from APC.

“In my state they are there, people like Dino Melaye and former senator Tunde Ogbeha, they are the ones behind all these crisis.

“Kingsley Ogah and Adaji are not in the NWC. According to our constitution, before you are suspended, you have to go to the Ward.

“It’s the Ward Chairman and board executive that can suspend me and not the state working committee. The two of them can’t constitute themselves to be State working committee.

“Give me some few days if I’m the National leader of ADC or not, you will know. We will send them (Atiku, David Mark, Aregbesola, Amaechi, Peter Obi) back to where they came from.

“It’s a lie, they have not taken over the party.

“According to our constitution, you can’t hold a National office except you are two years in the party and there is no room for an Interim leader.

“In the next few days we will know whether I’m the National leader of ADC or not, we will send them back to where they came from.”

Rep. Abejide rejects ADC coalition, threatens legal action

Rep. Leke Abejide (ADC-Kogi) has rejected any coalition arrangement by African Democratic Party (ADC) with other political parties.

Abejide, representing Yagba Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, told newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja, that he would not allow ”people from nowhere” to hijack the party.

He also faulted the party’s leadership and disputed the legitimacy of his purported suspension.

NAN reports that Abejide’s rejection of the coalition arrangement was not unconnected to his purported suspension, along with four other members of ADC, by the party’s State Working Committee, led by the erstwhile Chairman, Mr Kingsley Ogga.

The lawmaker claimed that Ogga’s leadership was invalid in view of his alleged expulsion from the party since 2022.

Abejide, who is serving his second term in the national assembly, emphasised that Ogga remained expelled from the party and was no longer recognised.

He also expressed surprise that an ADC meeting was held in the state at Sen. Tunde Ogbeha’s house, with the former senator purporting to be the party leader.

“As the national leader of the party and having been the party’s financier for over eight years, I should question the legitimacy of Ogbeha’s leadership,” he said.

According to him, ADC constitution requires that a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting be called before any leadership change can be made.

Abejide decried the fact that, as an elected representative and highest-ranking member of ADC’s NEC, he was not informed of any meeting or decision to replace the party’s leadership.

“If the party’s National Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu, truly wants to resign, the Deputy National Chairman from the South should take over, following the party’s constitutional order of succession,” he said.

As the party’s national leader, he said that he had taken the matter to court, challenging the legitimacy of the current leadership, saying that it was unknown to the party structure.

He advised the Sen. David Mark leadership to go back and look for another plan rather than pursuing the current course of action.

While insisting that ADC would not be available for such arrangement, he asked the leadership to go back and register their All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

“There is no coalition because it cannot stand. I have the locus standi to challenge every of their actions in court because they are interlopers. Their coalition is dead on arrival,” he said.

Abejide stressed the need for the party to adhere to its constitution and ensure that leadership transitions were conducted transparently and lawfully.

Nigerians are disillusioned over poor governance ADC on a rescue mission” -New Nat’l Legal Adviser, Osunbor(Photos)

.. democracy at the verge of collapse

…ADC has become a beacon of hope for Nigerians

Former Governor of Edo State, two term member of the Senate and now National Legal Adviser of the Africa Democratic Party, ADC, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor on Monday raised an alarm that democracy is at the verge of collapse in Nigeria.

The Professor of Law also pointed out that due to poor governance Nigerians are disillusioned but insisted that his party the ADC is on a rescue mission.

Osunbor made this disclosure in a brief handover ceremony in Abuja as the outgoing Legal Adviser, Peter Oyewole handed over to him.

    Hear him:

He hailed Oyewole saying: “I want to commend your role in ensuring compliance with all the processes that were needed to ensure a very smooth coalition into the ADC.

“Your party the ADC is now our party and I commend you for ensuring due diligence and due compliance with all the processes that were required to ensure that the coalition came about successfully.

“I should also commend you, you just told me about cases in court, litigations that you have been handling very competently together with your team of lawyers and the volunteers, the legal practitioners who have offered their services pro bono to ADC under your leadership you have done very well.

“I do hope and expect that the services you have been rendering to ADC will not cease with this handover, you are not offloading everything to me because you have institutional memory about how far ADC has gone up to this very moment and we will be relying on that institutional memory.

“Don’t feel distant from us, we will continue to count on your support as we count on the support of every Nigerian including legal practitioners many of whom as you said have already offered to support and assist this party pro bono. So we will be counting on your continued support.

“The ADC has come to become a beacon of hope for Nigerians who have become so dejected and frustrated by the nature of the governance that we are experiencing in Nigeria today.

“Everywhere people are disillusioned to the extent that I believe that our democracy and indeed the nation is under serious threat of disintegration, our democracy is under serious threat and Nigerians are looking up to ADC to be able to move out of this APC led government that has led Nigerians with lies and deceit and people are being plunged into penury day after day.

“The level of poverty is very high and people are looking up to ADC to rescue Nigerians from the unfortunate situation in which we find ourselves, that our hard won democracy is being seriously threatened by the government in place.

“So we are very mindful of this onerous responsibility that Nigerians expect us to play and as I said before I hope that we will continue to work together to ensure that the aspirations of Nigerians are fulfilled by ensuring the emergence of ADC led federal government in 2027 and also ADC being in control of many states of the federation.

“We are not in this race just simply to remove APC from the position they now occupy as if they are conquerors of Nigerians but we offer credible leadership.

“We know that government should cater to the welfare and well-being and security of the people which now is very lacking.
We are very mindful of what we should be doing to put a smile back on the faces of Nigerians.

“We know very well that Nigerians are suffering and we know that Nigerians are looking up to us to take all necessary steps required to ensure that government is all about people and not about personal aggrandizement or just lining your personal pocket with money.

“The wealth, the resources of Nigeria must go to the benefit of Nigerians, not a few”, he added.

Kogi ADC suspends Rep Leke Abejide indefinitely

The Kogi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended the member representing Yagba East-West/Mopamuro Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Leke Abejide, indefinitely.

It was gathered that Abejide was suspended indefinitely for gross insubordination and anti-party activities.

A statement by Kogi ADC Secretary, Adaji John, states that the suspension follows Abejide’s recent meeting with party members in Abuja without clearance from the state leadership.

The party accused the lawmaker of attempting to absorb the powers of the state chairman and secretary, casting aspersions on the leadership, and working against the party’s interests.

ADC in the statement cautioned Abejide, stressing that continuous disobedience could lead to expulsion, as it warns other members involved in anti-party gatherings to desist or face consequences.

Osun 2026: I am not defecting to ADC – Adeleke

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke says he is not defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the Aug. 8, 2026 governorship election in the state.

This is contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Friday in Osogbo by Malam Rasheed Olawale, the spokesperson for the governor.

Olawale said the governor remained in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was not aligning with anybody within the ADC.

He said that there was no truth in the speculation about Adeleke’s imminent defection or alignment with ADC big wigs ahead of the 2026 governorship race.

“There is no truth in those speculations and publications,” he said.

Olawale said that since the PDP in Osun had adopted and endorsed President Bola Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election, there was no alliance with ADC.

“Gov. Adeleke has no alliance with anyone in ADC. He remains in PDP, will run in PDP, and needs no alliance with ADC to win with a wide margin in 2026.

“The Osun electorate supports the governor because of his impressive performance since he came to office.

“That good work is still ongoing, and the people of the state are committed to sustaining the delivery of good governance by re-electing him in 2026,” he said.

The spokesperson also said that the governor had directed PDP members to forge ahead with the ongoing strengthening of the party structures across all levels to prepare for fresh victory in the election.

ADC appoints Deputy National Youth Leader

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed Mr Chinonso Obasi, a former National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), as its Deputy National Youth Leader.

Obasi’s Personal Assistant on Media, Samson Ogunwoye, communicated this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

“As Nigeria’s political landscape continues to evolve ahead of the 2027 general elections, the ADC, in its bid to build a formidable front, has appointed Obasi as its Deputy National Youth Leader.

“Obasi has also previously served as Regional Coordinator for the South-South, Southeast Coordinator of NANS.

“He also made history as the Pioneer President of the Nigerian Youth Union (NYU) and represented Nigerian students at the 2014 National Confab.’’

According to Ogunwoye, Obasi is a seasoned youth development consultant and humanitarian known for his boundless benevolence and commitment to youth advocacy.

“Born on April 27, 1987, he hails from Ebonyi; he holds a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering; he is happily married to Hannah Chinonso, and together they have three children.’’

He said Obasi had also served as a member of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in 2015, 2019 and 2023.

According to Ogunwoye, Obasi’s wealth of experience, professionalism, and strong youth following are expected to play a significant role in his new assignment.

“The ADC leadership, formerly under the chairmanship of Ralph Nwosu, officially handed over to Sen. David Mark as National Chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as Secretary General, alongside other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) on July 28 during its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja,’’ he said.

  • Obi, El-Rufai not card-carrying members of our party – ADC

Obi, El-Rufai not card-carrying members of our party – ADC

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has confirmed that former govenors Peter Obi and Mallam Nasir El-Rufai are not card-carrying member of their party.

ADC spokesman, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this while speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday night.

Abdullahi, however, insisted that Obi was part of their coalition from the first day.

“Peter Obi has been part of the coalition from day one.

“He has attended almost every meeting of the coalition.

“The reason Peter Obi has not come into the ADC as a card-carrying member is because he asked for leave to allow him complete the election that his people were involved in Labour Party.

“The same thing applies to Mallam Nasir El-Rufai. And they were both allowed by the leadership to complete the election processes that they started in their respective parties.

“Peter Obi is a member of the coalition, but not a card-carrying member of the ADC.”

  • No imposition, no indiscipline under me in ADC – David Mark

No imposition, no indiscipline under me in ADC – David Mark

Sen. David Mark, the Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) says the party under his watch will not tolerate candidates’ imposition, anti-party activities and other forms of indiscipline.

Mark made this known in his remarks at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja. The interim chairman also pledged to serve the party with integrity, transparency, courage, and vision.

He acknowledged the patriotism, sacrifices, and dedication of the outgoing National Chairman, Chief Ralph Nwosu, and his team, who he lauded for building the ADC over the years and for relinquishing party leadership in the interest of the country.

He also commended all party leaders and loyal members who contributed to the party’s growth, assuring them that his leadership would be fair and just.

“I assure you that under my leadership, we shall be committed to full democratic practices and principles that abhor imposition and special privileges. Internal democracy, transparency, and accountability will be our mantra.

“We will guarantee collective leadership at all levels. We will build a technically competent bureaucracy for the party and ensure structured financing. All members will truly own the party.

“We shall revamp our grassroots leadership structures to reflect modern realities. From the polling units, wards up to the national level, every organ will be re-energised,” he said.

Mark also promised inclusion for the youth and women.

”Our policies, nominations, and leadership roles will reflect meaningful inclusion of youths and women and not just tokenism.

“This is why we have reserved 35 per cent of our leadership positions for women. It is also our commitment to have youths below the age of 40 years in our leadership,” he said.

He disclosed that the new National Working Committee (NWC) would, within the shortest possible time, raise committees to review the party’s manifesto and constitution to meet and reflect the aspirations of the Nigerian people.

“We shall clearly articulate what we stand for. Nigerians must know us as a party driven by unblemished ideology, progressive policies, and patriotic governance.

“We will not leave it to the discretion of individual candidates to choose what to do with power,” he affirmed.

Mark announced that in the coming days, the ADC would unveil a 50-member policy committee dedicated to key sectors.

These according to him were, health, education, agriculture, technology, security, economy, and infrastructure, underscoring the party’s focus on achieving good governance for Nigerians.

He urged all Nigerians to join the ADC, promoting it as the only party that guarantees equal opportunity regardless of age, gender, religion, or region.

He also encouraged all ADC members to return to their polling units and begin working at the grassroots, rather than remaining in Abuja.

Earlier in his remarks, Chief Nwosu highlighted the ADC’s significant growth, stating it had transformed from a “small largest party in Nigeria” to a major political force under Mark’s leadership.

Nwosu noted the increasing number of people seeking registration in the ADC nationwide, revealing that the party’s website had crashed three times due to the influx of young people attempting to register online.

He described the adoption of ADC by the national coalition and unveiling Mark led leadership on July 2 as the beginning of a new dawn.

“Within one week, our membership grew from maybe 600 people who were paying membership dues to almost three million who started paying membership dues.

“Some states have told us that we must print a minimum of two million membership cards for them,” he said.

Nwosu urged the judiciary, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other democratic institutions in Nigeria to be alive to their responsibilities in delivering their mandates.

An ADC Chieftain, Godson Okoye, advised party members to remain hopeful, describing the ADC as a party poised to lead Nigeria towards economic prosperity.

“This journey has just begun, let us encourage ourselves,” Okoye said.

  • 2027: Mass defection hits PDP as Yashikira District joins ADC

2027: Mass defection hits PDP as Yashikira District joins ADC

In a significant political realignment, the people of Yashikira District comprising Gure/Gwassoro and Yashikira wards have officially decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The well attended meeting, held in Gure, featured delegates from all village areas across the district, reaffirming their unified resolve to align with the ADC in pursuit of a more promising political future.

It would be recalled that all PDP officials in both wards including the Local Government Woman Leader and several other key executives had earlier renounced their membership and declared allegiance to the ADC in Baruten Local Government Kwara state.

Addressing the gathering, Alhaji Hussein Mayan, Chairman of Yashikira Ward, and Mallam Issa Barka, Chairman of Gure/Gwassoro Ward, called for unity, cooperation, and dedication within the ranks of the new party. They described the ADC as a “self-marketing” political platform one that thrives on integrity, grassroots engagement, and collective progress.

This sweeping defection deals a significant blow to the PDP in the Baruten axis and underscores the rising profile and momentum of the ADC across Kwara North, especially in the lead-up to future political contests.

  • Obi cannot take the risk of going to PDP – ADC

Obi cannot take the risk of going to PDP – ADC

The spokesman for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, cannot “take the risk” of returning to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Abdullahi stated this on Monday while appearing on Arise TV’s Prime Time.

He was reacting to questions about the PDP wooing Obi to return to the party.

“Let me say clearly, Peter Obi is in the coalition,” Abdullahi said.

“Regardless of what anybody is saying. But it is good to see that it has taken the coming on board of ADC, to get PDP to begin to make some movements.

“But everyone knows the jugular of the PDP is in the hands of the ruling party.

“Peter Obi, more than anyone else, knows that he cannot take the risk of going to the PDP.”
