    For everyone who attended the Spice Lifestyle Honours held at Eko Convention Centre, Lagos on Wednesday, there was a general agreement that it was worth the time and investment.

    The concert and award night kicked off with a splendid performance from Falana, the multi-talented Nigerian-Canadian singer and song writer.

    Thereafter, Tenientertainer mounted the stage filled with gusto, but had to return back stage as Falana continued her performance despite Teni’s entry.

    Later on, an excited Teni performed songs like ‘Fargin’, ‘Case’ as the crowd cheered her on.

     

    Talented rapper, Vector made a surprise guest appearance at the event, he went beyond rapping to delivering a unexpected poem at the event.

     

    The rave of the moment, Adekunle Gold changed the tempo of the night as he got the audience dancing to some of his well rendered songs like ‘Damn Delilah’, ‘Call on me’ and ‘Ire’.

     

     

    When Asa mounted the stage with her smile and glasses at about 1am, it was as if an angel had arrived.

    The Jailer crooner took the audience on a journey through her music. If you ask anyone how Asa’s performance went last night, be sure to get an affirmative review.

    Nigeria’s top stars oozed glamour on Wednesday as they hit the Spice Lifestyle Honours black carpet under calm skies in plenty of style.
    The event paid homage to African fashion icons and brands while honouring the best within the fashion and lifestyle space on the continent.
    Some of the designers who showcased their work on the runway were Lanre Da Silva, Deola Sagoe, Odio Mimonet, Ohimai Atafo, Gavin Rajah and David Tlale.
    Adekunle Gold , Bez , Falana Music, Tenientertainer and other artistes also added spice to the event.

  • I’m worried, anxious— Adekunle Gold reveals

    Nigerian Afro-fusion artiste, Adekunle Gold who is planning a three -night concert says he is worried and anxious as the nights draw closer.
    The Orente sensation who will be hosting his fans at the popular iconic cultural centre in Lagos from December 13 to 15 noted that it has not been easy putting together three shows in three nights, but affirmed that “I feel like I am where I was made for”.
    In a message to his fans ,Gold revealed how he was recently challenged by the performance of Cassper Nyovest at the Global Citizen Festival in South Africa.
    He said: “I spent 12hrs in a South African stadium watching South Africans cheer everyone on. I loved every single performance but Jesus, Cassper took me by surprise.
    “This guy had just sold out the stadium the day before and could still command that audience and that reception like they had never seen him before.
    “No lie, I’m still shook. Totally inspirational. Phenomenal would be an understatement.
    “I remember thinking, “Lord, I want that” and I also remembered “I have that” I don’t take for granted a single day I step on a stage and I hear my name being chanted or my words being sang back to me.
    “It’s not an ego boost. It’s a purpose boost for me. I feel like I am where I was made for. Two places in the world I am most comfortable, in bed and on stage.”
    After the release of “Sade”, Adekunle released his first official single titled “Orente” through YBNL Nation after signing a music contract with the record label on March 5, 2015.He was nominated in the Most Promising Act of the Year category at the 2015 City People Entertainment Awards.On 18 July 2016, Adekunle Gold revealed the cover and track list of his debut studio album titled Gold. The album is a 16-track project, with musical production from Pheelz, Masterkraft, B Banks, Sleekamo, Oscar and Seyikeyz.
    It was released on 25 July, three days before the original scheduled date of release. Upon its release, it peaked at #7 on the Billboard World Album Chart for the week of 13 August 2016.

    ‘Pour me water’ sensation, Mr Eazi is no doubt a talented artiste who doesn’t just understand music, but also the business side of music.

    Eazi who recently unveiled his album ‘Lagos to London’ has launched his mentorship programme ‘Empawa’ targeted at empowering budding young talent to shoot for global success.

    At the media parley for Empawa on Tuesday 20th of November 2018, Eazi opened up about the bitter sweet side of being a performing artiste.

    “Even me that you see here I am learning on the job, my performances keep changing and I keep adapting. Even me I need help, I perform sometimes and people scream and I perform in some other places and someone say:’ This guy sef, I just wasted my money’.

     

    He also noted that artistes need to find their rhythm, adding that there is no particular formula when it comes to succeeding as a stage performer.

    “I have done a show where I used live band, people were screaming, I took that same band to outside Nigeria and people were complaining. After that we had to switch it to live band and a DJ. The first time we did it, people loved it. There is no actual formula; you have to find your rhythm”.

     

    The Banku music boss also noted that Adekunle Gold is one of his favourite performers.

    “Adekunle Gold is one of the best performers I know . I tell him everytime,If he is here he will tell you”.

     

    When asked If he has sole right to his creative content as an artiste, he said:”No body owns my content, I own my content, everything. I’m not trying to make someone else a slave.I am not an expert, I just started doing music 2 years ago, I didn’t plan to do this”.

  • Grammys to consider Adekunle Gold, Burna Boy, others

    Adekunle Gold, Yemi Alade and Burna Boy have been reportedly considered for Grammy Awards in 2019.

    According to reports, the aforementioned Nigerians would be nominated in the “Best World Music Album” category.

    This comes after Seun Kuti got a Grammys recognition for his album “Black Times”.

    Top Nigerian entertainment consultant Bizzle Osikoya let out the news which was also confirmed by MTV Base VJ Ehiz.

    Nigerian songstress, Simi couldn’t contain her joy as she successfully held her first major sold-out concert at the Islington 02 Academy in London on Sunday 11th of November 2018.

     

    After the event on Monday, the ‘Jamb Question’ crooner took to her Instagram page to express her gratitude to the individuals who were instrumental to the success of the show.

    Describing Adekunle Gold’s contribution, the singer shared a photo of both of them with the sweetest words for him.

     

    She wrote:” The finest boy I know brought his sauce. You my Champion boy! Thank you. I love you”.

     

    A lot has been said about Adekunle Gold’s romance with Simi. No one really knows the true state of the relationship because the duo haven’t come out to state that they are in a relationship.

     

    The singer who recently released his sophomore album titled ‘About 30’ noted that they don’t have to announce to everyone that they are dating. Gold added that since he wrote ’Orente’ for Simi, people should be able to decode themselves.

     

    In his words: “For every time that I get this question, it just worries me. I already told you I wrote ‘Orente’ for Simi. How many times do I have to say it? Why do I have to say it directly? It is what it is, I have said it already. The news is everywhere. I don’t need to finally say it that we are dating. We don’t need to come out that we are dating. What else do you want me to say, Yes we are dating?”

    Orente crooner, Adekunle Gold is fast carving a niche for himself as a superlative African entertainer.

    The singer on Friday thrilled his fans at the Indigo O2 in London. The event, tagged ‘The About 30 concert’, saw the ‘Ire’ crooner perform with his band, 79th Element, and entertain his enthusiastic fans through a dazzling display of African costumes and dances.

     

    One of the highpoints of the concert was when Gold sat on a throne wearing an excellent gold apparel, edged by bodyguards while his sister gave the ‘oriki’ in Yoruba alongside a brilliant talking drummer.

    Adekunle Gold took to his Instagram page on Saturday to evoke unforgettable moments of the event.

    He wrote: “London. You were incredible. I don’t have words”.

  • Lagos stands still for Adekunle Gold’s album listening party

    Following the release of his anticipated sophomore album ‘About 30’, urban highlife artiste, Adekunle Gold held an astounding listening party, which had attendees in absolute awe as they experienced each track on the album first-hand at Upbeat Recreation Centre, Lekki on Friday, May 25, 2018.

     

    Hosted by seasoned Nollywood actress Kemi Lala, Akindoju the listening party was specially themed with Adekunle’s widely revered persona.

    The boisterous atmosphere added to the memorable experience – as attendees consisted of numerous industry big shots who gathered not only to support the singer, but also to hear the true story behind the album in its entirety.

     

    Donning his signature embroidered cap, Adekunle sat across the audience with the host; Kemi seated right next to him. As each track came on, the singer elucidates and narrates the unique story behind their inspiration, creative process, production and recording experience.

     

    Starting with the overall creative approach of the album, the singer said ‘About 30’ embodies the various experiences of his life, as well as the reflection of his feelings; which include love, pain, fear, pleasure and passion; right from his childhood to the present day. On the album’s opening track ‘Ire’ which was the first released single, AG revealed the song is an introspective piece, which aims to instill in the listener, the importance of resilience and self-content. On the next song, ‘Down with You’; a riveting ballad, the singer revealed working with DYO on the song was an exhilarating experience, on ‘Mr. Foolish’ featuring the enigmatic sapient Seun Kuti, Adekunle expressed profound gratitude for working with musician– describing the making of the song as incredibly momentous.

     

    Adekunle went on to tell in vivid details, the inspiration behind the other songs, including ‘Surrenda’, ‘Damn Delilah’, ‘Yoyo’ featuring Flavour, ‘Money’, ‘Pablo Alakori,, ‘Remember’, among others.

     

    The listening party ended on a high note, with Adekunle appreciating everyone who contributed to the making of the album, specially thanking his speculated lover Simi, for directing, mixing and mastering the album. AG went on to reveal he profoundly trusts her genius and every track he has ever put out has the creative contribution of the songstress.

    It is impossible to think about Adekunle Gold these days without linking him to Simi, his rumored beau.

     

    Adekunle Gold, who held the album listening party for his highly sophomore album, About 30, last night at Upbeat Recreation Centre shared how Simi contributed to the album.

     

    The event which was attended by Nigerian celebrities including Simi, Praiz, Ric Hassani, Lasisi Elenu, Pheelz, Falz, Omawunmi Cobahms, Seyi Shay and others.

     

     

    On how Simi contributed to the album , he said: “Any song that I write that Simi does not validate, I’m not putting it out…she’s a better writer than me. I fight her (Simi) all the time because she brings the best out of me.’

     

     

    The singer also revealed noted that Simi was responsible for mixing and mastering of all the songs on the album

  • Adekunle Gold finally unveils ‘About 30’

     

    Urban highlife sensation Adekunle Gold has set a new record as the first Nigerian singer to hold an exclusive album listening exhibition for fans; absolutely free of charge ahead of the album’s release. The listening exhibition for the singer’s new sophomore album ‘About 30’ began on Tuesday, May 22nd at Upbeat Recreational Centre, Lekki and has been well-received by music critics and fans – with some regarding the feat as a paradigm shift for artist-to-fan relationship in this part of the world.

     

    The exhibition room is specially orchestrated in a manner that vividly gives the ambience a presence of Adekunle’s artistry and the album’s theme. The room has in it; fourteen booths, with each dedicated to a track from the album. It can be recalled that Adekunle released the album’s tracklist a few weeks back; revealing fourteen songs and two bonus songs.

     

    Some of the songs in each booth include ‘Mr. Foolish’ featuring the enigmatic and phenomenal Seun Kuti, ‘There is A God’ featuring popular choir LCGC of This Present House Church, ‘Yoyo’ featuring Flavour, ‘Pablo Alakori’, among others. Each booth also has headphones, along with the lyrics to the track in which it is designated to – giving listeners a serene listening pleasure.

     

    An excited Adekunle Gold took to his Instagram page to share the news of his album release.

    He wrote :” I am really emotional right now. I could cry happy tears. This album, #About30, is a reflection of my heart, my fears, my pleasures, my pain, my losses and my faith. .

    With the love you give me? I would do it again and again and again and one more time. I want you to listen intentionally, absorb and create your own stories from it. It is yours and not for anyone to interpret. Not even me. .
