    Nigerian singer-songwriter Adekunle Gold recently shared a heartfelt reflection on his third studio album, “Afro Pop Vol. 1”, which marked a significant turning point in his career.

    Released five years ago, the album was a bold declaration of artistic freedom, showcasing Gold’s versatility and experimentation with Afropop, R&B, and other genres.

    In his words, “This album was my leap of faith. 5 years ago, I chose freedom because I knew I was bigger than the labels around me. That decision changed everything. Fear became courage, and doors I never imagined started to open. 

    “I’m forever grateful for what this album did for me and for everyone who embraced it. Nothing has been the same since then.”

    Adekunle Gold, Afrobeat singer, has caused a stir on social media after rewarding multiple students who graduated with first-class honors from various universities with a generous sum of N250,000.

    The initiative began when Adekunle Gold invited students to share their transcripts on X (formerly Twitter), asking those who graduated with first-class honors to post their results.

    The response was overwhelming, with many students sharing their achievements.

    The singer then went on to credit over seven students with funds. His actions have since sparked a series of reactions, with many praising the gesture on social media.

    One user wrote: “See the way education is nice nahh .. Peller should learn from him .. instead of encouraging something he doesn’t have , he tried to shame it.”

    Another user, remarked: “Omoh nothing dey ever happen for this ig ooooo😂😂 Shey I no go relocate go twitter like this maybe I go see giveaway chop for there.”

    Singer Adekunle Gold marks World Sickle Cell Day with free healthcare services

    Nigerian recording artist, Adekunle Gold in commemoration of the 2025 World Sickle Cell Day, launched a free health insurance initiative for 1,000 individuals living with sickle cell disease.

    The singer unveiled the project, called 5 Star Care on Thursday, in partnership with the Lagos State Ministry of Health, the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA), and the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria.

    Announcing the initiatiive, Adekunle Gold via his Instagram page, shared a video, captioning the post: “Today is World Sickle Cell Day.And today, I’m proud to announce something that’s deeply personal to me.

    “5 Star Care isn’t just an initiative, it’s a promise. A promise to make sure that sickle cell warriors are seen, heard, and cared for. We’re starting small by providing free health insurance to 1,000 people living with sickle cell in Lagos State. But this is only the beginning.”

    The health insurance scheme covers routine care, emergency treatment, and specialist consultations, providing beneficiaries access to comprehensive healthcare services through LASHMA’s platform.

    Speaking further about the motivation behind the project, the 37-year-old, who has publicly shared his personal experience with sickle cell, said:

    “5 Star Care isn’t just an initiative, it’s a promise. A promise to stand by our warriors, to fight alongside them, and to ensure they have access to the care and support they need.”

    “We’re starting small by providing free health insurance to 1,000 people living with sickle cell in Lagos State. But this is only the beginning. Our goal is to reach as many warriors as possible, across the country and beyond.”

    Adekunle Gold joins force with White house, to co-produce Yoruba music documentary

    Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold  is set to co-produce a documentary titled ‘The Odyssey’ in celebration of Yoruba music.

    TheNewsGuru reports that White House Productions in a statement on Wednesday said that the documentary will feature interviews with prominent Yoruba music artistes, promoters and band members.

    The project traces the Yoruba history from its rise in the 1930s to its current global prominence within the Afrobeats movement.

    The statement also noted that the project is aimed at showcasing Yoruba music in a way that appeals to both local and international audiences while preserving its cultural significance.

    “The documentary will present Yoruba music through its key people, moments, and genres, like Sakara, Apala, Ajiwere, Fuji, Juju, Highlife, Afrobeats and more,” it reads in part.

    “ODYSSEY will organise Yoruba music’s chronological history through two time periods, pre- and post-colonial, and explore the influences religion, particularly Christianity and Islam, have had on the evolution of Yoruba music.

    “Through insightful interviews with key intellectuals, influencers, promoters, band members, and artistes, the documentary will narrate entertaining stories that bring the force of Yoruba music to life for a global audience.

    “ODYSSEY aims to provide an artistic presentation of Yoruba music that resonates with local and international audiences in both critical and mainstream circuits, ultimately becoming a marker in time that celebrates Yoruba music and culture while charting new paths for its growth and relevance for future generations.”

    Nigerian singers, Adekunle Gold and Simi, have taken to social media to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary.

    The couple on Monday, January 13th took to their individual Instagram pages to share photos and videos of their journey as a family

     Simi in her post, showered praises on her husband, describing him as “the best man I know”.

    “6 years. You still make me laugh. You’re still the best man I know. You’re still the one. Happy Anniversary Baby. I love you,” she wrote.

    Adekunle Gold on his part, described Simi as his greatest blessing and source of peace. He also revealed that he cherished the memories they have shared while looking forward to creating more.

    He wrote: “6 years don waka, we still dey carry go! You’ve been my greatest blessing, my partner in everything, my peace, and my joy.

    Popular Nigerian singer,, Adekunle Kosoko, fondly called Adekunle Gold, has opened up about his struggle as supporter of Manchester United Football Club.

    Adekunle gold revealed that all other aspects of his life are thriving except being a fan of the struggling Premier League club.

    According to the singer, Manchester United are the only problem he has.

    Gold stated this in a video message shared by his wife, singer Simi on social media.

    “Everything in my life is going well, flourishing and thriving except Manchester United. They are the only problem I have in my life,” he said.

    Nigerian singer, Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold has urged men to redefine masculinity by holding each other accountable.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the singer spoke admonished men to stand up to men who oppress and demean women in the wake of the murder a female student of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Christiana Idowu.

    TNG reported that hat the Idowu, was abducted by Ayomide, her boyfriend, who demanded a sum of three million Naira as a ransom before they could release her.

    According to a family source, Christiana had left her home to the University of Lagos in Yaba area, where she was observing her industrial training when the kidnappers abducted her.

    The source disclosed further that the abductors had reached out to the family, after she was unreachable for a while, demanding a ransom of three million before she could be released.

    The source added that after several appeals from the family, the abductors agreed that a sum of N350,000 be paid to a certain account, which the family paid, but the abductors refused to release her despite the payment.

    Reports say intelligence operatives tracked the abductor to his parents house in Ikorodu through the BVN and account details used in collecting the ransom.

    Calling for JusticeforChristianah, Adekunle Gold, via the micro-blogging platform X  formerly known Twitter noted that true strength lies not in staying quiet but actually about standing up to your friends who abuse, rape or demean women.

    He wrote: “Men, true strength is not about staying silent but about standing up to your friends who abuse, rape, or demean women. Let’s redefine masculinity by holding each other accountable.

    Nigerian singer, Adekunle Gold, has gone down memory lane remembering how he was attacked and abused for publicly speaking about his struggle with sickle cell disease.

    TheNewsGuru.com (TNG) reports that the ‘Orente’ crooner, during a recent interview with CNN, said he decided to create awareness about sickle cell disease after summoning the courage to speak.

    The singer, who noted that he has been aware of his ailment since he was a child, said he’s on a mission to make people living with sickle cell feel safe and feel they have support.

    He said, “I want people living with sickle cell to feel safe, to feel like they have help and support.

    “They call you a sickler… Recently, when I talked about it [my struggle with sickle cell] on the song [‘5-star’], I saw a lot of tweets from people attacking and abusing me.

    “I’m speaking about sickle cell disease now because I just got the courage to come out and speak up openly about it. A lot of people can’t share their stories like I can.

    “I’ve known about my sickle cell disease all my life. I knew since I was a child that I couldn’t do certain things. They said, ‘You know you have sickle cell, you can’t play football in the rain just like your peers.’ And I was like, ‘No, I want to play.’ I’ve always been rebellious.

    “I’ve known about my sickle cell disease all my life because growing up, I had crises every time. I was in the hospital back-to-back.

    “As a child, I constantly put myself in situations that made me sick. And it affected me a lot. For example, I’m not supposed to be in the rain, so what happened to me was that I would have pains in my joints from being in the rain. But I always knew that I didn’t want this thing [sickle cell] to define me.”

    Popular Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, fondly called Simi, has revealed that her husband, Adekunle Gold, gave her the idea for her controversial song, ‘Men Are Crazy’.

    Recall Simi’s latest song, ‘Men Are Crazy,’ which featured Tiwa Savage, was received with mixed feelings, with many male social media users berating the singers over the condescending tone of the song.

    Speaking on Angela Yee’s podcast, ‘Way Up,’ Simi stated that her husband, singer Adekunle Gold, gave her the idea for the song.

    “My husband gave me the idea for my song, ‘Men Are Crazy’. He was like, ‘Babe, how about we do a song and you say men are crazy but I still want one in my bed?’

    “I was like, ‘Oh yeah, no one is going to see that coming from me. So I made that song. I had actually finished the song, I did two verses but I felt something was missing. It just hit me and I was like, ‘I will love to have Tiwa on the song.’ We [our music] don’t generally go in the same direction but I was like, it would be so nice to find that balance and do something that would bring our synergies together. So I sent it to Tiwa and she did her verse and we shot the video together.”

    The artiste revealed that he was diagnosed with sickle cell at birth.

    He paid tribute to sickle cell survivors during his latest stage performance.

    Gold expressed gratitude to God for a successful career and global recognition without significant health setbacks.

    He encouraged those with similar health challenges to remain resilient and determined in pursuing their life goals.

    The singer, however, dedicated his performance of the song “5 Star” to sickle cell survivors.
