PDP: EX-President Jonathan drafted to reconcile aggrieved party members- Suswam

Nigeria’s ex-President Goodluck Jonathan has been drafted to reconcile aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP)

This was made known by the Former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, on Thursday.

The Benue state politician said the crisis within the PDP was a “family affair,” hence Jonathan has been drafted to resolve the issues.

He spoke on Arise TV, disclosing moves to reconcile aggrieved PDP members ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Suswam was of the opinion that the crisis bedeviling the party will be resolved before the 2023 presidential election in the country.

“Jonathan has been dragged into the issue to resolve the matter. Solving this problem between the G-5 governors is what we should be looking at. When Wike inaugurated the election council in Rivers State, all the governors were there; they were also there when Ortom inaugurated the same in Benue State; this shows that they still love the party.

“PDP has the capacity and internal mechanisms to resolve the party; this is why we are bringing in Jonathan to help resolve the matter.

“Jonathan has been dragged into the issue to resolve the matter. Solving this problem is what we should be looking at. They still love their party at heart.

“Wike had said he is open to reconciliation, Ortom said some of his comments were misinterpreted.”

The G-5 governors led by Wike have been aggrieved with the leadership of PDP following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the party’s presidential candidate.

They are agitating for balance and equity within the leadership of the party.

The Wike-led group said PDP’s National Chairman and presidential candidate can’t come from the same region.

Aggrieved PDP members form ‘True PDP’ in Zamfara

A group of aggrieved Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Zamfara, has formed a faction of the party named “True PDP’’.

The chairman of the faction, Alhaji Bilyamin Badarawa, disclosed this at a media briefing in Gusau on Friday.

“This is to inform the general public that following some irregularities observed in our beloved party, the PDP in Zamfara, and as true and genuine members of the party, we have decided to form a faction named “True PDP’’.

“We decided to form the faction to salvage the party from sinking and deteriorating under the chairmanship of Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, especially considering the way and manner its affairs were being handled ,’’ he said.

Badarawa alleged that the state PDP leadership under Danfulani has not accorded respect to members, elders and other patrons of the party.

“We suffered to ensure PDP won election in Zamfara and since then, we have been neglected by the leaders of the party who were in other political parties when we won the election.

“We are totally disappointed with the suspension of Alhaji Faruku Shatiman-Rijiya, the state Publicity Secretary of the party,” Badarawa said.

He commended Gov. Bello Matawalle for his tireless efforts to rid the state of all form of criminality and banditry.

Reacting, the state PDP Secretary, Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, dismissed the group’s claim, saying that the state chapter of PDP remained intact under the leadership of Danfulani.

“As I speak with you, we don’t have crisis in the state PDP, therefore we are not aware of any faction in the state,’’ Umar said.
