I’m not afraid to die, heaven is my home – Pastor Adeboye

…says I don’t want to live up to 120 years old

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (Worldwide), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said he is not afraid of death because he is sure of making heaven.

The revered cleric noted that it was not how long a man lives that matters but how well he impacted people around him.

Adeboye revealed this in Minna, Niger State while delivering a message at the birthday service held at the Justice Idris Legbo Kutigi International Conference Centre in honour of Pastor Yerima El-Samaila of the Faith Foundation Church who turned 70 years on Monday.

He also disclosed that he did not think he would preside over the 80th birthday service of the celebrant.

“It is not how long you live but how well you spend your life, I don’t want to be 120 years old, longevity is good but there is a limit.

“People don’t want to die because they don’t know where they are going, I know where I am going, I have seen heaven, I have seen my house in heaven, I know what is waiting for me there, heaven is beautiful, and I can’t wait to go.

“I want to finish what I have to do here and finish it well, any of us can go at any moment we have to get ready for home.”

He, therefore, challenged Christians to be committed to God more than ever before, saying that: “Many Christians are getting distracted from God”.

Christians should not forget the most important reason why they are here, adding that it was to show God’s glory.

He advised other men of God to ‘stop playing church and become committed to the almighty God and do their utmost so that when they are leaving they can also say they have fulfilled their purpose’.

Adeboye thanked God for the life of the celebrant, his family, his ministry and commitment to God.

“It takes a man like you to bring me to Minna at a time like this and I rejoice that I could come.”

Pastor Adeboye and his wife later joined Pastor El- Samaila in the cutting of the 70th birthday cake which he (Adeboye) presented to the celebrant.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that dignitaries at the event include the Niger State Governor represented by the Commissioner for Information, Mr Jonathan Tsado Vatsa, a former information minister, Professor Jerry Gana and other clergymen from different denominations.

  • JUST IN: Adeboye visits Buhari in London [Photos]

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Friday visited President Muhammadu Buhari at the Abuja House, London.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that President Buhari traveled for medical check-up in London on Sunday, May 7, more than a month he came back into the country from a previous medical vacation.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, posted two photographs taken during Adeboye’s visit on his Facebook page.

In one of the pictures, Buhari and his visitor were seated on a sofa while he was scanning through a book which is suspected to be from the religious leader.

A bag which appeared to have been used to take the book to the President was placed in between Buhari and Adeboye.

In the second picture, the President and his guest were seen in a handshake while standing.

Adesina captioned the photographs with “President Buhari receives General Overseer Worldwide Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye at the Abuja House London on 18th Aug 2017.”

Adeboye visited the President about 24 hours after the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, paid him a similar visit.

It will be recalled that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, had paid a similar visit to the ailing.

Adesina had announced in a statement that the Archbishop visited Buhari, who he described as his friend, at Abuja House, London.

The presidential spokesman quoted Welby as saying during the visit that he was delighted to see the rapid recovery Buhari has made from his health challenges.

The Anglican priest was further quoted as describing the President’s recovery as a testimony to the healing powers of God, and answer to prayers of millions of people around the world.

The statement read, “The cleric pledged to continue praying for both President Buhari and Nigeria.

” In his response, the Nigerian President thanked Archbishop Welby, whom he noted had always stood by him at critical times, and wished him God’s continued grace in his spiritual duty of leading the Anglican Communion worldwide.”

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the ailing Nigerian leader has been receiving guests from Nigeria since he departed the country on May 7.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that on Thursday, Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara also visited the president.

  • Pastor Adeboye touched more lives than Nigerian politicians – Obasanjo

Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has described the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christians Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has a man who have touched more lives in the country more than politicians.

Obasanjo who gave this remark at the book presentation of “Pastor E.A. Adeboye: His Life and Calling” at the Auditorium of the RCCG Youth Centre, along the Lagos/Ibadan expressway on Tuesday, also revealed how Adeboye personally influenced his life.

According to the former President, “as a politician, we are supposed to touch lives, but, for Pastor Adeboye, he has touched more lives than politicians. He has been a man of God with a difference, whom I benefited from personally when I was consulting to contest the 1999 election.”

Obasanjo, said, “I was told not to reveal my coming here by Mummy (Adeboye’s wife). How can I come to you without calling you? But, that was the instruction. Until I am in this hall, I never see anything about this programme. That means we have committed sins by keeping this secret from you and we seek for forgiveness from you and I am sure we have been forgiven.”

On the book, Obasanjo noted that the 40 authors said to have written the book was not enough.

“Because we are still going to write the epilogue of Daddy and when we are going to do that, we are not going to be 40, but millions and I pray that you will be there to witness the epilogue of your live and calling,” Obasanjo said.

Wife of Pastor Adeboye, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye said that the book was completely produced without the knowledge of her husband “because it is part of the year of surprises we are going to be having.”

She acknowledged the role played by the 40 authors in ensuring that the publication is near perfect, “because only God can be perfect,” she said.

Among the top dignitaries present at the occasion is the Acting President, Yemi Osinbanjo, his wife, Dolapo and other top RCCG pastors and members.

  • Adeboye, Oyedepo stress need for Nigerians to praise God continuously

In the face of daunting challenges in Nigeria, General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG) Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and his Winner’s Chapel, counterpart, Bishop David Oyedepo, both stressed the importance of praising God regardless of whatever one is passing through.

Dressed in a green outfit, Adeboye who took the pulpit after songs from the Mass Choir of over a thousand members preached praise, showing why there is no excuse for one not to praise God.

He said among every set of people, there are three subsets, comprising those who have lost battles in life, those still engaged in battles, and those who have won battles recent

The RCCG General Overseer, in his ministration at the occasion, described life as a battle field.

Speaking on the main theme of the convention, “Halleluyah”, on Day Five of the programme, Pastor Adeboye said most human beings do not always praise God when battling life challenges, forgetting past victories that God had bestowed on them.

‘’In any congregation, there are three categories of people, those who have just lost a battle, those who are in the midst of a terrific battle and those who have just won a battle and yet the Bible says everybody should praise Him”, he said.

Similarly, David Oyedepo, founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, stressed the importance of praise.

He listed the power of praise as including the invitation of God’s presence and glory, which provides His favour, healing, access to revelation, breakthrough, and fresh oil.

Oyedepo, addressing the gathering, enjoined the faithful to cultivate the habit of praising God at all times, saying praising God activates God’s wonder, brings down His presence, bring about supernatural breakthrough among others.

Speaking on the topic: ‘’Understanding the wonder of praise”, Oyedepo warned against murmuring among Christians, saying such behaviour only complicates one’s challenges.

The prayer event was ‎witnessed by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, state governors, including Godwin Obaseki of Edo, Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom, Samuel Ortom of Benue, former governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko and other top political office holders, top traditional leaders, and many other dignitaries.

Adeboye, Kumuyi,Oyedepo others ask Christian students to boycott Arabic classes

The General Overseers of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye; The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Bishop Mike Okonkwo; Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo; Deeper Life Church, Pastor WF Kumuyi among others, have ordered Christian students across the country to boycott Arabic Studies amid reports that the subject was made compulsory.

Also present at the meeting were Rev. (Dr.) Mercy Ezekiel, the National Coordinator of Christian Pentecostal Mission (CPM), Pastor Wale Oke and the General Overseer of the Thronegrace Mission, Pastor Emmanuel Nuhu Kure.

The top pastors spoke, recently, after a meeting in Lagos under the auspices of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

They also called for immediate reversal of the revised Basic Education Curriculum, especially the collapse of Christian Religious Studies (CRS) as part of an omnibus subject known as Religion and National Values, and maintained that CRS should stand on its own as a separate subject just as it has always been.

They criticised the move to impose Arabic Studies on every secondary school student in the country, stating that the Federal Government has no right to force any Nigerian student at any level to study Arabic Studies.

They said that the proviso in the revised curriculum that every student must take either French or Arabic Studies compulsorily in a country where French teachers are scarce was an attempt to impose Arabic Studies on Christian students.

Articulating the position of the Fellowship, Omobude, who is also the PFN National President, Oyedepo, Okonkwo and Wale Oke urged Christian students in any part of the country to resist such imposition, stressing that “we are aware of orchestrated plans to subtly use this policy as a means of forceful religious indoctrination and we maintain our stand against it.”

“Government has no right to force subjects on any any Nigerian child neither does it have the authority to drop Christian Religious Studies at the Senior Secondary School level while asking him/her to continue to read Islamic Studies which he/she cannot do at university level,” Oyedepo said, emphasising that by stopping CRS, automatically meant that it would not be embraced at the tertiary institutions.

Citing a case in Kwara State where a Christian female student was allegedly beaten and forced to take Arabic Studies against her wish, Omobude expressed concern at the contention and controversy that have attended the revised Basic Education Curriculum, especially the unnecessary collapse of CRS as part of an omnibus subject known as Religion and National Values.

Video: I came to Lagos as a sinner in 1969 – Pastor Adeboye

Says ‘I am the only person with three post-graduate degrees from the University of Lagos’

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has revealed that he came to Lagos State as a sinner, but got converted and later became the General Oversee of the church.

Adeboye said this in a short documentary, which is part of the build up to the 50th anniversary of Lagos State.

I came to Lagos State to dwell for the first time in 1969. I came in as post-graduate student of Mathematics at University of Lagos, to study for my Masters degree.

Today by the grace of God, I am the only person with three post-graduate degrees from the University of Lagos.

But that’s not all. I came to Lagos as sinner, but I got born again in 1973. It is in here I was ordained a pastor in 1975. It was here I became the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in 1981.

When I became G.O, the entire RCCG was made up of 40 churches. But today, there over a thousand in Lagos alone. God has been very good to me. The atmosphere allows for anyone who wants to practice his religion to do it without any hindrance.”

  • Again! OAP Freeze condemns Adeboye

Controversial OAP, Daddy Freeze has reacted to the statements made by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye of RCCG(Worldwide) when he said: “When God called me into full time ministry, I must tell you the truth, I was afraid because things were rough. I knew poverty when I was young but I became a university teacher with the belief that my days of poverty were gone. When God asked me to leave my job to become a full-time pastor, the total income of the church was less than my salary and we were to share it among some 39 people.”

The outspoken OAP took to his Instagram post to condemn the revered man of God’s statement.

In his words:” What awesome words of wisdom from our dear Daddy G.O. I would see this as a tremendous feat of achievement! When you were a lecturer sir, Nigeria was doing well as a country, producing our own Garri. Today you are richer and your church is richer, while Nigeria is poorer, the majority of your pastors and congregation are still poor and Indians have started producing our Garri! Somebody say hallelu…….y…ah!”

I earned more money as lecturer than RCCG G.O – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, (worldwide) Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has revealed that before he took up the mantle of leadership from the founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, he was richer than the ministry even as a university lecturer.

TheNewsGuru.com reports that Adeboye took over the ministry in 1981 following the demise of Pa Josiah Akindayomi.

The G.O said the church’s total income then was about half of his salary as university lecturer.

The reverred man of God disclosed this while ministering during a three-day special programme to end the church’s 40-day fasting and prayer period at the Redemption Camp.

The G.O maintained that the ministry was not financially buoyant before he came on board.

In his words, “When God called me into full time ministry, I must tell you the truth, I was afraid because things were rough. I knew poverty when I was young but I became a university teacher with the belief that my days of poverty were gone.

When God asked me to leave my job to become a full-time pastor, the total income of the church was less than my salary and we were to share it among some 39 people.

‘’I was really afraid but God gave me one promise. He said do not worry my son, I will be with you. If you are wondering why my case is different, it is because God told me that He will be with me and He has been faithful to His promise.”

TheNewsGuru.com reports that the lecturer turned preacher has helped grown the church he inherited with just few members to a global church with members all over the world.
