Tell the world if you met Buhari or someone else in Aso Rock, Nnamdi Kanu tackles Adeboye

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has made claims about Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s refusal to speak with the press after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday.

Recall Pastor Adeboye met with President Buhari behind closed-door on Monday.

And after the meeting, the revered Christian leader shunned the eagerly awaiting State House correspondents as he made his way out of the Presidential Villa.

Although details of the meeting have not been made available to the press till this moment, there are indications it was in connection to the controversial Companies and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, which the President signed into law on August 7, 2020.

But Kanu is claiming that what the Pastor saw in Aso Rock his mouth could not speak.

“The General Overseer of The Redeemed Christian Church Of God Pastor E.A Adeboye declined to speak with state house correspondents after his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday,” he wrote on Facebook.

“I challenge Adeboye to tell the world if he met the old brutal dictator Buhari or somebody that looks like him,” he claimed.

Pastor Adeboye, ECWA President kick against CAMA

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, and President of Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, Rev. Stephen Panya Baba, have outrightly condemned the Companies and Allied Matters Act signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari on August 7.

Section 839 of the Companies and Allied Matters Act which gives a provision for religious bodies, non-governmental organizations and charity organisations to be regulated by the registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, and a supervising minister.

The umbrella body of Christians in Nigeria had warned that the execution of the law as it presently constituted is an invitation to trouble that the government does not have the power to manage. As the fireworks between the Federal Government which has vowed to implement the Company and Allied Matters Act, CAMA, 2020 and religious organisations and human rights organisations which have described the Section 839 of the Act as “an anti-Christ law from the pit of hell”, continue the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG yesterday articulated its stand.

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye in his response, told Vanguard that his position is not diametrically different from the stands of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN.

The Head of Media and Public Relations, Pastor Olaitan Olubiyi said: “The stand of the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the leadership of the church on issues like this is not always different from whatever the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN. “We always align ourselves with whatever the stand of the leadership of CAN and PFN on issues like this. The Redeemed Christian Church of God does not take any decision that is at variance with the stand of CAN and PFN and the same thing applies concerning this very issue.

“Daddy will not take a stand different from the ones of the two organisations, CAN and PFN. CAN and PFN have spoken on the issue of CAMA and as far as the Redeemed Christian Church of God is concerned that is our position too. We are in alignment with that stand,” the RCCG spokesman said.

ECWA President, Rev. Stephen Panya Baba expressed irritation over President Muhammadu Buhari recent ascension into law of the CAMA, pledging that ECWA will endorse whatever CAN leadership decides to adopt to revert the obnoxious enactment.

“We are not happy and we urge the Federal Government to do the needful to revert this obnoxious law which is totally unacceptable,” he said, commending the prompt action of CAN leadership in condemning the law which has variously been condemned by several church organizations and human rights groups”.

Expressing surprise at the silence of Christian members of the National Assembly over the enactment of the controversial aspects of the law, the ECWA president urged Christian leaders to engage such members before passing any guilt verdict on them, suggesting that several things in the process of making laws in the country.

“We are not in a position now to know what really happened during their deliberations, because I am aware that CAN made the position of the nation’s Christians known during the public hearing in the National Assembly. “I will, therefore, advise our leaders to engage Christian members of the National Assembly to ascertain what truly happened during the Parliament’s deliberations. Nevertheless, I can assure you that whatever CAN leadership decises to employ to revert this very obnoxious piece of legislation we are behind it,” Rev. Baba stated.

Pastor Adeboye: ‘Online service not an excuse to avoid physical service’

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has called on all members of the church to begin attending service on Sunday following the decision of the Lagos and Ogun state governments to lift the restriction on worship centres.

Adeboye said although some services will continue to hold online, congregants must be physically present in church as it attracts more blessings.

The cleric said this in a video message on Tuesday titled, ‘From Lockdown to Leaping Up’.

He said people should not be deceived into thinking that attending service at home had become a permanent thing.

Adeboye said, “I want to encourage you that all the churches go back for fellowship and begin to enjoy the benefits of corporate prayers again. You know, the Almighty God in Hebrews Chapter 10 verse 25 that we should not forsake the assembly of one another.

“There are those who will talk to you and say ‘why don’t you continue to stay at home? After all, you can pray at home and God will hear you’. Yes, I agree. Anywhere you cry unto Him, He will answer. But He says specifically in Matthew Chapter 21 Verse 13 that His house is called the House of Prayers.

“In other words, He himself designated the House of God as a place where you will pray and the answer will come fast. That is the reason why you find David saying in Psalm 122 Verse 1 that I was glad when they said unto me, let us go to the house of the Lord because He knows that when you go to the house of the Lord, you will be in his presence where there is fullness of joy.”

The cleric said since some countries had yet to lift lockdowns, the online service would continue but would hold at 2pm.

“By the Grace of God, from 2pm every Sunday for the next few weeks, we will still be ministering to our people all over the world who might be on lockdown. That should not be used as an excuse for not going to church. The bible says if you know these things, blessed are you if you do them,” Adeboye added.

He advised congregants to observe all protocols relating to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adeboye asked them to come wearing masks while they would be given hand sanitisers before entering the church.

The RCCG general overseer also announced that the Holy Ghost Service which holds every first Friday of the month would commence in September.

“I also want to add that because the lockdown has been lifted, the Holy Ghost Service of September will be taking place. God bless you,” he said.

My friends left me for serving non-alcoholic drinks-Adeboye

Enoch Adeboye, general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has narrated how his friends dumped him after he served them non-alcoholic drinks.

The revered Pastor had earlier caused a stir after advocating women-men submissiveness in marriage. He had said that Foluke, his preacher wife, still cooks for him even in the midst of her busy schedules.

On Tuesday the clergyman took to his Twitter page to share a photo of himself with David Oyedepo, founder of the Living Faith Worldwide, while speaking on friendships and alcohol consumption.

Adeboye also recounted how he lost his close friends after giving up alcohol consumption.

“Before I became born again, I had friends with whom I drank alcoholic wines. Then, I met Christ and my lifestyle changed. When my friends visited, I served them non-alcoholic drinks.

“And before long, they realized that things were different, and withdrew from me. It was painful to lose my friends then, but I let them go because I didn’t want them to drag me back to the world.

“Today, God has replaced those friends with a lot of brothers and sisters all over the world. I have made new friends who have helped me in my walk with God.

“It’s this kind of friend you should have, friends who’ll draw you to God, challenge you to pursue your dreams, pray with you when you are down, and whose positive impact will be evident to all.

“I must warn you that such friends are not many, but even if it is only one of such you can find, he/she is better than a hundred others who would pull you down.”
