From Maiduguri in North-East Nigeria to Mbaise in the South-East; and from Kafanchan in the North-West to Kajola in the South-West, the killings and kidnappings rise, almost unprecedented.

Terrorism will soon be forgotten in Nigeria – Adeboye

General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye on Friday night said terrorism would soon be a thing of the past in Nigeria.

Speaking at the February edition of the Holy Ghost Service, Adeboye said apart from Nigeria, all other nations of the world would soon be free from terrorism.

According to him, any form of crisis that has a beginning must surly come to an end.

”In Job 1:6-13, the beginning of the crisis in the life of Job started. In Job 42:10, God turned the captivity of Job and returned to him double.

“I don’t know the kind of crisis you have, in the Name that is above every other name every crisis in your life will end tonight.

“This gives me hope for my nation Nigeria because terrorism has a beginning, it will come to an end. 1 Samuel 17:1-51, the Bible tells us that Goliath terrorised the Nation of Israel for forty days but one day the terror that started with one man ended when the man lost his head,” Adeboye stated.

Adeboye added: “I can say with all confidence that sooner than later, terrorism will be forgotten in Nigeria. In all other nations of the world where there are terrorist, l want you to have hope, it had a beginning, it will end.

“2 Kings 6:1-33, 7:1-20 tells us that no matter how long a siege may last, it will have an end. In the Name that is above every other name, every evil force that is laying a siege in your family will be put to an end tonight. Every force that won’t let you move forward shall be defeated. Every force laying a siege in our nation shall be disappointed.”

  • 40 years later, Pastor Adeboye confesses: I said ‘God forbid’ when RCCG founder told me I’ll be General Overseer

40 years later, Pastor Adeboye confesses: I said ‘God forbid’ when RCCG founder told me I’ll be General Overseer

General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, is a definition of grace which has sustained him for 78 years as a human and 40 years as a pastor.

As the respected cleric celebrated his 40th anniversary as head of one of the biggest churches in the world on Thursday, January 21, he recalled some old memories.

In a video interview, Adeboye admitted that when he was told he would become the General Overseer by the late founder of RCCG, Reverend (Pa) Josiah Akindayomi, he said ‘God forbid.’

He explained: “I prefer the quiet life and I still prefer the quiet life. The quiet life as far as I am concerned is the sweetest and I knew then that becoming the general overseer will expose me a lot. If you like a quiet life, you don’t want to head an international organisation and my father in the Lord told me clearly that I would travel all over the world. I told him I was willing to serve as a pastor under a General Overseer and I will do my best but apparently what is written is written. So here we are.”

According to him, the first years as a young GO were full of challenges from senior pastors who were there before he became born again and probably saw me as an upstart.

“The church was started in 1953, I joined the church in 1973. Many of these pastors were my teachers, workers in training and baptismal classes. So just coming from nowhere and being catapulted above them all, one could understand that it was not too pleasant. Initially, the cooperation was not too robust,” he explained.

“The initial mistake I made as GO maybe was that I trusted too much. It took me some time to learn that only God could be trusted and that led to some mistakes. I would ask somebody to go do something, go to sleep believing the thing was done. Only to wake up and discover that the person had not moved. The only friend you can trust 100 per cent is God.”

Born in Osun State to very humble parents, Adeboye completed his first degree at the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics in 1967. The same year, he married Foluke Adenike and they are blessed with four children – Adeolu, Bolu, Dare and Leke.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Thursday, clocked 40 years as the church head.

Adeboye who was ordained a pastor of the church in 1977, became general overseer in 1981.

He succeeded the late Papa Akindayomi as a young university lecturer.

He was formerly a mathematics professor at the University of Lagos.

He started working with the founder of RCCG by translating his sermons from Yoruba to the English language.

Celebrating him, his son Leke Adeboye shared a photo on Instagram with the inscription “Celebrating 40 years at the top”.

Meanwhile, members and non-members of the church have flocked the respected preacher’s social media pages to congratulate him on the milestone.

Despite becoming the church’s leader at a time it was not well known, Adeboye, 78, has expanded it to about 200 countries, including more than 14 million branches in Nigeria.

2021 is a year of rejoicing, good news – Adeboye

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye has predicted good tidings for Nigerians and residents of Lagos State in particular in the year 2021.

Adeboye made the declaration on Sunday at the 2021 Hybrid Edition of the Lagos State Annual Thanksgiving Service, held at Lagos House Ground, Ikeja.

It had its theme as: “In Everything Give Thanks´´, taken from the Holy Bible, Psalms 50: 23.

The event, which was organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs, was attended by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Dr Femi Hamzat , Deputy Governor of Lagos State; government functionaries, religious leaders and other guests.

Reading from Psalm 67 Verse 3-7, the General Overseer who joined the Thanksgiving Service virtually, prayed for the leaders, followers, young and the old.

He prayed that everything they touched in year 2021 should prosper and there would be good news.

“I pray a year like 2020 will never come our way again. And year 2021 will be better, a year of rejoicing, of good news.

“2021 will attract miracles, signs and wonder. It will be far more successful than year 2020.

“I pray as you have praised God this year, He will bless you all. I decree in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, everything you touch this year shall prosper.

“There will be no famine and fruitless efforts. God will bless you fearfully. Bless you with signs and wonder.

“He will fill your mouth with laughter. A year of singing, dancing, rejoicing for all of you. It shall be a year of good news,´´ Adeboye prayed.

Earlier, Pastor Johnson Kalejaiye, who had physically represented Adeboye, preached on the theme of the event and urged all to always be thankful to God.

According to Kalejaiye, giving thanks to God is spiritually mandatory with corresponding rewards.

“Thanksgiving provokes divine multiplication, thanksgiving can open door of recognition, thanksgiving can provoke answered prayers,´´ he said.
