How God used a witch to save my life – Pastor Adeboye

General Overseer (Worldwide) of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has disclosed how God used a witch to save his life when he was young.

Adeboye, in a Thanksgiving and Prophetic Declaration Service at the church national headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish in Ebute-Meta, Lagos, narrated that God used the witch to stop him from eating kola nut which would have led to his death.

In a sermon entitled: “God Loves Me” the clergyman attributed his continued survival to God’s faithfulness and love.

According to the former lecturer, “I was telling my children that whenever we wanted to study at night while we were young, we used kola nut as our own coffee as we did not have money to buy coffee. We ate the kola nut to stay awake.

One day, the number one self confessed witch in our compound, called me and said: “Dejare, why won’t you stop eating kola nut?

The witch warned me to desist from what can lead to my death. I think God spoke through the witch and I can say God loves me.

You are alive today not because you are clever, wise or know how to do it but simply because God loves you. There are lots of people who are in the prison who are free. I was at the Kirikiri Prison where I heard testimonies that brought tears to my eyes.

Some of them said they were in prison but they are free men because they have Jesus; they were incarcerated but they are free. And there are people who are outside the prison who are prisoners.

It is because God loves you that you are able to conquer all that the devil threw at you last year. Left for the enemy you, will not be here today but because God loves you, you are more than conqueror.”

  • Exclusive : How Adeboye dropped bombshell of new RCCG structure

…Not just me, Oyedepo, Kumuyi, Okonkwo will also have to retire, Adeboye says

The entire process of how Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) announced his retirement and installed a successor took less than thirty minutes, while stressing that fellow Pastors like Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Kumuyi will also have to go.

In a report by TheNewsGuru’s special correspondent, Adeboye in his prophesies for 2017, released during the new year watch night service, which is an annual ritual of the respected cleric for over two decades, when he usually announce to the world what God told him will happen in the new year, Pastor ADEBOYE had talked about God having surprises for the people.

However, nothing prepared his body of Ministers, whom he had gathered to give thanks to God this Saturday morning, another annual ritual in RCCG, for the surprise they got.

He began by telling the crowd that the federal government of Nigeria under President Buhari has, lately, formed the habit of interfering in the affairs of the Church.

He recounted how the government forced the RCCG to abandoned the robust retirement package for their Pastors, where full time Pastors who retired from the employ of the Church collects their full salary and benefits till death, to adopt a statutory contributory pension scheme which has resulted in Pastors, both those in active service and retirees, earning far less than they should have earned under the old scheme.

He now dwelt on the issue of how Christians are not taking advantage of their numerical strength to determine who becomes a political leader. He explained that the apathetic attitude of Christians has led to a situation where leaders are now imposed on them. His solution: “When you get home, tell every member of the Redeemed Christian Church of God to go and register for a Political Party. I want every member to be a Card carrying member of a political party.”

“You can register for any party of your choice, but by all means, register. If you register, you will have to attend your party meetings at the Ward level. That way you will be part of those to nominate the party delegates who will decide who will run for elections and be our leaders at the national level”.There was a roar of approval of this directive from the audience.

But there was a sharp contrast in the reaction of his ministers to what he has to say next. Tried as he did to downplay the impact and import of what he was to divulge, you could hear a pin drop in the large auditorium, which is three kilometers in length by three kilometers in breadth, reputed to be the largest in the world

“You are going to have a new General Overseer”, he began with that his low, firm, almost angelic voice. The ministers looked sharply at each other, wondering if they heard their revered leader correctly. “Yes! You heard me well”, he continued.

“Part of government interest in Churches is that they have made a law that says General Overseers and Superintendents must not stay in office beyond a certain number of years. In obedience to that law, I am stepping down as the general overseer!”.

This time, the Ministers who initially thought they did not hear him clearly the first time were jolted to a live nightmare. And the whispers and murmurs of protests to this strange news were growing louder all over the auditorium.

But Pastor ADEBOYE was not done yet. “By the provisions of the law, I am not the only one affected. Fellow Pastors like Bishop Oyedepo, Pastor Kumuyi, Bishop Mike Okonkwo and others will also have to go”. By this revelation, most of the Pastors where now praying to God to wake them up and end this nightmare.

Adeboye continued: “So I am going to call on the new general overseer to step out so that you can pray for him. Pastor Obayemi, please step forward. The law also stipulated that every church must have a secretary and a treasurer.

So Pastor Odeyemi, step forward as well. We had a treasurer before only that we have never referred to him as such. Pastor Adeyokunu, please step forward. Three of you, kneel down and let the Church pray for you”.

In less than five minutes, the prayers were over and the three gentlemen were congratulated and asked to go back to their seats.

Welcome Pastor Joseph Obayemi, the new general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Nigeria.

Pastor ADEBOYE was later to explain that he still remain the General Overseer of the Church outside Nigeria and that he will still conduct all the programs that the Church has been. Known for. Whether this will calm the nerves of the millions of the Church members worldwide, only time will tell.

I remain General Overseer of RCCG worldwide – Adeboye

In a swift attempt to calm tensed nerves over Pastor Adeboye’s supposed retirement as General Overseer, G.O of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, the clergyman has announced that he remains the General Overseer, Worldwide of the church.

In a statement signed by his personal assistant, Pastor Leke Adeboye, the clarification is coming on the heels of misrepresentation of Pastor E. A Adeboye’s announcement at the Annual Ministers Thanksgiving held at the redemption camp today that the Church Nigeria is now to be led by Pastor Joseph Obayemi.
The statement clarified that the latest development is sequel to the new legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, guiding all registered churches, mosques, and CSOs.
The regulation stipulates that heads of non profit organisations like churches now have a maximum period of twenty years to lead their organizations while in retirement, they are not permitted to hand over to their families.
Pastor Leke Adeboye reiterated that Pastor Funsho Odesola, will now serve as the new Church Secretary while Pastor Joseph Adeyokunu, is the new Church Treasurer.‎

He advised all members of RCCG to understand this new structure and go about their service to God and humanity in holiness and soul winning.

He also appealed to members to educate people around them and not spread inaccurate information stressing that Pastor E.A Adeboye remains the General Overseer of RCCG Worldwide.

  • [Updated] See new regulation that sent Adeboye, Kumuyi, others out of office as ‘General Overseers’

Some leading church founders in Nigeria maybe on their way out of office as General Overseers with the new legal requirements set up by the Financial Regulations Council, TheNewsGuru.com reports.

This is further confirmed as the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye announced his retirement and named a successor (Pastor Joshua Obayemi) during the RCCG Annual Ministers Thanksgiving service on Saturday (today) .

According to Adeboye who mentioned the regulation said that overseers of churches are now required to spend a certain period as Geneal Overseers.

However, TheNewsGuru.com as at the time of filing this report is yet to ascertain if the regulation disclosed by Adeboye was binding on ministers of RCCG only.

Meanwhile, if the new regulation extends to other churches, that interprets that other founders of registered churches, mosques, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) would also have a specified tenure of office to lead their organisations.

  • ADEBOYE: Fayose’s idiosyncrasy and democracy – Umegboro

ADEBOYE: Fayose’s idiosyncrasy and democracy – Umegboro

    By Carl Umegboro

Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose was recently extolled by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye as an outstanding defender of democracy vis-à-vis his obduracy and the incessant bouts on the federal government’s policies.

The encomium unfortunately attracted unembellished criticisms from All Progressives Congress (APC), Ekiti state chapter describing the clergy’s remarks as biased, jaundiced and rabble-rousing.

Fayose has at any opportunity vehemently stood against all federal government’s actions and vulgarly attacked the president with all manner of names, unfortunately, politics is civilly knotted on policies and issues, and distinct from personal attacks.

Biblically, such attacks on the nation’s leader are profanities, disrespect and superciliousness irrespective of tribal dissimilarities.

President Muhammadu Buhari should logically, expect to fall apart with more prominent personalities due to the state of the economy though inherited blunders, and above all, his parsimony.

On the economy; good or bad, president takes responsibility, while latter is part of the change majority of Nigerians earnestly bid for by endorsing Buhari at the poll.

Incontrovertibly, the nation under recession essentially requires judiciousness as a paradigm shift.

Nonetheless, if the President is dispensing same pattern to both Christian and Muslim spheres, sure, he has populist utmost supports.

Obviously, this is not time for inconsequentialities but serious business.

No visionary clearly captured it that Donald Trump would emerge America’s next president, instead all the trumpets blew; ‘America’s election will be remarkable’.

Looking at it critically, if Hillary Clinton had won; as America’s first woman president; it is unprecedented. On the other hand, as Trump, a businessman conquered the Clinton’s gang-ups; still amazement.

Hence, Trump’s ascension to power was exclusive of peripheral visions but aggregately divine providence, self-determination and masses verdict.

Interestingly, the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN) heads the economic team which its terms of reference largely anchored on the economy in shambles, yet, no such attacks has been extended to Osinbajo; Fayose’s tribesman. Again, all the states governors are supposedly members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) where national policies and issues are deliberated prior to adoption.

Now, the question begging for answers is how many motions has Fayose presented during these meetings on how to move the economy forward to prove his superior acumen against the ‘clueless’ policies.

Instead, Fayose is ever standby to throw up criticisms in the public domain, sadly with no solutions ever proffered; calculatedly for self-relevance.

The FEC meeting objectively affords all stakeholders opportunity to put forward feasible ideas together for the nation.

Thus, any governor that abandons such a forum but resorts to opprobrious open attacks on the government is grossly bereft of ideas, deceitful and suspicious of diversionary tactics.

This is akin to lawmakers that maintain silence at the chambers of the National Assembly but rant so loud outside; hectoring with ideas on good governance to the masses.

Nevertheless, Pastor Adeboye as a citizen has fundamental rights to hold opinions on any issues; however, as a prominent religious leader with access to those in the corridors of power, such submissions ought to be chivalrously dispensed.

With Osinbajo as the second in command, Adeboye has unfettered access to the presidency.

On a second thought, Adeboye’s remarks could possibly be resultant of the heinous attacks Fulani herdsmen severally launched against innocent citizens in the guise of grazing which Fayose resolutely declared fire-for-fire in his state.

If on this scenario, Adeboye’s verdict is sustained; while APC’s despicable riposte; overruled.

Be that as it may, by APC opting for a senior pastor in RCCG as Buhari’s running mate, Adeboye is indirectly part and parcel of Buhari’s administration; thus, will alongside take blames if things get messier.

The political matrimony between Adeboye and APC government on account of Osinbajo’s active involvement in the government cannot be overemphasized.

Thus, the finest Adeboye can reciprocatively offer the nation is fast uncommonly, pray fervently and give advises where necessary for the success of this administration.

The singular act of opting for one of his much loved pastors as second in command is indicative that the party had reverence for the clergy and will willingly imbibe his indulgence.

As for Fayose’s patriotism, it’s imperative to note that Fayose’s counsel in the EFCC-Fayose’s account saga, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) never challenged the actions of the anti-graft agency on ground of blamelessness or guilt, but clearly, on account that Fayose alongside all state governors, deputy governors, vice president and president are impliedly licensed to commit all crimes including diversion and looting of public funds without prosecution while in office as provided by section 308 of the 1999 Constitution, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

All the judicial interventions were strictly based on points of law and distinct from justifiability or rightness. Good governance is about service-delivery and dividends of democracy.

What will ultimately determine Fayose’s fate either as an asset or liability is how he adds values beyond his predecessor.

A governor is elected to manage his state’s economy and not for activism, cantankerousness or political accolades.

Advisably, Fayose should concentrate on governance and leave political mêlées for political parties to avoid dividing his concentration further; for meaningful impact through infrastructural development and economic empowerment as in some states.

To prioritize and maintain tetchiness, boisterous doses on the national government is deceptive, diversionary, parochial, and ultimately, catastrophic for Ekiti people.

  • Ekiti PDP fires back at APC over attack on Pastor Adeboye

Ekiti PDP fires back at APC over attack on Pastor Adeboye

In a swift reaction to a statement credited to the state chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Mr. Jide Awe, condemning the person and image of the General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Adeboye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has slammed the leadership of the APC saying the statement is a demonstration of devilish mindset of the party.

Recall that Awe had in a statement credited to him lambasted Pastor Adeboye for commending Governor Fayose while alleging that he may have been bribed by the governor to earn such commendation from him.

The PDP noted that Pastor Adeboye commending the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, for the governor’s courage and willingness to defend his people and the cause of the common man in the country was a statement of fact.

Spokesperson of the PDP in the State, Mr Jackson Adebayo, in a statement on Monday, said; “it is the height of crude politics for the APC to insinuate that a man of God of Pastor Adeboye’s standing took bribe to commend Governor Fayose for what is obvious.

He said; “Pastor Adeboye is a respected man of God. He is not a politician. He only said what he saw about Governor Fayose and the only Nigerians, who won’t want to accept the fact that the governor has stoutly defended Ekiti people and the common people of Nigeria, are those in the APC.”

Mr Adebayo, who described the rebuttal, issued late on Sunday, by the APC Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatunbosun as an afterthought, added that; “The APC in Ekiti State has strong history of political intolerance such that anyone that is not with them must be condemned at all cost.

  • Those saying Pastor Adeboye collected bribe from Fayose are scum – Fani Kayode

Former Aviation minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has lambasted critics who said the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, collected bribe from Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.

This is coming after the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State frowned at the comment made by Pastor Adeboye, commending Governor Fayose.

Adeboye had admonished state governors in the country to emulate their Ekiti State counterpart after he commended the governor’s courage and willingness to defend his people and the cause of the common man in the country.

But the state’s APC, in its reaction, said it was alarmed that a cleric of Pastor Adebayo’s standing could praise Governor Fayose for his persistent insults and abuses on President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that Pastor Adeboye should be seen as speaking for himself and his comment must not be seen as representing that of the entire members of the RCCG.

Reacting, however, FFK took to his Twitter handle @realFFK to say: “Those who accused pastor Adeboye of collecting bribe from Governor Fayose simply because he commended the governor’s courage, are scum.”
