  • Adeboye reacts to accusations of silence on national issues

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye on Wednesday reacted to series of protests against his alleged silence on issues affecting the body Christ and other national issues in Nigeria.
In a statement released by head of RCCG Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi on Wednesday, the revered clergy reaffirmed his commitment to the umbrella Christian organizations that are mandated to speak on issues affecting the Church and the nation as a whole.
He stated, as in the past, that the views of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) represented his position and that of the RCCG.
Pastor Adeboye, himself a one-time President of PFN, noted that the aforementioned Christian bodies had spoken on the issues of kidnapping, killing of Christians, herdsmen attacks and general insecurity in Nigeria and that his position and that of the RCCG was not different from their expressed views.
Besides, as a Pastor and spiritual father to millions of people in Nigeria and across the world, he regularly leads the congregation to pray over the problems confronting the nation at all major programmes of the Church.
Adeboye who said that, to be quiet does not mean that you are silent, disclosed that he had made his views on the issues known to all the relevant authorities. He declared that very soon, Nigerians shall see that God answers prayers. He enjoined all to remain calm and maintain the peace.
The RCCG leader had always called the congregation to prayers against kidnapping, bloodshed and general insecurity at the monthly all-night Holy Ghost Service held at the Redemption Camp. For instance, at the July Holy Ghost Service, Pastor Adeboye led the congregation in supplication for God’s mercy on Nigeria after speaking on the negative consequences of bloodshed and inhumanity. That was four days before a group of students and youths under the leadership of some notable artistes like Baba Fryo, Charley Boy and Eedris Abdulkarim came to the Redemption Camp.
According to the group, they had come to show their unhappiness with his supposed silence over killings of Christians, establishment of cattle camps called RUGA and kidnapping in the country.
Recall that leadership CAN, PFN had also come in defence of Adeboye insisting that the clergy and his church, RCCG were under its umbrellas and bonded by its decision/stance on national issues

  • CAN reacts to protest against Adeboye

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged secular musicians who protested to the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to direct their future protests to the government.
The was stated by the association in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by its National Director, Legal and Public Affairs, Mr Samuel Vondip.
Some musicians, including Charly Boy, Idris Abdulkareem and Baba Fryo on Monday staged a peaceful protest at the RCCG Redemption Camp on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, calling on Pastor Adeboye to speak up against what they termed the injustice in the country.
”While we appreciate the concern of the protesters over the issues they raised and the call for a better nation, we strongly believe that singling out one of our leaders and members, to say the least, is unfair.
”The entire exercise, in our view, was ill-motivated. The people who staged this insulting protest against a highly revered Servant of God in the person of Pastor Adeboye are totally ignorant of the operations of CAN.
”It needs to be known to all that Adebayo had addressed the press on several occasions, saying that as a ‘man under authority’, he cannot speak on issues that CAN or PFN have spoken about,” Vondip said.
He said that any protest against Adeboye would be viewed by CAN as a systematic insult against church leaders in Nigeria.
”Why should any group of people think that it is their right to protest and demand that Pastor Adeboye must speak on the issues they listed when CAN and PFN had spoken about them?
”On about three occasions, CAN had taken many of the issues raised by the protesters to President Muhammadu Buhari
”CAN had requested the government to do more to get the people in Boko Haram captivity released.
“We specifically mentioned the remaining Chibok girls, Leah Sharibu, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, the Islamic preacher who is still kept in detention against the ruling of the court,” he said.
Vondip said that CAN had also spoken to those in government, especially the Christians among them who were members of the association, to speak for the oppressed in the country.
He added that they had been urged to defend their faith rather than explaining away evils in order to protect their jobs and daily bread.
The CAN national director also added that on some occasions, the association had written the National Assembly for their intervention.
”While we understand the frustration of those who organised the protest, we are against the method they adopted by directing their anger against an innocent man.
”Adeboye will never support oppression and he has been speaking against these evils in the land through CAN and, on several occasions, in his sermons.
”We further urge those who protested to direct their future protests at those in government who should do more to free those who have been in captivity for no sins of theirs.
”They should direct their protest against the people in power to make the nation safer from the attacks of herdsmen, kidnappers, ritual killers, armed robbers, armed bandits and Boko Haram terrorists.
”We have no gun to fight our battles except to speak out as we have been doing and never at the same time give up praying to God who can do all things,” he added.

  • Why Pastor Adeboye is 'silent' on national issues – CAN

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has come in defence of Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s presumed silence on prevailing national issues.
The Christian body said Adeboye is a member of CAN as well as Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) and the two Christian bodies have taken their stand of current national issues.
CAN said no one should expect Adeboye to speak on the same issues that have been addressed by the two prominent Christian bodies.
The reaction of CAN is coming on the backdrop of alleged protest by a group of secular musicians who claimed they were protesting the refusal of Adeboye to comment on national issues in recent times.
In a statement issued in Jos on Wednesday by Evangelist Barr Kwamkur Samuel, National Director, Legal and Public Affairs CAN said, “The attention of the Christian Association of Nigeria has been drawn to the news of a protest led by some secular musicians against one of our highly respected leaders of the Church, not only in Nigeria, but Worldwide, namely, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye, over his purported silence on some unpleasant national issues and the call for his suspension from the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, (PFN).
“While we appreciate the concern of the protesters over the issues they raised and the call for a better nation, we strongly believe, as the umbrella body for Christians and churches in Nigeria, to which the Redeemed Christian Church of God and Pastor E. A. Adeboye belong, that to single out one of our leaders and members, to say the least, is unfair. The entire exercise, in our view, was ill-motivated.
“The people who staged this insulting protest against a highly revered servant of God in the person of Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye are totally ignorant of the operations of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). It needs to be known to all that for more than once, Pastor E. A. Adebayo has addressed the press and said that as a ‘man under authority’, he cannot speak over issues that CAN or PFN have spoken about, unless by the express permission of these two bodies.
“Our highly respected worldwide, Pastor Adeboye is an unusually humble man and a man of the spirit, who has learnt to operate under authority in line with Scriptural injunctions as a Servant of God. He has said more than once that he cannot say anything again after CAN and PFN have spoken about issues.
“Any protest against Pastor Adeboye will be seen by us as a systematic insult against the leaders of the church in Nigeria. Why should any group of people think that it is their right to protest and demand that Pastor Adeboye should speak over the issues they listed when CAN and PFN have spoken on them?
An attempt to demand that pastors that belong to our collective Association should again be speaking one by one after the group has spoken is an attempt to divide the Christian body.
“For emphasis, if we go the memory lane, for not less than three occasions, CAN has taken many of the issues which the protesters were mentioning to President Muhammadu Buhari, requesting the government to do more to get the people in captivity released such as the remaining Chibok Girls, Leah Sharibu, the captive of faith and El Zakzaki, the Islamic Preacher that is still kept in detention against the ruling of the court. CAN has spoken to those in government, especially the Christians among them, who belong to our Association, to speak for the oppressed like Esther of the Bible did, and defend the faith rather than explain away evils in order to protect their jobs and daily bread. On some occasions we have written the National Assembly for their intervention to no avail.
“While we understand the frustration of those who organized the protest, we are against the method they adopted by directing their anger against an innocent person. Pastor Adeboye will never support oppression and he has been speaking against these evils in the land through Christian Association of Nigeria and on several occasions in his sermons”
CAN further urge those who protested to direct their future protest at those in government who should do more to free people in captivity for no sin of theirs. They should direct their protest against the people in power to make the nation safer from the attacks of herdsmen, kidnappers, ritual killers, armed robbers, armed bandits and Boko Haram terrorists, saying, “We have no gun to fight our battles except to speak out as we have been doing and never at the same time give up praying to God who can do all things”

Your enemies won’t bury you, Adeboye tells Christians

General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has told Christians that their enemies would not be able to bury them.

Adeboye, who preached during the church’s April 2019 Holy Ghost Service at the Redemption Camp at the weekend, said if Christians were born to shine, they would surely shine.

“There is no pit so deep that is beyond the everlasting arms of God. God knows the end from the beginning. If anybody throws you into a pit, God will see that the pit is dry. “Your enemies won’t be able to bury you.

“No man can serve two masters. If you’re already serving Jesus, you’re not a slave, you’re no longer your own. Anyone who tries to keep you in slavery will have to deal with Jesus,” he said.

According to the man of God, “When you are born to shine, anywhere you are, you will shine. To shine means to excel, to be better than others. The greatest thing for us Christians is that we are going to shine before the King of kings.

“Keep on winning souls. You can shine. You will shine. Nobody will be able to stop you. You will shine before kings,” he added.

  • I’m not God, stop buying items displaying my picture – Pastor Adeboye warns members

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has warned church members to stop buying any item that displayed his picture, saying he is not God.

Speaking at the ongoing Holy Ghost Congress 2018 at Mowe in Ogun, Adeboye said he had nothing to do with the items such as stickers, key holders and books, among others.

According to Adeboye, displaying his pictures on items is against his God.

He said he did not approve anyone to use his picture on key holders, stickers and other items.

“I am human, I am not God, and I am not ready to take the Glory of God.

“What this people are doing can lead to trouble for me, for God will not share his glory with anyone. If someone shares Glory with God, the person is as good as dead.

“If you see anyone selling any item with my picture or my wife’s picture on it, report them to the police,” Adeboye said.

  • Timi Dakolo, Daddy Freeze react as Pastor Adeboye advises youths to seek pastors’ counsel before parents’

The duo of singer Timi Dakolo and controversial on-air personality, Daddy Freeze, have shared their views about the statement made by wife of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Foluke Adeboye.
The respected cleric urged youths to seek their pastor’s counsel first before their parents’ when they want to get married.
The pastor’s comment trended on Twitter yesterday after she spoke at the RCCG’s annual Youth Convention.
She advised the youths to seek the counsel of their pastors first before their parents when they find their life partner.
Daddy Freeze, who has always condemned Nigerian pastors and had been in a war of words with Pastor Enoch Adeboye over tithe related issues, said :“Are these people beginning to manifest early signs of senility?
“These teachings have no recourse to the Bible! Jesus himself said you shouldn’t give money meant for your parents to the temple, let alone this trash.
“I hope these people have access to the wealth and the airplane she and her husband are flying when they have finished helping them take all these decisions for them?”
Dakolo in his Instagram page, shared his opinion on the issue.

He wrote:”This is the context with which Mummy @pastorfoluadeboye said what she said, all this cut and paste people trying to stay relevant ,always picking quotes out of context to slander and belittle people. Only a person with a low self esteem will exhibit such attribute. There absolutely nothing wrong in what said, seeking spiritual counsel first doesn’t mean your parents are irrelevant. For marriage is a very important spiritual union. We all need spiritual guidance”.

Resist temptations to doubt, mock God, Adeboye warns Christians

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has warned Christians of the danger inherent in mocking or doubting God.
The popular preacher therefore warned Christians to resist mounting temptations to doubt God irrespective of the circumstance.
Adeboye said this in a sermon at the Redemption Camp of the Church.
“Don’t doubt God!” he said. “When you doubt God you are already mocking Him.”
Preaching during the September Holy Ghost Service of the church with the theme “Stronger than your enemies 7: Silencing mockers.” he warned that those who love to mock God or things of God end badly.
Adeboye anchored the sermon on the story of Hannah in the Bible, citing many other instances where people mocked God and ended up on the wrong side of time.
They included people who mocked Noah when he was building the Ark and those who mocked Lot before the fire fell.
He recalled that, “in the days of Lot people were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting and building when Lot went to tell his in-laws that he had heard that destruction is coming but they laughed at him. By the following day when the fire fell, they were not laughing anymore.”
He also cited an example from the days of Moses: “The children of Israel murmured to God that all they had to eat was manna. God said that they were ungrateful so let us give them a bit of judgment. Fiery serpents came among them and many Israelites died. But God said to Moses, make a fiery serpent and set it upon a pole, so that whosoever was bitten and looked upon the serpent on the pole shall live and made whole.
“Do you know that some people still mocked Moses saying we are talking of serpent biting us and you are saying we should look up to a serpent made of brass to be saved? So, as many that did not look up to the brazen serpent died.
He said as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must the Son of man be lifted up. “All you need to just do is to look up to Him and be saved,” he explained.
“Don’t mock the call to Salvation. No one is saying that you should look up to a man but to look up to Jesus Christ – the Author and Finisher of our Faith.
“Don’t believe those that tell you that all will be well with you even when you are committing sin. You cannot say that you are a child of God and live a life of sin. You cannot continue in sin and ask the Grace of God to abound – God forbid.”

  • Pastor Adeboye insist tithing is essential to make heaven, blasts critics

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye has reacted to social media criticisms over his declaration that non-tithers will not make heaven.

Pastor Adeboye, who spoke on Saturday at the church’s Northern Regional Camp in Jos, Plateau State, reiterated his warning that tithing was a necessary condition to inherit the Kingdom of God, adding that none of the requirementa should be left out.
Pastor Adeboye drew criticism from several celebrities and on-air personalities after he warned about the dangers of ignoring tithing during the April Holy Ghost Service of the Redemption Camp along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, stated that born-again Christians, who do not give to God one-tenth of their income, may not make heaven.
Giving a message on the theme: ‘Stronger than My Enemy’, the ‘Daddy G.O.’ admonished the congregants to ignore those criticisms from those who have been “attacking me on the internet” but who do not know they are also attacking the church.
The man of God quoted from the scripture in Matthew 23:23 where Jesus rebuked the scribes and pharisees for not complying with all the tenets of the Kingdom.
The minister asked the congregation, “They say Pastor Adeboye only talks about tithes, is it only what I preach? Don’t I talk about holiness, healing, prosperity, salvation?”
“Don’t let anybody deceive you because if you meet Jesus on the Last Day, you don’t say I stopped paying tithes because somebody said it is wrong,” he added.
Speaking earlier, the G.O. also made reference to one of his critics, a pastor who used to run one of the biggest churches in Europe, but whose congregation have now dwindled.
While stressing the need for members to avoid mockers, he drew an analogy of madness, which he categorised into three. The first are those, who are already mad and on the streets; second category he said is made up of well-dressed individuals, who might not appear mad but are actually mad, “in Yoruba they are called Were Alaso”; and the third category, he said, are those who stand by to watch the mad dancing.
The two-day programme features ministration for pastors’ children, Workers and Ministers Conference, anointing service and an inter-denominational service.
