Politicians jostling about 2023 eyeing uncertain future – Adeboye

General Overseer (Worldwide) of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Enoch Adeboye, on Sunday stated that politicians who were already hustling for political positions ahead of the 2023 general elections were eyeing uncertain future.

Adeboye, while wondering why politicians had started making preparations, said that no one should be sure about the future, stressing that the future belonged to God.

He spoke during the church’s monthly first Sunday telecast monitored by our correspondent.

Speaking on the topic ‘The great expectations’ Adeboye said expectations varied from individuals and situations.

He said for a student, the expectation would be to graduate, adding that for a pregnant woman, it would be safe delivery.

According to Adeboye, it is unsafe for anyone to say his ambition is to become president, when the individual is unsure about tomorrow or the existence of the country.

He said, “This is 2021; some people are already getting ready to kill themselves over 2023. They don’t even know whether there will be 2023. They don’t even know whether they will still be around.

“There is nobody here who can say for sure that he will still be around by tomorrow, nobody. It is God who determines who will still be around by 2023.”

“Someone said to me, ‘sir, who do you think will be president in 2023?’ I said, ‘president of where?’ He said, ‘president of Nigeria’. How are you sure there will be Nigeria in 2023? How are you sure? Can you swear? I pray there will be; so you don’t misquote me but, are you sure?”

While commenting on his expectation, the preacher said it was to see his members in great number in heaven.

He said, “My greatest expectation is that I will see you in heaven. The members of Redeemed will occupy a particular section that the angel will say, you tried. Without holiness there is no heaven; which heaven are you going to?”

The preacher stressed that having lost a family member, he had a clearer picture of what it was to mourn.

  • How Ikoyi building collapse, other avoidable disasters expose level of corruption, greed in Nigeria – Adeboye

How Ikoyi building collapse, other avoidable disasters expose level of corruption, greed in Nigeria – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye has said some avoidable disasters happening in the country is a pointer to the level of greed and corruption.

The respected cleric explained that Nigeria will attain greater heights when the government stops selective punishment for corrupt officials and jail those found to have corrupted their positions, irrespective of their status in the society.

He advised the government also needs to take back the loot such officials stole and confiscate their property to serve as a deterrent to others.

The General Overseer spoke on Sunday during the month-end thanksgiving service with the theme: Great Expectations, at the RCCG headquarters’ Throne of Grace in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

The cleric, who spoke through the Assistant General Overseer (Admin and Personnel), who doubles as the Continental Overseer for the Middle East, decried the level of corruption in the country due to greed.

“Corrupt Nigerians have made the country to look like a rotten sepulcher but decorated outside. Many evils, including the recent collapsed building (in Ikoyi, Lagos State), which claimed many lives, only exposed the level of corruption and greed in the country. Those involved in the building knew what to do, but because of the love of money deliberately did not. What a grave consequence of their inaction!” he said.

Adeboye also frowned at lawmakers who legislate on education and health but delight in sending their children abroad while they too take delight in medical tourism overseas.

The eminent cleric noted that such public officials do not believe in what they are doing or have an ulterior motive.

He decried the high-level hypocrisy among government officials who refuse to obey the policies they make.

Meanwhile, he also prayed for landlords, land owners, tenants and others, saying God is always ready to turn things around whenever people seek His grace and prepare to do what is right.

I’ll chew you raw if you speak negatively about Oyedepo – Ibiyeomie

Founder, Salvation Ministries, Port Harcourt, Pastor David Ibiyeomie has said he would chew anyone raw who speak negatively about Bishop David Oyedepo.

Ibiyeomie said Oyedepo and other top men of God are to be honoured and not to be disrespected or spoken evil against.

“You must honour them in your heart. It is more of connectivity than proximity. You can be close to somebody does not mean you honour him. There are people who honour me who have never met me and there are those who are very close to me that don’t honour me.

“That you are close to somebody does not mean you honour the person. Honour has nothing to do with proximity. It has to do with connectivity. It is heart to heart. I have never gone physically before Oyedepo to do eye service.

“I have never knelt down to greet him. I am not from there. That is their culture. Here, when we respect someone, it is from inside. You can lie down there in hypocrisy and after the person is gone, you stand up and say, “Oloshi ni e* (He is unfortunate person),” he said.

Ibiyeomie stated that honour is not how one knelt down, but a heart issue and that it is more of the heart than physical display.

“You can lie down on the ground and have no honour. I’ve seen people who said they will die with Oyedepo and still turn around to abuse him. I honour him to a point that you can’t talk about him negatively where I am.
“You are not born to talk about him. I will chew you raw. Our heart is the part that connect us to the flow of prophetic blessings,” he added.

Ibiyeomie also said there was no way he could compare himself to Oyedepo as he is far bigger and that there was no way Oyedepo could could compare himself with Pastor Enoch Adeboye as he is bigger in anointing.

“Preachers, there are preachers. Shoes get size. It will be stupid for me to think I am mate with Oyedepo or Oyedepo should think he is mate with Adeboye. Shoe get size. Everybody knows his size. Don’t just wag your tongue about people that are not your mate.

“I don’t even talk about Oyedepo in secret. I don’t even discuss him. I don’t want to know. He is a man of God. If you say you have seen fault, it is your own business,” he stated.

Nigeria’s high debt servicing figure worrisome- Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has described as worrying Nigeria’s current economic woes.

Adeboye said he was shocked when he learned that debt servicing alone gulps a high percentage of the nation’s income.

He said this yesterday at the Special Thanksgiving and Prayer for President Muhammadu Buhari, governors, lawmakers, royal fathers, and their families held at the RCCG national headquarters, Throne of Grace in Ebute-Metta, Lagos.

The thanksgiving was monitored live by RCCG members in their parishes.

Adeboye also spoke on COVID-19 , describing it as a noisome pestilence.

His words: “ If we have a problem in our nation, it has to do with economics. When l asked those who understand the language and how much we need to service our debt, they said that it is the interest you pay so that they will know you are alive.

“What is needed to pay and keep our debt breathing is about 98 percent of the nation’s income. We have problems and we are still borrowing a little bit more.”.

Adeboye however, assured that when God is involved in the affairs of a nation, he can turn the tide of its economy for good.

He also expressed concern over terrorism, killings, and kidnappings in the country, saying it is regrettable that such abominable acts were daily desecrating the land.

The priest made reference to how traditional rulers were in the past accorded high regards in the country, especially in the Southwest, unlike now that they have also become soft targets of kidnappers.

Adeboye, however, said that solution was underway as Nigeria would be another testimony to the world, His words: “God will give Nigeria rest. When God is involved, he can turn a failure into an overnight success…

“If God gets involved in the affairs of a nation, he will put an end to terrorism…When God gets involved in our nation, he can turn the tide of the economy. Whether we believe it or not, Nigeria will survive.

“Whether we believe it or not he (God) can solve a national crisis overnight. Very soon this country will be another testimony to the world. I believe it will be well with us.”

The preacher led the congregation in sessions of prayer for the national and traditional leaders, asking that God grants them wisdom to rule rightly.

He also said that God would promote, settle and protect the congregants.

  • If we unite, God will do something great for Nigeria – Adeboye

If we unite, God will do something great for Nigeria – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye on Sunday stated that Nigeria will attain greater heights as a nation if the people are united.

He cited examples in the Holy Bible wherein God acknowledged that when people unite they can achieve unbelievable goals.

Adeboye who made the remarks while preaching during Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary Church Service/Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) 45th-anniversary service told the story of how the people of Shinar united to build a tower to reach the heavens.

Gen 11:4 “And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose the top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.”

“In Gen 11:6 God himself said these people are united and there is nothing they want to do that they will not do. Brethren if we are united, we can build a mighty nation…I am convinced that if we are united, God will do something special not only for CAN but also for Nigeria.

Gen. 11.4 “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined doing.”

He furthered: “I am going to ask you to do something today, I will give you two minutes to praise God for what he has done for you, I will also ask that we should be united and praise God together; I am convinced that if we do, God will do something special not only for CAN but also for Nigeria.

“However, if you do not have a relationship with Jesus Christ, the first thing you need to do is to surrender your life to Him for salvation; after which your prayers will become acceptable be to him.” He noted.

After calling for special joint prayers on the progress of individuals, families, church, and Nigeria, Adeboye urged the participants to shout three powerful Halleluyah in the affirmation that God will shock those who feel the country has finished and turn around Nigeria’s loss for bigger gains.

Meanwhile, the CAN’s 45th anniversary was well attended by eminent Nigerians like Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Gida Mustapha; Representative of the Senate President, Rochas Okorocha; Hon.
